Chapter 18:

Interlude III

I am a God, But I Accidentally Summoned Myself into My Own World as a Human Being!

A few miles west from the Kingdom of Sol, the once empty grasslands were now filled with people.

Looking out to the west, eight huge pillar-like objects were being built in an arc. At the front of the buildings, the Alliance Army has made a makeshift base. Captains Valerie and Frederick stood near and examined the large-scale construction project unfolding before them.

A voice spoke out behind them. “Intriguing isn’t it, my fellow captains? Massive doesn’t even begin to describe these things. Right now they’re already a hundred feet high, but that number will go higher as these things head to completion!”

Cael stood behind them. He merged his division with the Alliance Army, raising the numbers from around five thousand to roughly fourteen thousand soldiers.

Hundreds of heavy artillery reinforced the base, making a defensive line.
Another division from the Kingdom of Luna was also expected to arrive within the week.

Valerie walked over to Cael, “What about the hero parties?”

“Do not fret about them," Cael waved his arm, "I am sure they can handle the occasional demon attack every now and then-”

Frederick quickly grabbed Cael by the collar. “We should send a message to them to come back. They’re not expendable! They’re good men and women whose lives are no different to ours. Don’t you care what happens to them?!”

Cael firmly placed his hand on Frederick’s arm. Frederick squirmed under.
“That is exactly why we cannot call them back. By now, the entire demon army is trailing their backs. It is beyond impossible to fight their way back. The only thing they can do now is move forward.”

Frederick pulled his arm away from Cael's grip with great effort. Cael smiled and started to walk back to the base. He took one last glance at the buildings, then the two.

“As I have said, do not worry, my fellow captains. They are not entirely bait, to put it bluntly. Once this project is complete, we will be able to support them to the fullest. So let us just pray they survive." His expression went dark despite the fact that his facial features were clearly showing that he was smiling, "Besides, I am not completely heartless. My best friend is there as well.”

Valerie and Frederick stood in the stillness of the frosty air as they watch the back of Cael go further away from them.

A few moments in and the sky turned overcast ahead the setting sky. The captains caught glimpse of the orange sun then saw it as a sign to head back as well.
