#2 The Rookie Town

The next moment I open my eyes I find myself and Yuki falling from the sky...
"Aaaaagh, what in the world", Suou screams."Oi, do something or I'm gonna die even before my life in this world has started." Suou yells at Yuki."You should. Why would you bring me in the mortal world you useless shut-in NEET." Yuki yells back."If I die now I'll bring you back again. And I'll do it again and again." Suou tries to threaten Yuki."Heh, you and that nerve of yours." Yuki yells.As the ground approaches Yuki tells Suou, "Don't worry. You'll be okay.""I hope we're both okaaayyyyyy." Suou screams right before falling on the ground.
Suou opens his left eye and finds himself standing on the ground. He opens his eyes fully and looks at Yuki who's standing beside him giving him a scary glare.Suou smiles at Yuki to calm her down and asks, "How did we not get hurt?""I slowed down our falling right before we landed." Yuki replies. She's definitely holding a grudge."You can do that?", Suou asks."I'm a goddess, you idiot. I'm a goddess who you pulled down here." Yuki exclaims with anger."Uh, okay ,okay. Now don't get all angry on me. We gotta survive here together. I'm the only one you have." Suou tells Yuki with a smile."Seriously... I wanna punch that annoying face of yours now." Yuki says.Yuki sighs and tells Suou, "Where should we head now? As a goddess I don't wanna get sunburned like this." Her anger seems to have decreased a bit."Got it. Look there's a city in front of us. Let's go look into it." Suou tells Yuki.While walking with Yuki, Suou tells her, "Please don't go around and start claiming that you're a goddess.""Why?" Yuki asks Suou."It might get us in trouble and by us I mean, you. So, just avoid it. You can brag it to me when there's no one around but you and me." Suou finishes his line with a smile towards Yuki."Whatever. Where are we going?" ,Yuki asks."You said life here is gonna be similar to a RPG and according to the games I played and anime's I watched, you gotta go to the guild or something similar and you take quests from there. So, we should find a guild or something. I have no idea what it's called here." Suou tells Yuki while walking towards the small town.
"Yuki! Am I an alien here? They all look so similar to humans." Suou asks Yuki after entering the town.Yuki replies, "of course, they look like humans. Cuz they actually are, dummy.""Then what am I?" Suou asks while being dumbfounded."Idiot, dummy, idiot, dummy." Yuki replies.
After a while...
"So where are we going again?" Suou asks Yuki."Heh, you don't know where are we going? Oi, you said you knew what to do." Yuki replies with frustration."You're the goddess here, you should know everything. You're literally useless." Suou mocks Yuki."Oi, I don't...I....me.......I......me..... it's not.......ahh, you're right. I don't know much about things around here but I should know some. But...but....THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN CALL ME USELESS." Yuki gets furious.
"Okay okay. Let's figure something out." Suou replies while slightly being scared of Yuki.
"This town isn't that big and it's nothing like what I expected. There's no big skyscrapers or flying cars or nothing. So called futuristic." Suou says. "Come with me, let's run around the town for a bit. We'll eventually find our way." saying this Suou grabs Yuki's hand and starts running while looking around.
"Why are we running, you dummy. Let's just ask someone." Yuki tells Suou while running with Suou while he holds her arm.
"I'm not into asking anyone for help. And let's look around by ourselves. It might become useful later." says Suou. Suou looks back to Yuki with a smile and says, "Just bear with me and keep your eyes open. Let's try to know the way around."Yuki looks at Suou while running and doesn't say anything and keeps running with him while looking around.
Yuki and Suou slowly but steadily runs around the town and finally saw a place that looks like it could be a guild."This might be it and we didn't have to run much either." says Suou."Let's go in." says Yuki."Can you maybe do all the talking? I'm not good at talking to people." Suou tells Yuki while embarrassingly fidgeting with his index fingers.Yuki understood right away that Suou isn't good at interacting with others so she sighs and says, "stupid shut-in neet." and heads into the guild or whatever that is, with Suou right behind her.
