Chapter 7:

Nanachii

Bintchoo To Kukuru

Hiroko laid in her bed reading a book. Her hair tied up, being held behind her head. She heard her phone buzz and she picked it up, a message from a friend. She looked at the date, and looked away. February 27. “Excuse me.” Hiroko said, looking at the date again. She squealed, and fell onto her back. “One day left.” she said, setting her book down, and standing up, she looked out the window and saw an amusement park in the distance. “A bit more than 24 hours, and it's open. I didn’t go last year, so I’ll finally go this year.” Hiroko said to herself.

Morning came, and Hiroko woke up, she took a shower, got dressed, put on makeup, ate some food and left for school. Eager to finish the school year. She got to school, slipped on her school slippers, and awaited Yuna to come. The school starts becoming crowded with students When Yuna finally arrives Hiroko ambushes her with a hug. “Stop it!” Yuna said loudly, getting most students' attention. The Mabui around Yuna turned pink. “Ok, sorry.” Hiroko said, letting go of Yuna. “She never gets loud like that, especially in a crowd. Odd.” Hiroko thinks to herself. “Sorry, but every time you do that it scares me.” Yuna said, quietly. “Yuna, do you know what tomorrow is?” Hiroko asked. “No, what is tomorrow?” Yuna responded. “Summer break.” Hiroko said. “Already. Yay.” Yuna said. “You two are dumb. This is not new news.” Ramon said. “Don’t be mean.” Yuna said. “Sorry, just telling it as it is.” Ramon said. “Then you must be seeing something different. Are you blind or something?” Yuna asked. “No more than you.” Ramon says. Hiroko looked at Yuna, she was smiling, even when Ramon was acting mean, and even Ramon, he was smiling as well. Yuna’s retorts aren't that good, yet he enjoys the back and forth. Hiroko’s excitement for summer faded, as she walked away. “Hiroko, are we going to the amusement park tomorrow?” Yuna asked. Hiroko looked back at Yuna. “Of course we are.” Hiroko said with a smile. “A nice girls day out? Have you been planning to go or something?” Ramon asked. “Yes, it was built last year, but we couldn't go, so we have been saving up money, and planning out the perfect day.” Yuna said. “What made you guys unable to go?” Ramon asked. “Let's not bring that up.” Hiroko said. “Whatever, see guys in class.” Ramon said, walking away. Yuna walked to Hiroko.

Yusuke walked into the school. He noticed Hiroko, and Yuna. “Hey, excited for the last day of school?” he asked them. He sounded normal, energetic, and full of passion. “Of course we are.” Yuna said. “What do you want, idiot?” Hiroko asked, a small smile grew on her face. “Mean. I just wanted to wish you a happy last day.” Yusuke said. “We both know that’s a lie.” Hiroko said. “What is your problem with me?” Yusuke asked. “Nothing, you just always have a problem with me. So I am prepared to deal with you.” Hiroko said. “I don’t have a problem, you have a problem.” Yusuke said. “Keep telling yourself that.” Hiroko said walking away. Yuna followed. “So, Yusuke. During the summer are you going to help teach me how to use Majutsu?” Yuna asked. “You can’t bring that up now.” Yusuke said, covering Yuna’s mouth. Hiroko turned around, and looked at Yusuke. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell a soul.” Hiroko said. “Why did you tell her?” Yusuke asked. “She is my friend, and I told her before you said not to tell anyone.” Yuna said. “Of course.” Yusuke said.

