Slept through the orientation

A man wearing the school uniform is now standing on the stage and garnered everyone’s attention as he spoke in such a way that his voice could clearly be heard by everyone in the stadium. The guy is probably a Mythical affiliation student; I could tell because his uniform is orange colored.

The man looks around the stadium and then smiles.

“I think I got everyone’s attention now. First off, let me introduce myself. I am Ozaki Midori, the current Student Body/Council President.”

“Fliege”

After uttering that word, white smoke and mirage enveloped around his body. He then jumped off the stage. We clapped our hands as Mr. Midori started to levitate and fly around the stadium. He flew by the Astral Affiliation students who were seated and reached out his hand to give them high fives. He then stopped and stayed suspended in the air on top of where the stage was.

“I’m a 3rd year Mythical Affiliation student here at the Academy and as you can see, this place has really taught me to hone and maximize my magic capabilities.”

“Now that I’m done with the introductions, let’s proceed to some things you freshmen need to be informed about as you start your journey here at the Academy.”

`At the city police station

“We’ve finished our tests on the Power Adapter that was said to have malfunctioned during the entrance exams of the Magic Academy.”, a man wearing a lab coat said as he was standing in front of the seated Police Chief.

“So was it compromised by someone as some sort of a terror attack? Did you find any clue that’ll lead us to whoever did it?”, the chief replied as he was lighting a cigar.

“Uhh… The Power Adapter involved had no traces of being maliciously tampered. In fact, it was perfectly operational when we reconstructed it and performed some activations on it.”

“Huh? So then why did it break down and malfunctioned during that incident last week!?”

“Power Adapters are designed to assist a person in casting magic. It also regulates the amount of magic power that the user expends so that the user does not over exert, and as we know, expending too much energy could make your body collapse and it is a very common accident that happens to beginners that practice magic without the aid of these adapters. This adapter was in perfect condition but it had significantly more severe damage to its energy regulator components. It broke down not because the device was defective, but because the device experience a surge of an enormous amount of magic power that was too much even for a high-grade Power Adapter like this one.”, the man wearing a lab coat explained as he handed out picture of the Power Adapters damaged components.

“But the kid who used that adapter did not have any signs of fatigue during that incident!”

“To be able to exert that much magic power without any fatigue, he’s got to be as powerful as the three Masters!”

“Or maybe much more!”

“The press is waiting for an explanation on that accident. So is this what we are going to tell them?”

“No, tell them that the Power Adapter was indeed defective…”

‘It hurts…I’m dying, somebody please…’

“Hang in there! Please don’t you dare die!”, a female voice says this as she seems to be sobbing.

Back at the Stadium, the freshmen orientation was just about to wrap up...

“Kazushi-kun?”

‘Hmmm… It smells so fragrant, like taking a stroll in a meadow of flower…’

‘Huh wait, did I fall asleep? Guess this orientation thing was too boring for me to handle hahaha’

I slowly open my eyes. I paused for a while and blushed as I realize that not only did I accidentally sleep through the orientation, I also had my body tilted towards Kido-san and I probably had my head laying on her shoulder the whole time. (She smells really nice hehehe).

I quickly lifted my head and straightened my body to be seated more formally. Then I wiped my mouth checking if I had drool on my mouth. ‘Thank goodness there wasn’t any’

“Kido-san, I’m so sorry!”, I bowed my head while apologizing and also I was trying to hide the blush on my face from the humiliation.

“Uh-uhhhmm, sorry for what?”, she tilted her head a little with visible confusion.

“Huh, uhhh for you know… I feel asleep and had my head rested on your shoulders! I’m really sorry!”

I might have said that one too loud because by now quite a few students were looking at our direction.

“Heh, what’s that? A lover’s quarrel?”, murmurs coming from the other students made me feel even more embarrassed now.

“You don’t really have to apologize. I mean, Tsuchida-chan falls sleeps on my shoulders all the time”

“It makes me feel happy to know that she finds comfort being by my side and I get to see her sleep so soundly”

‘Haaahhh, Kido-san is an angel!’

“O-okay, if you say so…”, I said while looking down and scratching my head in awe.

“And that concludes this orientation, I wish that this would be a fun and memorable year for all of us!”, President Midori just finished his announcements.

“Well then, let’s make our way to our classroom!”, Kido-san proclaimed with her face filled with enthusiasm.

“Do you even know where our room will be?”

“Of course! Unlike you, I actually payed attention to the orientation so I know where the room will be.”

“Ahahaha s-ssorry…”

Students began to head towards the exits. We have to fight our way through this flood of people again. ‘Wait, does that mean I can “hold hands” with Kido-san again?’

Near the stadium’s exit I could see someone with a familiar face, it was Usami-senpai!

“Ohhh, Shinzo? Shinzo-kun? It’s good to see you again!”

“Who’s that girl with you? A classmate?”

“Usami-senpai! Yeah, this is Aozora Kido, we are in the same class”

“Are you on peacekeeping duty? Where’s Senzo-senpai, isn’t he with you?”

“Yeah, I still can’t get used to this kind of crowd though, but that Koyasu forced me to take this assignment while he stayed at the HQ doing some paper works”, Usami-senpai said and then pouted probably feeling annoyed a little.

‘That pout makes her look so cute’

“K-k-kawaii…”

“Huh?”

“Ohh nothing… well, we really should get going.”

“See you later!”
