Chapter 3:

The beginning towards magic

I became a god!?

I stepped out of my room and entered a long corridor with flat white walls. In front of me, Azar was leaning towards the wall. He looked up towards me, his fiery eyes looked at me, and then he turned away. He pointed towards two big doors at the end of the hall. "Breakfast." He said in a monotone voice and then walked the other way when he suddenly burst out in flames and disappeared.
Man, I have got to learn to do that.

I started to walks towards the giant wood doors that Azar had pointed towards. When I got close to the doors, they swung open automatically. After the doors had opened, I could feel a slight breeze in my hair. When I looked out, I saw a big table in the middle of a field, that seemed endless. "Welcome, are you hungry?" Solomon broke me from admiring the field. "Yes." I answered. I realized that I hadn't eaten dinner nor lunch yesterday. I sat down at the long side next to Solomon and started to look at what was on the table. When I sat down at the table, I saw bread and butter. It seemed like a normal breakfast from a noble family in the Middle Ages in Europe.

After feasting for a bit, Solomon put a black box in front of me. "Here, it is a weapon. A short dagger. " While he was talking I opened the box. I took out the small short blade. It had a curved edge and the edge was a dark red color. The handle fit my hand perfectly. It was clothed in really dark purple leather. It was also clad in dark blue and purple details. Just like my coat and the people from my dream. I once again got an eerie feeling about that dream, but I shook it off. "Thank you" I practiced a few light swings with the blade. "Finish breakfast and I will show you to Li Xiuying, The Elegant Dawn. She will be your teacher from now on." I sheathed my blade and sat down to continue eating.

When I was done eating, Solomon led me back through the giant wooden doors. It seemed like it didn't lead to anything, but when we went through it, we were back in the corridor. I couldn't figure out which was a pocket dimension. The field or the corridor. After thinking for a while, I realized both were probably some kind of pocket dimension.
Solomon started to walk down the corridor and I followed closely behind. We walked past a dozen doors. Until we stopped outside a crimson red door with golden text. The language wasn't written in any language from earth, but I could still read it. "When you became a god, you could read and speak the gods' language." Solomon said as if he had read my mind. I looked up at him and then read the sign. Don't disturb, especially you Solomon. "Maybe we shouldn't disturb Li" I looked at Solomon who didn't seem that bothered and still started to knock. To be honest Solomon looked almost a little childish when he finished knocking. "Solomon is here, Li" He talked like he was talking to a child. I just stood there and looked at him. He had seemed so grown up and wise, but now he seems like a child.
At first there was no response to Solomon's call when suddenly an arrow flew through the door just next to Solomon's head.
"Dammit, I missed." A female voice could be heard from the hole. "Now, now. I am here to ask you to teach the new kid." "By ask, do you mean force?" The voice responded. Solomon smiled and opened the door.

Inside it was another open space. This time the field was surrounded by a giant forest where I could sense some kind of creature from. I couldn't tell what it was, but I somehow knew something alive was out there. In the field there was a lot of training equipment. Both archer targets and hay dummies for fighting with swords or other melee weapons. And striking at one of the dummies was a young girl with light green hair down to her shoulders. She was using a short sword to stab and slice at the dummy. When we walked closer, she stopped and wiped her sweat off with her shirt. "Hello, I'm Li Xiuying. Call me Li." She reached out for my hand, but quickly pulled it back. "Sorry, but I'm a bit sweaty." "I am Yuki, I'll be in your care." She nodded in response. "Get dressed and we will begin." Li handed me an old tunic.
"Well then. I will now take my leave." Solomon nodded and left through the door.

"So, what do you about this world?" Li asked when I came back. "Nothing except that we are gods and that people can turn to dust or something similar to teleporting." Li was quiet for a while. Then she looked me straight in the eyes with her light green, almost shining, eyes. "Nothing else? Did you know that magic exists?" I could feel how annoyed she was at the other gods for not telling me. "Well, nobody told me, but I kinda figured that out when people started to turn into smoke." Li sighed quite loudly. "Magic is basically the power to control your surroundings. In the air around us, there are mana particles. These particles don't do anything themselves, but when combined with a person's thoughts they can be manipulated and shaped into different things." I could feel my head spinning trying to understand what she meant. "Here it will be easier to understand once I show you" Li raised her hand and whispered something. I couldn't make out what she was saying. Suddenly the air around her hand started to glow and an ice shard slowly appeared in front of her hand, and then it flew away towards the dummy. "Well then let's start." Li pulled out some boxes next to us and sat down.

"There are three different things to consider when using magic. First, gather the mana with the help of willpower. You need to gather the mana particles together with a clear image of what they should become. For example, I just cast an ice spell. To do that I needed the image of an ice shard clear in my head." She raised her hand. This time with the palm upwards. A small ice shard appeared in her hand. "Secondly, to make the ice, in this example, actually gather you need to be compatible with the element. You can't cast a spell from an element that you are not compatible with. That is because there are different kinds of mana particles that react to different things in beings. These things they react to are a being's soul. The mana particles for a specific element will need to be compatible with the being's soul. Therefore no matter how hard I try I can't use fire spells." She once again raised her hand, but this time nothing happened. "To know what elements your soul is compatible with we need to ask Solomon to borrow a mana crystal. A mana crystal is a lump of mana with all different kinds of mana particles. When you put your hand on top of it the specific mana particles that are compatible with your soul will react. So let's go". Li turned around and walked away.