The three of them reach the classroom. Ramon was already waiting, as the students were loud, and talking with each other. The windows were gone. “Why are people loud?” Ramon asked, looking at Yuna. “Who knows?” Hiroko said, walking through, dragging Yuna with her. The two of them reach the corner of the room, Ramon walks over to them. “What are you doing, go away.” Hiroko said. “Don’t be mean, he’s new, and he has no friends.” Yusuke said. “I don’t think he wants friends.” Yuna said. “I don’t and who are you?” Ramon asked Yusuke. Yusuke just stared at Ramon. “Ok he is broken. Blondie, is it ok if I join you at the festival tomorrow?” Ramon asked. “Hiroko, and no. It is me and Yuna, not anyone else.” Hiroko said. “Boring. Hey you, uhhh, whatever your name is, wanna go to the amusement park tomorrow? I’ll pay.” Ramon asked. “Sure. It’ll be great.” Yusuke said. “Don’t you dare, either of you.” Hiroko said, annoyed. Yuna chuckled softly, catching the attention of the three, who looked at her, causing her to become self conscious, the Mabui around her became pink. “Stop staring at me.” Yuna said. “Tell these fools they can’t go.” Hiroko said. “I can’t. If they get the tickets themselves, then they have as much right to go as we do.” Yuna said. Hiroko groaned.

Class started, and everything seemed fine. A final sendoff for the school year. Miyagi was teaching the class. Yuna looked outside and saw a figure. A man, pitch black. Its eyes fell onto Yuna, and she found herself elsewhere. She was standing in her apartment, her kitchen. She looked around, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. She took a step forward and tripped on something. She got up, and looked at what she tripped on. Her mother, laying on the floor. Yuna’s breath becomes rapid, and uneven, as she crawls backwards, pressing against the wall. Tears started falling from her eyes. “Why do you think you can be anything more than nothing?” a voice asked, it sounded like her mothers. Her mother moved, and lifted up her head to look at Yuna. “You are a monster. Everything about you breeds evil.” Yuna’s mother said, crawling to Yuna. From behind Yuna appeared a hand that grabbed Yuna, causing her to scream. Yuna found herself back in the classroom. The Mabui shifted from red to pink, as a fire existed on her desk. Yuna dropped a book onto the fire, extinguishing it, and getting everyone's attention. “Do you mind vandal? We are trying to finish class.” Miyagi said. Hiroko looked at Yuna, and instantly knew something was wrong.

School let out, and Yuna tried to act like nothing was wrong. She went to her locker, changed her shoes, and left. “Don’t even think about it.” Hiroko said, grabbing Yuna. Yusuke, and Ramon were behind Hiroko. Ramon walked passed. “What happened?” Ramon asked. Yuna started walking, and everyone else walked with her. “There was something, standing in the lawn. I looked at it, and-. I don’t want to bring it up.” Yuna said. “What did it look like?” Yusuke asked. “Pitch black, red eyes. Looking at it just made your skin crawl.” Yuna said. Ramon stopped walking with the group, it matched the description of the man from last night. “Another Yokai?” Hiroko asked. Yuna stopped, and everyone stood around her except Ramon. “Halimew, and yes. It's something worse than a simple Halimew though. A trickster, and a dealmaker. A monster beyond comprehension. It’s one of the strongest races. Even among the races that can use magic, they are powerful. A Demonyo. Their Japanese name though, I think it’s called a-.”Ramon started. “Akuma.” Yusuke finished Ramon's sentence. “Akuma, seriously?” Hiroko asked, worried. “If it is an Akuma we are screwed.” Yusuke said. “Maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s a figment of my imagination. I am a bit sleep deprived.” Yuna said. “Definitely not.” Ramon said. “Let’s just forget about it, until after tomorrow, please.” Yuna said. “It shouldn’t be that bad. It takes at least a week for a Demonyo to strike after making its presence known. It cares about one thing, fear.” Ramon said. “Let’s just forget about it, and tomorrow we do our Amusement park plan. But after that, we will help you.” Hiroko said. “Still a bad Idea.” Yusuke said. “Just get behind the plan already.” Yuna said. “Fine, but I’m getting back up.” Yusuke said. “Sound, solid plan. Have fun with that. I will see all of you tomorrow.” Ramon said, before walking off. “Tomorrow.” Yuna repeats to herself.
