Birthday party.

“You were so tired yesterday you fell asleep on the couch yesterday” Aku said gently while holding a cereal bowl for Yui.

“What happened yesterday?” Yui was so sleepy he could barely talk.

“After I returned home from the main street I saw you and Nakata playing a video game” Aku said quietly so she won’t wake up the others.

“I hate Nakata’s games, there is no way I played them with my own will” Yui tried to keep the tough guy character.

“You looked really happy” Aku sat near Yui on the couch “I think Nakata has a special place in your heart.”

“We are childhood friends after all” said Yui, he took the cereal bowl.

“Speaking of which, do you think you found the someone you were looking for?” Aku was interested in what Eda said the day before.

“Eh?” Yui jumped from the couch “what did they tell you?”

“Nothing too bad” Aku laughed a little “did you find him?”

“Let’s see” Yui looked up like he was thinking of something “his skin and his tone of voice are soft like a newborn kitten, he never leaves home without flowers around him, his eyes go straight to the deepest place of the soul…. I think I found him.”

“Don’t worry” Aku smiled and held Yui’s hand “I will do my best to keep you on the good side.”

“You are a good partner” Yui smiled.

“It’s fate, our hearts are matching” Aku looked straight into Yui’s eyes.

“Matching?” Yui looked a bit confused “who said that?”

“Fuyuki said that” Aku answered “he said every living creature has a matching heart with someone, we are lucky ones, we found each other.”

“I thought the gods compressed you into my life” Yui looked down.

“They wanted to see how you would react, I don’t think they expected our hearts to match each other” Aku smiled.

“I’m happy it happened in the end” Yui cuddled in his blanket “I wonder what my life would look like if it didn’t happen, probably pale and boring, just a little boy in a useless class. It feels bad to think about it...”

“Come to the kitchen” Aku smiled “we made a little something for you, this little thing will make you feel better for sure.”

“What is it?” Yui asked.

“Come and find out” Aku ran to the kitchen.

“Hey! wait for me!” Yui ran after her.

The kitchen was dark, Yui couldn’t see anything.

“Surprise!!” the light turned on and everyone waited with balloons.

“What is this?” Yui didn’t celebrate his birthday for a few years.

“Aku made you a cake!” Nakata held the cake Aku decorated two days ago.

“You never celebrated my birthday before” Yui was surprised “what changed this year?”

“Too much” Minato said “you had a tough year so we thought of a way to make you happy for a day.”

“What are you waiting for?” Kimori’s eyes shined “turn off those candles!”

On the cake were 18 candles, 17 for every year and another one for next year. Yui sat near the cake and looked at it for a couple seconds.

He blew strongly once and all the fire went out, he forgot how that felt, blowing fire on the day he first breathed air.

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Yui, happy birthday to you!” everyone clapped their hands and sang happily.

“Sit on this chair” Eda pointed on one of the chairs in the kitchen “we need to lift you up in the air a few times now.”

“I don’t want to do it” Yui said firmly.

“We didn’t asked you” Minato said and lifted Yui.

“Bring me down” Yui commended “I commend you as your boss.”

“Not this time” Minato put Yui on the chair and immediately lifted him in the air.

Even if it’s not that high, Yui is very scared of heights so he didn’t even think of jumping.

Everyone lifted him happily 18 times 17 for his age, 1 for next year, as soon as they put the chair on the ground again him he ran to the bathroom to vomit.

“Are you done yet?” Nakata appeared in the entrance of the bathroom “it’s cake time!!”

“Are we eating the cake now?” Yui vomited a little more in the toilet “it will be good after this torture.”

Yui was done with the vomiting and went back to the kitchen.

“We waited for you!” Aku smiled more than ever “the birthday boy is the one eating the first piece.”

“Don’t call me that” Yui blushed a bit.

“Here, take this” Eda brought Yui a dish with a big piece of cake.

Yui took a little piece of the cake and put it slowly in his mouth, the moment he tasted the cake his expression changed drastically.

“This is amazing!” he said with his face shining in happiness.

“I’m glad you like it” Aku said confidently “as the perfect being I must have some level of cooking skills.”

“Can I?” Nakata pointed on the cake.

“Cake time everyone!” Kimori shouted.

Everyone ate the cake happily, it was a moment of sheer happiness in a world with no people with life that is made from happiness only, once this day is over everyone will return to their boring life, wandering with no goal in the end.

“I feel guilty for not inviting Nana and her brothers” Aku said while eating her cake.

“I prefer a party without them” Yui closed his eyes “to be honest I prefer no party at all.”

The door kicked open, Natsuki, Nana and Fuyuki stood there.

“I saw yesterday the future, you were going to party without us!” Natsuki said with a serious face.

“Give me that dumb cake” mucus started to get out of Fuyuki’s mouth.

“I’m here because sweet things are nice” Nana said with a flat face.

“Come in! we have tons of cake” Aku waved her hand.

“What?!” Yui didn’t want them to come in.

The gods came in and joined the party satisfied.

Everyone had fun, for a moment they forgot everything and was just happy, the perfect party.
