Chapter 31:

Epi.7-2: It’s a Stream from the Abandoned House, right?

Two in the Abandoned House

Sayuri and Shinobu finished answering the questions, and Shinobu slipped out of the frame.
Even if she didn’t really feel like she was being watched, she still got nervous.
Her face was bright red as she escaped on Misaki’s lifeline.

Meanwhile, Sayuri was completely absorbed in the camera.
Even while standing next to Yuka, she kept trying to peek into the lens from different angles.

“Sayuri-chan, calm down.”

When Yuka smiled at her, a bright “Okay!” came back in reply.
Sayuri’s innocence like that seemed to be quite popular with the viewers.

“Now! I’m going to announce what I do on this channel!”
She took a quick breath and grinned.
“A hundred percent supernatural-being encounter rate! That’s what this channel is all about!”

Voices of surprise rose up, and almost all the reactions were negative—words like “No way” and “Impossible.”
Of course, Yuka had anticipated that as well.

Without losing her smile, she went on.
“I’m going to make full use of SNS, so it will be possible, y’know.”
Her tone sounded almost provocative.

Of course, plenty of counterarguments came flooding in.
Reactions like “Everyone uses that,” and “I use that too,” were only natural.
Yuka gave a weary little shrug and spoke up.

“My SNS is— the Sayuri Navigation System. Short for SNS!”
She struck a pose, thumb raised in a perfect winning grin.
It was obvious she had wanted to say that from the start.

Beside her, Sayuri floated up lightly, looking delighted as she chimed, “I’ll do my best—!”

Faced with that unexpected reply, the viewers had no choice but to accept it.
After all, the scene before them was anything but ordinary.

“And also, with Sayuri-chan guiding me, we’re going to visit all sorts of haunted spots!
Cause, really, when it comes to ghosts, the best thing to do is ask a ghost!”
“That’s right!”

Still, comments like “Is she real?” and “She can’t be real—just over-technology,” didn’t stop.
And among them, one comment suddenly changed the mood.

“The girl who flashed her panties in Hirai’s video.”

With that comment, the tide shifted all at once.
Reactions like “Oh, that girl!”, “What about today’s panties?”, and “So it really is the abandoned house,” made it feel like the believers had suddenly become the majority.

“…P-please… don’t say that…”
Sayuri lowered her gaze, her face burning red as she spoke in a vanishingly small voice.

Even so, the comment section kept getting more and more excited.
Yuka tried to calm them down, but no one seemed to listen.

“…Shinobuu…”
With tears in her eyes, Sayuri slipped out of the frame.

She floated over and wrapped herself around Shinobu.
“Shinobu… everyone’s being mean to me…”
Shinobu froze, eyes wide, but then gently hugged her back and began to stroke her head.

“Yeah, yeah… they’re all being awful.”
Shinobu smiled, looking genuinely happy.

Shinobu couldn’t stand the thought of Sayuri crying.
Being suddenly hugged had startled her, but the fact that Sayuri had turned to her for comfort made her happier than anything.

“I’ll stay by your side too—always.”
She whispered softly into Sayuri’s ear.

Misaki watched the scene with a fond smile.
At the same time, when she checked her phone, the comment section was getting out of hand with people saying whatever they liked.
Yuka was desperately trying to stop them.

She hadn’t felt motivated to stream in the first place, and had planned to do only the bare minimum.
But before she realized it, she had leaned into the frame, practically pushing Yuka aside.

Even with the fox mask on, it was clear that her eyes were angry.

“Enough already. Human or ghost, there are things you don’t say to people.”
As apologies began flowing through the comments, Misaki’s eyes softened—just a little.

“Because of you lot, my drinking time got cut short.
So make sure you apologize for that too.”

With just that, the screen was left with only Yuka.
Comments like “Why’d she get mad about the drinking part?”, “She already drank plenty, didn’t she?”, and “Is she even human?” showed that the mood had completely shifted.

Yuka took a light breath.
“…We’re going to have fun with this, so stick with us, okay?
Humans and supernatural beings—let’s all get along!”

That expression was just her usual self.

Then, saying, “There are still people who don’t believe, right?”
she took the phone off the stand, opened the door, and stepped out into the hallway.

Misaki lowered her gaze to the phone screen.
On it was the place where Yuka was, lit by the glow of a headlight.

Yuka walked down the hallway and descended the stairs.
As her camera swept around the entrance, something faint and white was walking there.
There was also a dull, unnatural thump.

The comment section was overflowing with screams and apologies, but Yuka had brought nothing except the camera.
Before long, she opened the entrance door and stepped outside.

From a short distance away, she pointed the camera at the abandoned house.

“See? It really is an abandoned house!”

Yuka’s buoyant voice was nothing but pure excitement for the new challenge that was about to begin.
