Chapter 71:
Veil of the Shadow Hunter
The dim light of the secret chamber flickered, casting long shadows on the walls as Leegna faced Aternos, the embodiment of Gersong. The air was thick with unspoken truths, and a sense of foreboding settled over him.
"You have potential, Leegna," Aternos began, his tone smooth yet insidious. "But you're shackled by your alliance with Yuj. He has a weakness you can exploit."
Leegna's interest piqued. "What do you mean?"
Aternos leaned closer, his gaze piercing. "Once a contract is made, Yuj cannot harm the one he's bound to. If you choose to rebel, you can siphon some of his power for yourself. It's a dangerous path, but it could free you."
Leegna felt the weight of Aternos' words. The prospect of gaining power was tempting, yet a nagging doubt lingered. Could his body and soul withstand such a toll?
"I need to strengthen myself first," Leegna replied, determination igniting within him. "I'll find a way to prepare for the day I confront Yuj."
Aternos smirked, a glint of approval in his eyes. "Good. But remember, time is not on your side. The Dark Embassy will not wait for you to grow strong."
As they plotted their next move against the Dark Embassy, Leegna felt a surge of confidence. But as the plan unfolded, a sudden attack shattered their focus.
Three figures emerged from the shadows, swift and deadly. Leegna barely had time to react before they struck, separating him from his allies. The world around him shifted, and he found himself in a realm where Yuj's presence faded, leaving him vulnerable and isolated.
"Now, the real game begins," one of the attackers taunted, their voices echoing eerily. They had lured Yuj away with a decoy, and now Leegna was alone, surrounded by the enemy.
Panic clawed at him, but he forced it down. He needed to think clearly. A surge of adrenaline coursed through his veins, pushing him to fight back.
"Is this all you've got?" he challenged, his voice steady despite the situation. "You think you can take me down so easily?"
The attackers laughed, circling him like wolves. "You don't know the strength of the Dark Embassy, do you? You're just a pawn in a much larger game."
As they closed in, Leegna's mind raced. He recalled Aternos' words, the weakness of Yuj lingering in the back of his thoughts. If he could somehow leverage that against his captors, he might find a way out.
Drawing upon the remnants of his power, he readied himself for a confrontation. But as he braced for the attack, an unsettling realization dawned on him: he might be on the brink of discovering not just the truth about Yuj, but about himself.
"Come then," Leegna growled, his resolve hardening. "Let's see if you can handle the shadows of betrayal."

Drawing upon the remnants of his power, he readied himself for a confrontation. "Let's see how much you can withstand," he challenged, a fierce glint in his eye. He intended to test his full power, ensuring none of them left alive. Each one of them could hold vital information about the Dark Embassy and how he could strengthen his own abilities with the lowest penalties possible.
With a deep breath, he unleashed a surge of energy, shadows swirling around him like a tempest. He focused on his foes, intent on exploiting their weaknesses. "I won't just defeat you—I'll make sure you regret crossing me."
