Chapter 17:
Kingdom of light: Stories untold
Under the moon,
An assassin moves,
Blood taints history…
Northeast of Luminos sits the Shadow Kingdom, one of the oldest Kingdoms on Star, it even predates Luminos. Due to its long existence, much of its history had been forgotten by others, but the royal family kept track of it all, guarding the history of not just their Kingdom, but the entire continent. They also guarded the large, strange triangle arch. The massive stone arch lay dormant at the very back of the kingdom, looming over everything ominously. The royal family had ruled over the Kingdom since its founding. The original ruler was the one to discover the forbidden spell of creation and anti-creation, the very power that killed Vacthius and Aurum I. One day, a knife was pointed at the family; it happened late at night. Almost all the attendants in the castle were killed, and the young princess, who was only a few months old at the time, was in hiding with her maids. The assassin struck down the rest of the family, leaving nobody behind. If not for the unexpected arrival of the former Queen of Luminos, Jade, the young princess would have lost her life that day, and the assassin got away after sustaining a fatal injury.
Jade had nowhere else to go, so she took over as ruler, only until the last heir was old enough to rule. And so the next day, the tragedy was announced, a funeral was held in honour of all who died. The assassin was an emissary of an old god; Jade was able to figure out who, thanks to the surroundings. Ice froze over parts of the floor as the temperature was colder in certain spots. The king's bedroom was in chaos. It seemed the King tried fighting back; the room's floor and walls were covered in frost, and the bed lay splintered as a large ice spike ran through the middle. The bodies of the King and the Queen were found off to the side; their blood had frozen. In their final moments, they had held each other close. A blueish streak ran down the Queen's face, a tear; she died worrying over her husband and young child, who would've met the same fate. The king's face was solemn. It seemed he held onto his beloved tightly, comforting her in their final moments as they both crossed over. Jade bowed her head slightly, closing her eyes, placing her left hand over her chest, paying her respects before walking away. The old god of Ice had sent his emissary to kill an entire royal family, but she never found out why.
