Chapter 17:
Bio-Mage
“Hello!? Hello!? Anyone!”
Zuina hollered into the Radio hoping for any kind of response. She soon fell into herself with fear of the worst, her leg quivering with unyielding worry.
“Damn it, Yuu!” She screamed in the van. “I’m not the little sister that needs protection!” She proclaimed, then moved in the back of the van and found the biggest weapon she saw.
“Ope—That's a bit too heavy.” The first gun she grabbed was one similar to Moku’s rifle, but once she lifted it off of the shelf it almost fell to the floor and placed it back where she found it.
“Yeah, that’s better—Here I come everyone!” She shouted gallantly, as she found a sizable machine gun, not as power as a rifle but faster than a pistol.

The monstrous chaos continues. Their only strategy at hand is to fight like hell with the hope of gaining any form of advantage. Thankfully they understand their own abilities, able to take a few hits, much more than the above average person. However, this simply means that they’re getting tossed like ragdolls, Yuuichirou and Kay in particular, as they’re shirts are getting ripped and torn each time they are flung into the ground, desks, or the odd machinery scattered all over this floor.
In spite of the chaotic plotting, they are still able to work as a team, providing well timed call outs and maneuvering accordingly. In the mix of madness, a plan of action was beginning to form, led by Moku. The creature was stunted from another power punch by Yuuichirou, nearly shirtless at this point. Which gave the opportunity for Kay to strike the creature, causing it to fall to one knee. Getsurin and Yuuichirou swiftly moved each side of the creature to seize its arms for Moku to sprint at the creature.
“Come on! Just bleed a little bit!” Moku screamed in annoyance as he unloaded an entire clip into the creature’s mouth.
The creature unsurprisingly hacked up every bullet that was shot down its throat. Stunned by the almost disrespect the creatures had to the power weapons, the team lost their focus. In that loss of concentration, the creature wrenched Getsurin, using him like a whip and struck Moku, sending them both away from the creature.
Yuuichirou swiftly shifted his footing to ready an attack. The creature unaware, Yuuichirou with his arm still a solid metal, delivered fast jabs with his right arm into the creature's abdomen. Effective enough to stagger its movements, giving Kay the opportunity to strike the creature with a calculated kick to its knee, forcing it to fall and catching itself by placing its hands on the ground.
Yuuichirou and Kay glanced at one another, both recognizing the new opportunity. They then focused their attacks on the creature’s face. Making use of its head as if it were a game of tennis, knocking it back and forth to each other. A dramatic fist from Yuuichirou, for Kay to send it back with a commanding kick.
The air suddenly shifted their balance. Confused, Yuuichirou and Kay instantly recognized that the creature jumped backwards with impossible speed. The creature then honed its focus back at the two, shocked by its sudden increase in speed. Before another moment passed: Kay’s body had already collided into the wall on the other side of the room. Yuuichirou had only mere seconds to react to the creature’s movements as it readied another attack. Yuuichirou’s person was crushed into the ground and just barely used his right arm to shield himself.
The creature then struck Yuuichirou with several immense punches repeatedly, almost burying him into the ground. Yuuichirou growled in agony as he certainly felt something in his left side fracture, and if it wasn’t for his Bio Mage power turning half his body into metal, he would have been easily exenterated.
Moku and Getsurin regained some awareness after getting flung like pebbles. Getsurin instantly ran to the creature standing over Yuuichirou. As he’s able to see, ever so slightly sooner than the others that the creature was creating another ray of blue light, directed at Yuuichirou.
Getsurin afflicted several attacks to the creature slightly shifting its position, however, the ray of light was still growing, and fast. Getsurin took the combination of Kay’s power moves and Yuuichirou’s metallic skin to launch his leg upward into the jaw of the creature, at the very second it was about to release the destructive ray of light.
The entirety of the floor shined with a blinding light and stray shards of light scattered everywhere in an instant. Thankfully not nearly as devastating as the first ray. Getsurin opened his eyes to a still standing Bio Mage, without any damage at all. The creature was once again dazed, but refocusing its sights back onto Getsurin and reached its hand towards him.
“Just give up already!” Getsurin shouted, straining his voice. Overly distraught at the sheer sight that the creature is still standing and continuing its goal for Getsurin’s eye. The number of options were quickly disappearing, every ounce of power that team had was nearly drained, the once clever ideas weren't present, and their powerful Bio Mage abilities felt like nothing in the face of this monstrosity.
Getsurin’s eyes, even his Bio Mage eye, began to turn pale as the creature got closer. Just as the hand was about to latch onto his eye, the creature paused to look at the door to the stairway, as did Getsurin. Zuina stood heroically with the barrel of her sub machine gun smoking. Getsurin was so intensely focused on the creatures, he didn’t even hear the dozens of well aimed bullets fired.
The creature vanished from Getsurin’s sights, to seemingly teleport less than a meter away from Zuina. With such speed, no one had even enough time to warn her.
“INA!!!” Yuuichirou screamed as a massive fog of dust and debris covered the creatures' surroundings.
“Yuu?!” A clear shout came through the fog.
“Ina?! Are you okay?” Yuuichirou instantly asked.
“Ye-Yes, but…!” Zuina answered, with a cough.
The fog fell to the ground to reveal Kay pinned to the wall behind her, but just barely holding the creature an arm's length away from her. She found the strength to push Kay out of the way to take the brunt of the attack.
“Hold on Kay!” Moku shouted, while Kay gasped for air as she struggled to maintain her fleeting position.
Once more, too fast for the others to react, the creature backed away for a split second to instantly deliver a powerful downward jab to Kay. She struck the ground with such might that it cratered the floor. The next fear brightened the room, as everyone watched helplessly, the creature formed the same pale blue light, and shot it directly into Kay. An eruption of light took over the floor, words were nonexistent as Kay was forcefully nuked into the fourth floor of the hotel.
“I didn’t think I’d actually need this—Fire in the hole!!!” Moku begrudgingly yelled as he timely threw an actual grenade perfectly at the face of the creature. Surprisingly blasting the creature into one of the cumbersome machines, immobilizing it, but best to think that won’t be for long.
The team quickly regrouped, potentially their last. Bones injured and tired, their bodies on the verge of collapsing, all they could muster was to stare at one another for a moment.
“You have to get out of here while you can.” Getsurin simply announced.
“We’re not leave—”
“It wants me! Get Kay and Yuuichirou out of here!” Getsurin snapped. “Listen, I never wanted this eye or any of this madness! And I can’t let anymore of my friends suffer!” He shouted from the heart as his past traumas clawing outward.
Zuina felt some tears run down her cheek, Moku glanced at that, he knows that she doesn’t want to leave him here but they can’t fight forever. Speechless, Zuina and Moku know that their options are completely exhausted: Zuina without abilities or combat experience, Yuuichirou’s body half limp, Moku empty of ammunition and explosives, and Kay buried under three floors of rubble. Getsurin was the only one that was able to at least prolong his fighting spirit.
“So just go.” Getsurin pleaded.
Moku took the other half of Yuuichirou’s limp body that was already resting over Zuina’s shoulder, for him to start guiding them downstairs. Zuina unable to look away from Getsurin, fearful of what will happen if she turns her back again. They soon disappeared down the stairs.
Getsurin turned to a sudden vibration of scrap metal and bulky equipment. Insurmountable, invincible, indestructible, power incarnate. The creature stood tall, unfazed by retaining that blankless stare, solely thinking of Getsurin’s eye.
“Just you and me, big guy.”
