Chapter 23:
meet the bloodbriars
Supervising the school library is a delicate affair i suppose i should be aware as i bed one nightly and share offspring with one albeit a former one at that. Students flit like distracted spirits, attempting social media stunts, pulling pranks, and misplacing books in ways that defy logic.
I sit quietly, observing, letting their attempts at chaos play out. One student knocks coffee into the printer. Another writes a “book review” in emojis. They reveal their own ignorance spectacularly.
“Perhaps the ghosts of knowledge are offended,” I remark lightly. The clever students snicker, inspired. The fools panic quietly.
Later, I guide the outsiders who seek advice, helping them navigate literary assignments, subtle allusions, and gothic references. My satisfaction is quiet but profound. Chaos for the arrogant, order for the deserving—classic hubris backfiring.
