Clarity that No One Ever Had

“What the hell was that?” Said Yuuichirou, always first to announce obvious oddities.

Just moments away from the van, Zuina and Yuuichirou felt a strong vibration through the ground, almost immediately after the explosion. But they were obviously unaware that the cause of it was Kay.

“I’m going to check out what that sound was.” Zuina declared soon after arriving at the van, placing Yuuichirou down as he tried to stop her.

“Wait-” Yuuichirou quickly said, for Zuina to stop. “Just be careful.” He simply said, for Zuina to nod in acknowledgment.

Zuina didn’t know what she’d find, or why she felt so strongly to investigate, but she just had to be sure that it wasn’t one of the others. She felt a light panic in her chest, simply imagining the worst had just happened and she was going to witness something that she’d regret seeing for the rest of her life. Trauma be damned, she had to know.

“Ah! Zuina!” Kay shouted with glee. “I thought I heard your heart.” She explained, spritely hopping over to Zuina.

Zuina’s expression was on par with the speechless amazement that Getsurin and Moku showed Kay earlier. One could only picture how much further Zuina’s shock would go if she didn’t miss the fact that Kay consumed the strand of the creature’s heart. Nonetheless, she cautiously walked to Kay.

“Hey, Kay, um… How do you feel?” Zuina gently asked.

“I feel incredible! Should we find more Bio Mages? I'm totally up for more fighting.” Kay swiftly answered, almost acting paranoid, hyper focused even, as if she’s on an assortment of energizing narcotics.

“Okay, not tonight, but… How about Getsurin, is he alright?”

“Surin’s fine, I saved him, but he’s still up there.” Kay eagerly explained, for Zuina to more closely study her condition. Droplets of blood strewn over her face, with a large smear on her mouth and jaw. Also trying to avoid looking at her nearly nude appearance, but could not escape the brightness of her newly colored chest and eyes.

“That’s great, but we have to get Yuu and maybe you to the hospital, okay?” Zuina asked, as she dressed Kay with her jacket.

“Okay!” Kay shouted, as Zuina took her hand, like one would with a child.

“Zuina, doesn’t everything look just so clear, so vivid?” Kay soon asked into their walk to the van.

“Uh, yeah, Kay.”

“Oh, and your hand, so soft.” Kay announced to hold the back of Zuina’s hand to her cheek.

“Thanks, Kay, just wait for a second while I get Yuu in the van, and I’ll help you.”

“Okay!”

“That can’t be Kay.” Yuuichirou immediately asked when Zuina helped him in the passenger seat.

“Oh, it is, she called me by name the second she saw me.” Zuina remarked, as Yuuichirou griped with mild pain. “Look, I know, let’s just get everyone to the hospital and we’ll figure it all out later.” To then return to Kay, gazing at her surroundings.

“Alright, Kay come on.” Zuina took Kay’s hand once more to guide her into the back of the van.

Now taking the position of the driver, with Yuuichirou and Kay secured as well, Zuina turned on the radio to get any answers from Moku or Getsurin.

“Hello? Over… Moku? Getsurin?”

“Hey, this is Moku, I’m right next to Getsurin, talk to me.” Moku promptly answered Zuina as he sighed with relief.

“I’m in the van with Yuuichirou and Kay, they’re fine but pretty beat up, how are you two?” Zuina explained.

“Good, Getsurin and I already talked about it, we’ll be fine, so just get them to the hospital in Minato, if they can wait that long. We’ll be fine.” Moku instructed.

Zuina looked unsure of what to answer with, as she gazed at Yuuichirou for advice. He simply nodded with Moku’s plan. “Okay, we’ll see you soon.” She then agreed to drive off shortly after.

“Wow, what a night… I almost don’t want it to end.” Kay suddenly announced with a fleeting joy as they moved to the freeway.

Zuina and Yuuichirou had not commented on her statement, as they only exchanged glances of worry for whatever Kay was experiencing at that moment.

“We should go dancing somewhere, that would be so much fun.” Kay’s eyes started to water, as the word ‘fun’ was caught in her throat as she spoke. Wanting the deepest, purest of joy she’s ever experienced to continue forever.

