Chapter 19:

Behold, The Purest of Hearts

Bio-Mage

“Ge…Tsu…”

Kay faintly pronounced, buried under piles of hotel rubble, covered in thick dust and fine debris.

“She’s breathing.” Moku swiftly checked Kay’s condition, as he began to remove rubble on top of her body.

“She’s alive?” Yuuichirou was first to comment on Kay’s resilient body.

“Yeah… She’s just as tough as that Bio Mage.” Moku added, removing the last bit of rubble.

Kay’s body is amazingly intact as seen that her shirt was completely destroyed; while her head, chest, stomach, and arms are without injury. However, she lost consciousness from the impact of the blast and colliding with the many floors. Moku gently placed Kay on his back, and the four slowly made their way out of this hell hole.

“Getsu…?” Kay said in a faint whisper of confusion.

“Getsurin is fine, he’s finishing off the Bio Mage so we can get you to a hospital.” Moku extended the truth to Kay’s dazed mind.

“No—”

“I can feel his heart.” Kay aired lightly, beginning to move her arms.

“He, he needs my help.” Kay mentioned with a shallow tone, pushing herself away from Moku’s back.

Moku then lost his balance as Kay started to push herself away from him, quickly falling to the ground. Moku trying to get her onto his back so they can leave, she scurried up the stairs, for her to gain a sudden speed that out paced Moku’s movements. Moku could only grunt with annoyance that she essentially escaped.

“Kay! Wait! You're barely in shorts!” Zuina shouted as Kay casually leaped through the stairway. For her to then look urgently at Moku. “You have to go save her, there’s no way she can keep fighting, regardless of how many punches she can take!” She pleaded to Moku, for him to simply nod in understanding and quickly ran up the stairs.

Getsurin was simply without words at the sight that was just out of his vision. Barely able to keep the creature's hand away from his eye. The worst just happened. Kay returned to him, and was ready to fight. Getsurin’s fear began to grow with each step she made to him and the creature, failing to scream and demand her to leave. He couldn’t say a word, or push her away, he could only watch as she got closer.

“Surin!”

She screamed with excitement.

“I’m, I’m Unstoppable!”

Shouting in elation, she walked to the creature, and Getsurin, struggling to keep it away from his eye and wishing Kay would just run away. She only smiled as if all the joys of her life were in the same room, while Getsurin was unable to look away as his confusion began to develop. Something... Everything was different with Kay. The center of her chest was no longer human skin, spreading like flower petals was a brilliant shade of purple, almost glowing with what felt like power.

Still shining such a clear beam, Kay clasped onto the creature's upper forearm, nearly puncturing its flesh, and the same arm that had Getsurin held by the neck. The creature then only noticed Kay, seeing that a potential threat had appeared.

Just as fast as before, the creature flung its fist directly into Kay’s face. Getsurin wanted to scream, but couldn’t, and soon realized that he had no reason to express such fear. Kay didn't move a centimeter, in spite of the fact that the punch it had was powerful enough to bury her feet into the ground and was perfectly delivered to her face.

Kay adjusted her head to look back at the creature. Getsurin’s confusion kept growing as he saw her eye morph into a singular, powerful color. He quickly fell the ground beneath him as it finally let go of him, to focus on Kay. Still latched on to it, for then to try and break free by moving backwards and dragging a still standing Kay with it.

The creature threw more punches at Kay with the free arm it had, followed by kicks, anything that would try to release it from Kay’s clutches. Getsurin held his neck, now able to breathe normally, but unsure of how to take advantage of this impossibility. Basically stunned that Kay was stronger than any of the team even realized. Holding her own against this monster of pure unfettered power.

Kay then grabbed onto the creature’s shoulder with her other hand, and cementing her feet to the ground. Taking control over the struggle. Seeing too much detail with his eye, Getsurin focused on her eyes once more: As they transmuted into the same wicked color that’s covering her chest. The second this Tyrian Purple enveloped the entirety of her eyes, Getsurin somehow knew that the fight would end.

