Chapter 43:

A nostalgic game.

Yui

Aku knocked on the door of Nana’s house, she thought it would be rude if she won’t play the game she promised to play.

Nana opened the door and Natsuki who sat on the couch said quietly “thank you” he got tired from saying no over and over again.

“It better be something important. I'm a bit busy right now” Nana said, her face was flat but a bit angry.

“You said you want to play a game with me” Aku said, she felt like she interrupted the two to do something important.

“Hmm?” Nana forgot she said it, her head was too full of thoughts.

“You know” Aku tried to remind Nana “to raise our friendship level...”

“Oh right” Nana suddenly remembered the conversation from the restaurant in the mall.

Aku and Nana disappeared on earth and appeared in the ruins of the supreme land.

“We will play it here because it will be too dangerous on earth” Nana said to Aku who looked a bit confused on how she got there “I played it today with Natsuki already but it was not challenging therefore not fun, not even a little.”

“Natsuki don’t play a lot of games usually” Aku knew something was a little wrong “why did he play with you today.”

“Sometimes he wants to play with his big sister without reason” Nana crossed her hands and lied.

“But there is a reason right?” Aku leaned forward a little.

“There is” Nana closed her eyes and the tears she tried so hard to hide appeared once again “Fuyuki killed himself today.”

“That’s horrible” Aku hid her mouth with her hand, she was not expecting it.

“Let’s play the game” Nana said, she thought playing will make her forget.

“If it will make you feel better I will do my best playing it” Aku said, she could just imagine how hard it must be. She loved her little brother so much but thought she lost him, then she found him again just so he would kill himself soon after.

“Here are the rules” Nana wiped the tears and said “you need to do everything to make others fall but also try not falling yourself.”

“When do we start?” Aku asked.

“Now” Nana appeared near Aku and tried to push her.

Aku ducked the push and jumped in the air trying to make Nana fall using her leg. Nana held Aku’s leg strongly trying to use it to throw Aku on the floor, in the last second Aku stopped Nana’s attempt by standing on her hands and pushed Nana back using her other leg.

“Pretty good for a human” Nana said happily, the way Aku played the game was pretty similar to the way Fuyuki used to do.

“I’m enjoying it too!” Aku stood on her legs again.

This time Aku was the first one to attack, she ran quickly behind Nana and tried to push her forward. Nana saw it coming so she leaned forward and catched Aku’s hands in order to lift her above her back and drop her on the floor, a little before Nana started to lift her, Aku noticed the little space between Nana’s legs and sliped inside there, she was just flexible enough in order to get there. Nana’s hands went under her legs not giving her much more options but to fall.

“I did it” Aku smiled and patted heavily.

“Using your legs and flexibility much more than your hands…” Nana smiled “let’s do it again.”

“If you want to” Aku stopped patting.

Like the first time Nana was the first one to attack, she jumped high to kick Aku’s head but Aku ducked Nana’s attack in time once again, she moved a little and Nana landed on the floor.

Nana ran towards Aku and gave her a kick, Aku didn’t dodge this attack and slipped back, luckily for her she didn’t fall because she held herself in a bridge pose. Nana tried to complete the combo with a push on Aku’s front but Aku ducked down before Nana did the push and gave her a kick from the bottom, Nana slipped back.

“It’s so nostalgic!” Nana said, she smiled but she couldn’t stop crying.

Aku gave a push to Nana and Nana didn’t even try to dodge the kick, she just fell quietly on her back.

“Something happened?” Aku thought Nana won’t fall so easily.

“I've been thinking for a while” Nana looked at the sky above “Fuyuki missed me? did he find another someone? what would he look like if I took him instead of Natsuki?”

“If it makes you feel better” Aku sat near Nana “he was important for me too, he was there for me when I had no one, with a cute face and white fur.”

“It’s not the same” Nana smiled fakely “I’m a disgusting sister aren’t I?”

“No” Aku tried to comfort Nana “you are amazing.”

“I’m awful as a god” the tears from Nana’s eyes reflected the lazy passing by clouds “I’m awful as a living being.”

“You are not” Aku felt bad for Nana “you raised Natsuki, he is kind and sensitive.”

“I treated him like trash” Nana kept smiling but didn’t stop crying for a second.

“I will stop saying things to you” Aku stood up with a serious face “now it’s your turn to choose how to react. You are amazing, without you my life would be the worst, I bet Natsuki thinks so too, you can choose to keep on crying on yourself or to move on” Aku went away, she didn’t know how to exit supreme land so she just walked around there, waiting.

Natsuki was somewhere else in the supreme land, sweating his soul out. He practiced every move he knew, Yui is not the only one who wants to get stronger.

He fell on the floor in exhaustion “damn it! if I want to be worthy of Nana’s love more than Fuyuki I need to try harder” he ignored the pain and barely stood up once again.

He saw Nana expressing real sadness when Fuyuki died, he wondered to himself if he was the one dying if Nana would do the same. He understood, if he wants to be something for Nana, he needs to not be useless for her. So he did, he practiced and practiced until he lost his consciousness from hard work.

It might was a bad day for the three gods but there is always a brighter tomorrow.
