A normal day

Coming out of the store I looked at the annoyingly bright sky. Bags in each hand full of what I bought for today's dinner walking with the knee still stinging with each step I take. The bags contributed to pain intensity since it had extra ingredients for the sleep over. I could have asked for lemon because her summer vacation started but it would be convenient for me to buy it on the way home rather than send her outside for it.

I could feel the stares at me from every third person passing by me at the narrow gap formed between the bangs due to me wiping the sweat away from my forehead. Not wanting to stay on the streets for a second longer I picked up my pace and headed towards home

Dad was going through some papers in his hand while sitting on the couch. Shigeo was probably in his room upstairs. After putting the ingredients at their place I went and changed my clothes.

Coming back down, I looked at all the papers scattered on the couch. A bad habit of dad when he does his work in the living room.

“Don't forget to put them back in your room or otherwise they will become paperplanes for Sheigo's friends.”

“Oh, yeah. I should do it now.”

After picking up and arranging each of them back he took them to his room.

Just when I was about to sit on the couch the door bell rang.

Sachi-san and Hiraru-san were standing in front of the door with Akemi and Ayako-chan bags in hand.

I invited them in, even though they declined at first but finally gave up after a few attempts.

Asami-san joined us a few minutes later with Nobuo and Sumiko, her twin childs. As we talked over some cookies their children went to meet Shigeo in his room. He was busy tidying up his room which I reminded him a thousand times to clean.

Dad walked down to greet scahi-san and others when he heard Nobuo call out Shigeo from his room.

We talked for quite a time and when they realized how late they were, they took their leave.

I went and gave Shigeo and others some snacks. Heading back down I spent some time playing cards with Dad and Lemon.

When it was time I started preparing dinner with Lemon, Dad went back to his room to finish his work.

When the feast was ready both of us rested till it was time for dinner.

After dinner all of them were watching some type of anime on TV. I had to force them to bathe and brush because the show was running for quite a while. Shigeo and Nobuo went in with dad and Akemi, Ayako and Sumiko went in with Lemon. I went in last because I like bathing alone and there was the matter with my scraped knee which I didn't tell anyone about.

As we all played after the bath the time passed by and it was time to force them to sleep, and it was the hardest part. Dad, lemon and I could hear their pillow fight down in the living room.

Somehow the day went without any hitch, which… didn't feel right.

The next morning started on a pretty good note as I saw the carefree adorable sleeping faces of Shigeo and his friend. A sight to capture in memory. Which made me feel bad to wake them up but it was already 10 am so I had to. All because of their chit chat till late night.

In spite of all the work i had to do the way my mind recalls this day is by,

“How sweet of a day it was.”