In a single sharp intake of air, Kay tore the creature’s arm clean from the socket of its shoulder. Faster than the blink of an eye, Kay instantly with absurd ease just ripped this seemingly indestructible thing's arm off. Setting the new standard of power, and still smiling so brightly that the blood from the torn limb splatter onto her teeth.

To continue the display of power, before the creature even fell to the ground, Kay then struck it in its abdomen with a kick so devastating that it was blasted through every wall. Eventually its momentum was quickly stopped by a support beam.

“Getsurin!” Kay cried with glee. “My heart feels so full!” She shouted to the heavens, squatting down to hug herself.

“Can you hear my heart! It's singing!” Kay continued her exultant sensation, as Getsurin was still without words.

“I've never felt this way before!” Kay sang once more as she then turned her attention to the creature, several meters away, just barely moving.

“Heh, still some fight left in ya.” Kay smirked, to hop through the many destroyed doors and walls of the hotel floor.

“What the hell? Was that Kay?!” Moku instantly spoke up in shock, as he made it to the sixth floor to save Kay to just witness her hop away like a playful child.

“Yeah, and there’s the Bio Mage’s arm.” Getsurin pointed, still rubbing his neck as he began to stand up.

Moku was unable to find the words to form a statement, having experienced the same struggle that Getsurin did. He couldn’t believe that Kay had anything to do with this destruction. “I-I don’t understand.”

Kay found her way to the creature, barely supporting itself with its other arm, looking like roadkill to Kay. As she got closer to it, her smile became brighter for her to forcefully land her palm over its forehead.

“Struggle all you want.” Kay mocked, as the creature tried to punch and kick her with all its fading might.

The creature then formed another ray of light, however, this one is bigger and darker than the others. All of the fear and fleeing hope concentrated in its last attempt at survival. For the light that it made to only brighten Kay’s smile as curled her hand into a fist.

The hotel ruptured into something that only felt like an earthquake for Zuina and Yuuichirou, in the lobby of the hotel, they lost their footing for a second. While Moku and Getsurin were almost blown away from the eruption as the shockwave nearly knocked them over.

Kay thrashed her fist into the creature’s ray of light, forcing it back into its skull. Causing an explosion, so pure that it created a crater on the side of the hotel’s structure, destroyed much of the glass windows, and sent chunks of the sixth floor to the ground below.

Kay emerged from the hotel dust and debris, completely unscathed, as she descended to the ground. Still maintaining a smile of pure enjoyment, quickly colliding into the pavement, landing flat on her feet as if she just made a small, casual jump.

“Hah, not so tough now.” Kay mocked, straightening her back to look at what’s left of the creature's head. Remaining was the cranium, and some of the upper jaw: Stringy veins and dust covered spine was firmly held by Kay. To then launch it in the night sky like a softball.

“Oh, wow.” Kay then gazed at the night sky. As if for the first time, indulging in the natural beauty of the endless universe and its incomprehensible stellar objects. Nearly bringing her to tears at the sheer awe of it all. Feeling at peace with the world as the warmth in her heart gave her something that she believed she’s never felt.

“There you are.” Kay eventually turned her gaze to what’s left of the creature’s body, the head and neck absolutely obliterated, while the limbs and torso were still relatively intact.

Kay then kneeled to the corpse to do the unthinkable. With ease, she tore the chest wide open, tearing into it like a starved animal, discarding the ribs one by one as she dug into the bloody flesh in search for something that she only understands. She soon found the heart: Pure in its deep crimson, connective tissue and veins snapping like barbed wire as she took it from the chest.

Kay marveled at the creature's heart like fine jewelry, to gently peel the heart as one would with delicate fruit. Leaving a beautiful mass of the heart’s ventricle. Gazing at it one last time, moments before she placed the mass into her mouth and swallowed it whole.

She covers her face with both hands with overwhelmed joy, to twirl her body in circles, over and over. Expressing indescribable Ecstasy she’s feeling by moving her body in a way that evokes a deranged ballerina, and yet somehow still one of beauty.

Just as she cried to Getsurin: “My heart feels so full.”
