Un-disowned

As mother and daughter cuddled up in Mimoko's bed, a knock at the window suddenly startled the two. Daria's eyes narrowed as she cautiously peeked through the blinds.

"Daria, you are to exit immediately," a bespectacled woman with long luscious crimson hair ordered.

Daria began to clench her fist. "Oma, that whore must've staged this. Mimoko, sorry, but you'll need to get dressed for this."

"What's wrong?"

"The Inashiki family looks like it wants to conveniently un-disown me."

Arriving at the front door, Daria opened it to be greeted by the crimson-haired woman. It was now clear to see the woman was wearing a black dress, white dress shirt, white sneakers, and a lab coat.

"Just as Oma said. You cut your hair and bleached it blonde. How shameful," the woman scoffed.

"And would you say that to every natural blonde in the world?" Daria snarled.

"I would say it to every fool within this country that dyes their hair blonde, as they are aware of the negative connotations associated with it. And getting back to family matters, you broke the law of the family. You are not allowed to bear a child with an unapproved spouse."

"Disowned, so it don't apply, now fuck off, Ota."

"Nay, mother has deemed your disownment null, thus, you are to return immediately to the manor in Tochigi... City."

"The hag moved from Nikko?"

"Tourism was a problem, thus she moved the manor to the outskirts of Tochigi City. There was also the great shame you brought upon us, thus our need to move to a sparser place."

"And what exactly was it that convinced the hag to un-disown me?"

Ota shoved an article in Daria's face. "Your Inoshiki roots were exposed."

Daria clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes. Xiao Lin... Thanks to you leaking my name in Budapest, I've gotta deal with all the cleanup."

"This "Xiao Lin" you speak of deserves our praises for exposing the shame you've been committing. Now, with me. And the offspring... Mimoko, you call it..."

"What's your deal?" Mimoko glared.

"Your existence runs against the laws of the family. You are not to exist."

Daria glared and extended her arm. "Don't you DARE harm my daughter!"

"That is to lie with mother's judgement. If she deems the illegal offspring worthy of acceptance, she'll be spared, but not, execution."

"And you think I'll just go along with this!? How about we settle this in- Mmph!?"

Mimoko's eyes widened as Daria covered her mouth with her hand.

"Chess... You were going to say chess," Ota glared.

Daria's hand began to tremble as she released it from Mimoko's mouth.

"Okaa-chan, why are you-"

"Mimoko, I'm sorry. I never told you everything because I never thought a day like this would come. In truth, I'm the fourth daughter of the current Inashiki matriarch, and also the "dumbest" of them all."

"What do you mean?"

"The Inashiki family is an infamous matriarchy of gifted geniuses, and I'm telling you I'm the least intelligent of the bunch."