"There's even a dining here, eh..." Suou says this and goes in awe, so does Yuki.
Everything in this dining is being done by specialised robots including taking orders, serving and cooking.
"Let's go to the counter over there." says Suou while pulling Yuki there with him.
A girl was coming out from behind the counter who noticed both and approaches Suou and Yuki with kindness."Hello there. Never seen you two around here and both of you have unique looks. I'm the Hub Keeper here and my name is Kira. Welcome to the Slicers Hub of this city. Are you two looking to become new Slicers here?" Says Hub keeper Kira.Yuki, "Slicers?"Suou's inner monologue, "what are we, knives?"Guild employee, "ah, everyone here knows what it means. Slicers are the ones who slice through everything on their path and fight against the Tech demons."Yuki replies, "oh, right right.... we're both here to sign up for it.""Follow me to the counter please, I'll personally assist you both." says Kira."Are you two together?" asks Kira."Yes, we are." replies Yuki.Kira asks, "So you two are trying to be in the same squad?"Yuki replies, "um, yes. That's the plan."Kira says, "It's gonna be hard to join other squads if you both are together. Some might want only one of you and not the other."Suou replies, "We'll just start our own squad, don't worry."Yuki looks at Suou and nods."Both of you would need phones to register and I'm guessing you both don't own any. The thing is that you have to pay to have the phones. By the way, we're having a limited time promotion for only today and only in this beginner's town. For the beginners who wants to be Slicers and doesn't own any phones get to buy the high end latest phone with 70% off the price which comes down to the same price as the regular ones. You both are the first ones who came to register today and I wonder if anyone else would show up today. So, what do you two say?" says Kira.Suou pulls Yuki away and says, "Screw the discount and stuff. We don't have any money, do we?"Yuki shakes her head in negative.Yuki asks Suou, "What should we do now?""Let's ask her if we can take any quest before buying the phone, if she says no then we'll say, we'll be back with money soon and ask her to save the phones for us. Okay?" Suou tells Yuki.After listening, Yuki turns around and says, "Can we do a few quests before getting the phone?""Yes, but it's not gonna be easy without a phone. You'd be given the location of your quest and it's informations on your phone and you'll receive your payment in it too." replies Kira."We forgot to bring money with us, we'll just come back with it. Can you maybe save those for us?" asks Yuki."Shouldn't you have it on your phones?" Asks Kira.Yuki and Suou replies together at the same time, "Didn't you already assume we don't have any?""Ah, everyone who's not a slicer owns a non-slicer phone. Which is a must in your everyday lives. You have your creds in there too." Kira replies.Yuki and Suou together, "Creds?""Ah, Creds means money. It is called Creds here. I guess both of you have no idea of anything around here. Both of you seem like you fell from the sky."Suou and Yuki's inner monologue at the same time, "We did actually fell from the sky.""Glad that I ran to you two. Or both of you would be hassling with the system here." says Kira.
Yuki pulls Suou away and asks, "now how do we get money to register.""You don't need any creds to register. You need creds for the phone that is specially designed for slicers." Kira says after overhearing."Then was all this yapping necessary." Suou says but only Yuki heard it."As you don't have any money, for your first mission this little friend will guide you to a quest that is available now and is suitable for rookies." saying this Kira calls out a little floating robot."Remember, in this quest the more you achieve the more you'll get paid." Kira says with a smile.
After half an hour...
"We've been walking for about half an hour. And why this little piece of whatever it is, is so slow?" Yuki cries out with frustration.Upon hearing this the robot started going way too fast for Suou and Yuki to catch up with. "That's why staying silent is best in some situations." Suou tells Yuki while running alongside her."Hey, can't you think of doing something instead of pointing me out, in this circumstance." Yuki replies."Oiii, we're sorry can you please slow down." Suou shouts to the robot while running.
