Chapter 6:

Muuchi

Bintchoo To Kukuru

Yuna made her way to the school. Police were outside, and talking with the Head Administrator, and Mr. Miyagi. Yuna went on ahead and avoided that. The clock on the wall read 12:30, so it would be PE time. She changed her shoes, and continued to run through the school. Making her way into the locker room, where she quickly changed into her PE clothes, making her way into the Gymnasium. Everyone was running around the gym. She started running with the class hoping to not be noticed. While running she found Hiroko and caught up to her. “What did you do to Miyagi’s class?” Hiroko asked. “It wasn’t me. It was a Yanamun.” Yuna said. “It was a Halimaw.” Ramon said. “I don’t know what that is, also apologize to Yuna, you got her in trouble. That was a horrible lie by the way. A water balloon.” Hiroko said. “I’m sorry for lying.” Ramon said. “Good.” Hiroko said. “That’s not it, I just got done fighting an Oni.” Yuna said. “You are popular among the Halimaw.” Ramon said. “Yanamun.” Yuna said. “Are those like Japanese Yokai?” Hiroko asked. “Yes.” Yuna said. “Also why is this nobody here talking so casually? What does he know?” Hiroko asked. “About as much as you.” Yuna said. “Why?” Hiroko asked. “We defeated a Halimaw together, well I defeated it, she sat and only contributed at the end.” Ramon said. “When was this?” Hiroko asked. “Yesterday, that's why Mr. Miyagi’s class was destroyed.” Yuna said. “So you fought a Yokai, and an Oni?” Hiroko asked. “Yanamun, and yes.” Yuna said. “Halimew, I'm sick and tired of correcting myself.” Ramon said. “Yusuke called it Yokai, he also called Mabui, Kami.” Yuna said. “What’s Mabui?” Hiroko asked. “It’s Mana.” Ramon said. “You mean like Qi?” Hiroko asked. “I hate both of you.” Ramon said. “I think, I don’t know what Qi is.” Yuna said. “Have you never seen anime?” Ramon asked. “Would you believe me if I said no?” Yuna asked. “Wait so Yusuke is in this as well? Why is he an idiot?” Hiroko asked. “I don’t know, but he offered to help me learn about the Majutsu, that’s what he called it. I honestly like it, especially better than magic.” Yuna said. “Majutsu, I guess he has seen anime. Is he in this organization?” Ramon said. “Did you find them?” Hiroko asked. “Yes, to both of you. He is in the organization, but I think it’s better to avoid it. I don’t really like what they are aiming for.” Yuna said. “Good, they are a bunch of idiots.” Ramon said. “Have you ran into them before?” Hiroko asked. “Several times, back in Pilipinas. I beat the crap out of them, magic and everything.” Ramon said. “How are you able to do the things you can, despite not having magic?” Yuna asked. Ramon said nothing. “She asked you a question.” Hiroko said. “Some things are best left unsaid.” Ramon said.

A whistle blew, signaling to everyone to stop running. The class stopped, and Yuna fell to her knees exhausted. The sweat on her face wiping off the dirt and makeup. Hiroko helped Yuna up, and noticed how tired Yuna was. The bags under her eyes are dark, and visible even with makeup on. “Ms. Chatan, you are late.” the gym coach said, drawing the class to Yuna “Sorry Ms. Higa.” Yuna responded, her voice shaky from the attention, shrinking behind Hiroko. Ramon noticed how Yuna hid herself. “Ok class, time for Kendo. “You guys learn kendo here?” Ramon asked. “Yeah.” Hiroko said. Yuna closed her eyes, just for a moment, and everything became hazy. Glimpses of the day playing out, a flash of everyone learning kendo, Hiroko did great as expected from the Kendo Queen of Unmei High. Afterwards was normal classes in Miyagi’s disheveled room.

Eventually school ended, and Yuna found herself at the front of the school, leaning against the gate. “You ok?” Ramon asked. “Tired.” Yuna said. “You stayed up all night learning magic didn’t you?” Ramon asked. “I did.” Yuna answered. “That was stupid.” Ramon said. Yuna said nothing, she just made a noise. “Need help to get home?” Ramon asked. “I’m not telling you where I live, we met like yesterday, that’s stalker behavior.” Yuna said, her eyes closed, and leaning against the gate. Hiroko walked out of the school, and saw Ramon and Yuna. “How is she doing?" Hiroko asked. “Tired.” Ramon said. “I’ll get her bike, give me a minute.” Hiroko said, walking to the bike rack. “Why are you interested in magic?” Ramon asked. “Because it’s cool.” Yuna said. “There has to be something else. In my experience people who learn they have magic sees magic as a curse, yet you are running headfirst into it, any particular reason?” Ramon asked. “I don't know what you want from me, it just feels freeing.” Yuna said. “You are confusing.” Ramon said. “This city is big, but you can learn almost everyone within a year or two. Everyone sees me as the weak, powerless scared little girl, trying to save what she was born to believe. But with this magic, I feel like I can prove I am more than that.” Yuna said, her eyes opening, and she looked at Ramon. Hiroko returned, Yuna’s bike in tow. “I can take her home just fine.” Hiroko said. “Probably for the best.” Ramon said. Hiroko grabbed Yuna’s arm, and threw it around her shoulder. “Let’s go.” Hiroko said, dragging Yuna along. “See you tomorrow.” Yuna said, looking back to Ramon. Ramon stood in silence for a second.” Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow.” Ramon said, before walking away.

Hiroko managed to drag Yuna to her apartment, and laid her to bed. “Sorry but I’m not bathing nor changing you.” Hiroko said. “Thank you.” Yuna said. “Don’t worry about it.” Hiroko said. “I’m sorry you had to see me like this.” Yuna said. “Just get some sleep, and make sure not to do anything stupid like this again.” Hiroko said. “I won’t.” Yuna said. “Good, it’s pretty stupid of you.” Hiroko said. “Are you angry at me?” Yuna asked. “No I am not.” Hiroko said. “You sound like you are.” Yuna said. Hiroko sighed and looked at Yuna. No words were said, and Hiroko stood up, and left.

Ramon walked down the street, a simple smile on his face. He looked off into the distance, seeing an amusement park. From his peripheral he saw a man, blending in the shadows, a smile across his face, wielding malice. Ramon stopped walking, and looked at the man, as the man walked to Ramon. “The Halimaw yesterday, was that your doing?” Ramon asked. “A little thing I needed help with, a shame though. I had hoped for a different outcome.” the man said, his voice high pitched, and dripping with joy. “What exactly?” Ramon asked. “Let's talk about it, and maybe you’ll figure out. I have a proposition, friend.” the man said, pressing his hand to Ramon's chest, and in an instant the two disappear.
