Chapter 16:

Going Home in the Wilderness

Unforgivable Vengeance

I arrived back home at early morning, the sunlight biting my skin as I noticed our house we've made since years ago. stepped inside our shelter, but no one's here, the atmosphere was silent, except the sound of my own rage gasp and breath.

I called my mother T-Rex, both anxious and worry. "Ma! Where are you!? your daughter's here!" but no one's still here, except the sound of birds chirping from the distance. "Hey guys! Your older sister's here!" I announced, but still silent and same.

"Mom…? You leave without me, are you?" I mumbled under my breath, glancing at my surroundings, I may found the empty bedding made out of dried litters and grass.

But then I heard a guttural snarl in the distance, my ears perked up at the sound. I immediately emerged from the shelter.

I clutching the staff of my spear, drawing myself cautiously at the darkness, surrounded in trees, yet feels familiar at the same time after I was gone in couple of days Osaka.

I swallowed nervously, anxious yet determine to find it, when I took a slow step forward at the source. I shook my fears from now on as focusing on my another mission: to find my family.

~~~
The sound of the flowing river water was makes my heartbeat return to it's normal beat, birds singing, cicadas making a buzzing sound in the distance.
~~~

I reached at the abandoned small house covered in vines and moss was build since almost thousand years ago, nowhere to be used reason is people banned for entering in this  territory due to dangerous creatures living in this place, but rarely case of deaths.

Then I heard a guttural growl reverted on the entire woods, causing the birds flew away from safety, my breath hitched, face went pale as white, almost loosing blood, my grip the hilt of my spear tightened, as my knuckles turns white and shaking from anxiety.

I glanced over my shoulder, potentially there was creature present for years, hiding without showing it's appearance, I spun around immediately, pointing the tip of my spear at the unknown target.

I saw glimpse of two pairs of glowing reptilian eyes in the shadows, staring at the fossil blade of my spear, then shifting it's attention on me, sending shivers through my spine.

But the color of it's eyes seemed familiar, but yet I must be cautious from the stranger, especially like this.

But then, the glimpse of tiny eyes gleamed into darkness, followed the other one, and another, another and the last one, several reptilian eyes staring at me, silently, observing, preparing to pounce, I gulp nervously, still, not moving every inch of my body, I squeezed my eyes shut for a while, then open it once more, broadened my horizons, but they still here for a minute, not moving made me realized, my heart skipped into it's beat, before I could move—a fast of blur emerge from the shadows, five of them, but small enough to kill a massive animal.

They spring higher from the ground, and they landed on my form, making my legs wobble immediately because of their heavy weight, loosing balance and lay on the ground.

"Ah!?" I yelped in surprised, I realized it was my siblings, five of them, greet me from my arrival, licking my cheeks, one of them nuzzle it's small snout on my palm making me tickled, they knew they missed me while I wasn't around in couple of days to explore the entire city.

A massive footsteps reverberated through the woods making birds flew aware of the queen has came and alerted, and the rest of animals retreated, hiding from the thicket.

A massive shadow emerge in the daylight, letting a loud guttural roar reverted the entire forest. The queen of the Apex Predator, or the mother T-Rex has came, making the predators grunted and withdraw themselves away from the darkness. My eyes widened in both awestruck and fear, feeling amazed.

"Woah, mom… you're so amazing!" I said. I hope when I grew up, I'll let my first roar on the entire woods.

~~~
As the roar ended, my mother lowered her massive snout at front of my face, nudging her snout on my chest, I squealed, I cupped the rough scales between my small palm, the mother T-Rex let a low purr, pull her snout away from my chest, only in the few distance, I lift my head, eye-to-eye in both determination and concern.
I moved forward, the mother T-Rex didn't moved away, letting her first daughter draw closer, it's five offsprings watching the scene silently, one of them chirp but they shot them a warning glare, if almost saying 'stay silent!' they shift attention back towards between their mother and me.
The leaves fluttering from the wind, landed on the ground, the sunlight reflects the water river giving reflect on the bark of the tree.
~~~

I stared at my mother for a while, with my vision watery, tears flowing silently on my cheeks for my sudden action in Osaka, I killed people from my revenge, my mother know I embraced my real nature, my heart thundering against my ribs, it knows it was a officially part of my nature, not a crime.

She accept me anyway, neither a half-human or not.

She pressed her snout against my forehead, I did the same action, I lowered my head against the rough surface of her snout, feeling her warmth breath across my face, placing both of my hands beneath it's chin, giving it a few scratches, the mother T-Rex let a low purr, rumble on her throat, it's tongue sticking out, her reptilian eyes half-open, feeling relaxed at my scratches.

She let out a low guttural rumble with a hint of purr, not predator; to welcome it's daughter back on it's current home.

~~~
I pull away, open one of my eyes to eye-to-eye to my mother.
"Mom…? Are you not mad…?" I asked softly, feeling agitated and anxious through my chest, bracing myself for the worst I've ever seen, but the mother T-Rex just nudge her massive head on my side, it's juveniles eventually pounced, I lay on the ground surrounded in five youngsters, licking my cheeks and the other nudge my side, the mother T-Rex grumbled almost laugher, watching her first daughter, alongside with offsprings playing together as one as the wind howled, leaves fluttering in the air, other animals emerged from the bushes and shadows, return on their daily routine without any signs of danger.
