Chapter 44:

A Bet Lost But Way More Won

The Otaku Mage

Kuro stood in front of a gravestone. The plaque on it read:

“In loving memory Shinoha Saria - The Flower Mage”

He put new flowers into the container in front of the stone.

“I guess the six months is over… I think I might have lost our bet…”, Kuro said and his eyes got a bit teary, “Thank you… for everything. I hope you have fun with my mum, wherever you two are now… but don’t thrash the place… too much.”

A tear ran down his cheek. Sachi next to him put her hand on his shoulder and squeezed it a bit.

“I’ll visit again… soon… I promise.”, Kuro said, bowed slightly and then turned to go.

Sachi went next to him.

“You had a bet with her?”, She asked curiously.

“Yeah, I did… I wish she could have been here to see the result.”, Kuro replied.

“Even though you lost?”

“Even though I lost… since I won way more.”

“Huh? How’s that possible?”

Kuro looked at her, just smiled and grabbed her hand. Holding hands, they went down the path and out of the graveyard. Sachi’s ring on her ring finger glittered in the sunlight.
