Chapter 4:

The crystal and book

I became a god!?

"So what did you mean beings when you talked about using mana?" I walked next to Li as we were walking in the corridor once again. "And can we please walk a bit slower? I almost need to run" Li started to slow down. "Sorry, I was thinking." she scratched the back of her head. "To answer your question. There are a lot of beings, not just people that can use magic. Dragons, demons. You name it. That was why I was saying beings.".

We continued to walk for a while until we reached the end of the corridor. Even though it felt like we had walked for almost an hour I didn't feel the least bit tired. We had walked almost in complete silence for the entire time unless we had met someone and said hi or if I had asked a question. I didn't learn much, but I learned that the world where the humans and other beings lived was called Thule.
At the end of the corridor was a big silver wood door that had a golden line that formed the shape of an S. Li stepped forward and knocked on the door. Almost as soon as she finished knocking Solomon opened the door. "Are you already done training?" He asked with a tone like he just woke up. "No... We are here because you forgot to check Yuki's soul compatibilities." Li sighed and shook her head. "Oooh... Okay, come inside and I'll bring out the book and the crystal." Solomon nodded and left. "What book is he talking about?" I looked at Li. "If there is a new type of mana reaction it will be automatically written in the book." Li walked towards a sofa and sat down she patted the seat beside her. I came and sat down. As we sat in silence I looked around in the room. The walls were covered in bookshelves all filled with books. We sat in a red soda in the middle. In front of us was a small coffee table made of olive wood. The room itself was made out of marble and had four pillars in every corner. The floor was covered in a dark blue carpet. The room smelled of old books.

"Okay, I'm back. Here is the crystal." Solomon came walking through a small door. He was carrying a small book that was wine red. On top of the book, there was a small rock. It looked like a normal rock disregarding the fact that it was also a similar dark blue to the carpet except it was shining. Li stood up and took the rock from Solomon. He opened his mouth as to disagree but closed it. Li placed the rock in front of me and said "When I tell you to place your hand on the rock and focus on gathering the particles inside it together." I nodded in response. Solomon opened the book onto the first page and looked up, nodded towards Li, and then proceeded to look at me. Li nodded in response. Li looked at me with her light green eyes. "Put your hand on the mana crystal and focus. Try to gather the mana particles in your palm." I sat and looked her in the eyes. "Should I start?" She blinked. "Yes." She looked away towards Solomon. "Remember Yuki, you can't prepare for what's to come." Solomon gave me a soft smile. I closed my eyes, put my hand on the rock, and focused.

When I opened my eyes again I was floating in an empty space. It was completely dark except for a few particles that were flying around me. The particles were three colors one was completely black. The only reason I could make them out from the background was when they flew in front of clusters of other particles. The other particles were colored a light blue almost white color and a deep purple color. I flew in that space for what seemed like an eternity and yet it only felt like seconds. The purple particles started to gather together and so did the black and the blue ones. The blue ones gathered together and formed what looked like an ice shard, the black ones gathered in front of the blue ones and formed together to just a completely black circle. I deducted that the represented ice and darkness since I was the god of darkness. I turned around to look at what the purple ones had formed. When I looked behind I made eye contact with a dark muddy green and deep purple skeleton face. I hadn't seen green particles and I couldn't deduce what power that was. It seemed that I had missed one color.
I continued to stare at the face as I could shake an eerie feeling about it. I closed my eyes to think better.

When I opened my eyes again I was laying in Li's lap. I quickly sat up when I understood what I was using as a pillow. "Oh, your awake?" Li looked at me a bit shocked that I suddenly had flown up from her lap. I turned away blushing. "Yes." I answered shortly. "I have what your powers are here." Solomon sat across from us in an armchair that looked like the sofa. He had quite a serious look on his face. "So. remember that I said that you are the god of darkness and eternity?" I nodded in response. "Well, you have two powers. Which in of itself is not that weird but I have never heard of your powers. The minor gods like you usually have a unique mix of already existing powers. But you have one new and one that I recognize. You have ice which Li also has. But you also have darkness. That one I can see. You are the god of darkness after all." Solomon went quiet and looked down at the book then he looked up at me again and then looked towards Li. "The darkness element seems to include shadow powers. You will get more details in your dreams later. Li could you please leave as I talk to him about his darkness powers?" Li seemed to hesitate but after a stern look from Solomon, she nodded and left the room. Before closing the door she gave me one last look.
