Chapter 25:

Chapter 25: Diary.

Knights of Vein

Helena removes her friend's body and begins to cry, pleading for help. Baron arrives and laments Nina's death.

At dawn, a small ceremony is held with the presence of the orphans who were attached to Nina.

Gray watches from afar. Helena finds this strange and remembers what Nina said, taking the diary from her pocket.

Helena leaves the place and on the way passes Alphonse and Irineia.

Alphonse: -Helena, can I talk to you?

Helena seriously replies.

Helena: -Not now, Alphonse, I'm not interested in talking at the moment.

Even with so much time having passed since the last events, Helena harbored a grudge against Alphonse, and this bothered him.

Irineia: -Do you still like her?

Alphonse: -No, but Nina was her friend, I just thought I could help in some way.

Irineia watches Helena leave and begins to think she's a problem.

In her room, Helena reads the pages of her diary and is frightened by the contents.

The diary contained revelations about the church and how Nina sent children who never returned to the castle. She was burdened with guilt and ultimately committed suicide upon discovering what Gray was doing at the castle. Helena also discovered that Nina was pregnant with Gray's child.

Helena: "I should have believed Isz when he spoke about the church... That day he wanted to fight Gray... How foolish I was to believe those lies."

Pensitive and frightened, Helena decides to confront Gray. She grabs some antique weapons, dons her old knight's uniform, and sets off to speak with him.

Arriving at the location, Helena throws a sword into Gray's hand and, with the other, presses it against his throat, interrogating him.

Gray, in agony: "Ah, why are you doing this, Helena?"

Helena: -Shut up, I'm going to ask the questions, and don't even try to use any magic or enchantment, I sealed runes on my weapons.

Gray, impressed by Helena, remains silent.

Helena: -Since when were you sacrificing children in the castle? And when did you abuse Nina and order her to help you, you bastard?

Gray: -Abusing? Hahaha, I never abused her nor forced her to help me, we only shared the same dream.

Helena, gripping the sword tightly in her arms, asks what kind of dream that was.

Gray: -A new world where wars and pain will not exist, everyone is equal, and demons do not live among us.

Helena cuts off one of Gray's arms and rips off two fingers from his other arm.

Gray: - Argh, you wretch! Guards!

Helena: - I killed them all, there's no point in shouting, Gray, and don't come with lies because I read Nina's diary. She felt abused by you and was afraid. She would never share a dream like that, sacrificing children. And what is your relationship with the queen?

Gray: - Just because I'm older than Nina, we couldn't fall in love? Hahaha, she loved me and knew that no one would marry a nurse who worked in an orphanage taking care of those children and wasting time with charity work for the elderly.

She just regretted the path she took. It's a real shame because I even liked her.

Helena cuts off Gray's other arm.

Gray (in agony): - What do you want?

Helena: -Tell the truth, then I'll cut off your dick and your head.

Gray: -Hahaha, Nina just paid the price for her choices, she knew who I was and who the queen was, and she knew about you and Lith.

Helena: -What do you mean?

Gray: -Your silver hair and eyes, your high recovery and stamina, you don't think any human being can do what you and Lith did, do you?

Hahahaha, either you're an idiot, or you're pretending to believe you were the good guy in the story? The only ones who knew or suspected the truth were the scouts, and they're all dead. You should have let that idiot brat Isz kill me when he had the chance.

Helena angrily asks another question.

Helena: -How many innocent people did you kill?

Gray: -I don't know, I've been doing this since I was your age, girl. Don't play the benevolent one who's saving this land. You helped protect me and consume blood with Lith, hahaha. Even if you kill me, nothing will change, and the queen has already achieved what she wanted and is alive. Come on, Helena, you also have blood on your hands.

The blood of the scouts, the children, and your friends.

Helena cuts Gray's tongue and leaves the room.

She runs to warn Baron to flee the orphanage with the remaining children.

Baron revolts and tells her to kill Gray, but Helena says she's already taken care of that and will only confront the alchemists.

Baron gathers all the remaining children and they leave on the same day.

Irineia looks at Helena and says: "You also have blood on your hands, vampire. Don't play the victim. You lost everything, and by not believing Isz, you lost even more."

Helena: "Shut your mouth. Do you know something, you whore?"

Irineia: "I know everything, and I know your end is coming soon. Only a clean death will free you from guilt."

Helena draws her sword and strikes Irineia in the face.

Irineia laughs and says she will get out of Helena's way. The cut on her face closes instantly, and her eyes glow blue, foreshadowing a curse.