The robot eventually slows down.Suou, "It-it worked!"The robot totally stops moving."No, it stopped." Suou says with a disappointed tone."What is wrong with this modern piece of crap." by saying it Yuki approaches the robot and looks at the screen of the robot."It says we're here." Yuki tells Suou.
Both Suou and Yuki are now somewhere outside the town.
"By coming here by foot we're already cooked, now I wonder what it has in store for us." Suou says while still trying to catch his breath.Yuki takes a deep breath and says, "I'm also tired but let's get this thing over with."Suou looks into the screen of the robot and says with a dissatisfied tone, "It says here to collect all the metal scraps left behind from previous battles and send them to recycle.""HEH. COLLECT METAL SCRAPS? ME? A TOP TIER GODDESS LIKE ME, COLLECT THIS GARBAGE????", Yuki shouts after hearing that.Suou sighs and tells her, "I guess, it's not all bad after all. Look in the bright side, we don't have any powers, so fighting against anything wouldn't be possible and we're both also tired from running here."Suou starts collecting metal after saying this.Yuki hesitates for a while and as she was looking at Suou collecting metal scraps by himself she starts helping too.Suou looks at Yuki and says with a smile, "Thanks for lending me a hand.""Don't go all thankful on me. I'm just trying to get this over with......wait, you should be thankful. A goddess is picking up garbage for you." Yuki says."okay okay." Suou replies.
After a few hours...
"Hold up. This is more tiring than it looks." Yuki complains. Suou replies, "We almost collected everything here and also have put them in this big bucket which I found being abandoned in the corner. Would this be enough.""I don't care, I just wanna get this over with." Saying this Yuki trips on something and falls."Ouch, what is this." Yuki screams with pain.Suou rushes to Yuki and asks, "Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?" "I'm fine. I'll heal fast anyway. This piece of crap made me fall." after getting up Yuki lightly kicks that thing she tripped over ."What is this thing?" Saying this Suou tries to pick it up but it's stuck on the ground.Suou pulls it harder and Yuki also starts pulling it. As they pull it together , Suou and Yuki both falls into the ground along with it coming out."What is this? It looks like a... I don't know, never seen anything similar before." Suou says."Let's take it back with us. Maybe we can also put it together with the trash we collected." Yuki suggests."Yeah, let's take it back with us." Saying this Suou goes to pick up the bucket filled with metal scraps.Suou tries hard and fails to pick up the bucket..."It's so heavy." Suou says."You're just weak, move." saying this Yuki confidently goes to pick up the bucket.Yuki fails too...Suou smirks upon seeing Yuki fail to pick it up."Told ya." Suou says."Shut up, you shut in neet." Yuki replies. "It's so heavy." Yuki says while feeling helpless."Wait, that stupid little robot might know what to do." Suou says."Heh... What can that robot possibly do?" Yuki replies with confusion.Suou approaches the robot that had been sitting idle since Suou and Yuki started collecting metal scraps."Hellooo, We've collected those stuff. What should we do next." Suou tells the Robot.Hearing this, the robot lights up and starts floating again. The robot floats to the bucket and a mechanical hook comes out of the robot, it picks it up and says "Mission Accomplished" and starts heading towards the town by itself."Would you look at that." Suou proudly says while looking at Yuki."Alright, smarty. Let's get going too." Yuki annoyingly replies."Let's take this whatever is with us too." Suou suggests Yuki."Yeah, let's go. But you're gonna carry it. A goddess like me won't carry things around." Yuki says."Okay okay" saying this Suou picks it up.
After going halfway Suou gets tired of carrying that thing."Umm... I can't carry it anymore. My hands are hurting. Would you lend me a hand." Suou helplessly asks Yuki."Seriously, you can't even carry one thing. Why don't you just throw it away." Yuki replies.Suou, "It looks like something that might be expensive. It has that vibe to it. I'm just really tired. Could you just hold it from one side.""Seriously. You're an idiot." Saying this Yuki holds that thing on one side and says "It is kinda heavy."Yuki and Suou reaches the Slicer hub while carrying that thing they found.