A few more miles go by in silence as they three were clearly exhausted from the terrors of the night.

“Hey, Zuina?” Kay spoke, quietly.

“Yea, yes, Kay.” Zuina popped up to look in the rearview mirror.

“Can I… Can I take a nap?” Kay simply asked, bobbing her head, struggling to stay awake.

“Yes, of course, Kay, rest all you need, we’re almost at the hospital.”

“Thanks…” Kay expressed, for just seconds later she fell out of the seat, as the back had no secure seatbelts.

“Kay? Kay? Are you alright?!” Zuina instantly shouted for Kay as panic shot into her body from the clear thud Kay made from falling out of the seat.

“Just drive, I’ll check on her.” Yuuichirou calmly stated, placing his good hand on Zuina’s shoulder to relax her.

Slowly working his way to the back of the van, grunting with pain and swallowing them to not further worry Zuina. Yuuichirou knelt to Kay, with his ear to her mouth.

“She’s breathing, she must’ve just fainted from all that adrenaline in her veins.” Yuuichirou announced for Zuina to exhale heavily from holding her breath with anticipation.

Yuuichirou then placed his hand on Kay’s neck to check her pulse, just to almost throw himself back with surprise at his discovery.

“What? What is it?!” Zuina asked from Yuuichirou’s audible confusion.

“Kay is definitely alive, it's just her pulse is absurdly fast.” Yuuichirou answered, still in shock at the discovery, to slowly move back to the passenger seat.

“What? Like the veins on her neck were pulsing fast?”

“Yeah, I don’t know, but her heart must be beating as fast as a mouse or something.” Yuuichirou reasoned with confusion.

“Or a squirrel.” Zuina mentioned.

“Yeah, or a squirrel.” Yuuichirou lightly chuckled at his sister’s innocence to look at her for a moment. “You did good tonight, Ina.” He supported.

“Thanks.” She smiled at the love her brother has for her.

Any well sanitized white room provides an overwhelming sense of comfort for most, knowing that a realm such as this is secure and safe. Willfully placing one’s faith in the mindset they’ll be taken care of by souls that take it upon themselves to selflessly save others.

All of which gestured by the rhythmic tune of the constant EKG machine, giving the mind a calm atmosphere to focus on its sound. Accompanied by the faintest of droplets that fall within the working of IV therapy, delivering nourishment for a healthy recovery.

Zuina had no issue getting to the hospital that Moku recommended, she hadn’t had the opportunity to ask him why she wanted this one specifically. Nevertheless, they were treated without question, and when asked what had happened, Zuina obviously didn’t say they just fought a monster, though that wouldn’t have been much of a stretch.

No, Zuina quickly thought up the idea that they were attacked by random thugs. Strange but believable. Yuuichirou and Kay were rushed to the care that they needed and are now at rest. While Moku and Getsurin had to walk and take the train home before meeting up with Zuina and the others.

Both Zuina and Getsurin, even Moku, took this time to relax and focus on their recovery with some research here and there. Zuina with Yuuichirou and Getsurin with Kay, while Moku maintains his distance as he’s ‘Not much of a fan of hospitals’ as he named it, but did his due diligence and watched over the spies and ran errands for the team, mainly for Kay as she’s her Grandfather’s only help. Thankfully, Moku didn’t mind.

Kay certainly needed the help, resting for nearly 15 hours at this point. Getsurin watches her every movement with the hope she’ll awake. Routinely, every other hour Kay will begin to roll around in her bed, adjusting her sleepy position, which will grab Getsurin’s attention.

Kay will make one last adjustment for her to exhale deeply and continue her rest. However, this time, in doing so exposed her bare bottom. Getsurin rolled his eyes at the interaction, as if Kay is still playfully messing with him even in her semi vegetative state. Making him think that she’ll wake up, to then tell him to kiss her ass. Certainly an Kay action.

Getsurin then got up to promptly cover Kay with her blanket. He then gazed at her with his own sudden tenderness. Reflecting on the fact that he hasn’t seen or been around this person in several years and yet, their interactions, personalities have realigned as if they never he never left. A friendship that most would love to have, one that Getsurin is starting to appreciate with each passing hour.
