Volume 1 — Chapter 2: The Beginning of the Story Part 2 — The First Encounter

The next morning was Saturday.

After the strange events of the previous evening, Airi Mizuhara and Rina Tachibana both woke up thinking about the mysterious devices that had appeared in their homes.

Neither girl had any idea that the Miracle Phones were connected to the two strange stars.

Neither knew that another person was already searching for the Power Stones.

And, most importantly, neither knew that their paths were about to cross.

Saturday Morning

Airi came downstairs for breakfast.

Her mother, Kaori Mizuhara, was already preparing breakfast, while her father, Daichi Mizuhara, was reading the morning news.

Kaori looked at her daughter.

“Airi, you seem unusually quiet this morning.”

Airi hesitated.

“I'm fine, Mom.”

Daichi looked over his newspaper.

“Did something happen?”

Airi remembered the strange phone hidden in her room.

“Well... something strange happened last night.”

Kaori turned toward her.

“What happened?”

“I saw two strange stars in the sky. One of them came into my room.”

Her parents exchanged a confused glance.

“And then?” Daichi asked.

Airi lowered her voice.

“I found a strange phone. It looks like a toy, but it lights up by itself.”

Kaori smiled gently.

“Maybe someone left a toy outside.”

“But it appeared after the light!”

Daichi looked thoughtful.

“Whatever it is, be careful with it.”

Airi nodded.

“I will.”

She did not tell them everything.

Somehow, she felt that the strange phone was something she should keep secret for now.

At another house, Rina was having breakfast with her parents.

Her mother, Reiko Tachibana, noticed the thoughtful expression on her daughter's face.

“Rina, you haven't said much this morning.”

Rina looked at the table.

“I'm thinking about what happened last night.”

Her father, Masato Tachibana, looked at her.

“The strange lights?”

“Yes.”

Rina took the Miracle Phone from her bag and placed it on the table.

“This appeared in my room after one of the stars entered the house.”

Reiko looked surprised.

“It looks like a toy phone.”

“I thought so too. But it reacts to my touch.”

Masato examined it carefully.

“Do you know what it is?”

“No.”

Rina looked at the heart-shaped symbol.“And that's what bothers me.”Reiko gently smiled.

“Don't worry too much. If you don't know what it is, just be careful.”

Rina nodded.

“I will.”

She put the Miracle Phone back into her bag.

At School

Later that morning, Airi arrived at school.She met her best friend, Mio Hayasaka, near the entrance.

Mio immediately noticed something was different.

“Airi! You're unusually quiet today.”

Airi smiled nervously.

“Really?”

“You usually talk about swimming before anything else.”

Airi laughed.

“I'm still thinking about yesterday.”

Mio tilted her head.

“About the strange stars?”

Airi froze.

“How did you know?”

“Everyone saw them.”

“Oh... right.”

Mio smiled.

“Come on. We still have a whole Saturday ahead of us.”

Airi nodded.

“Yeah!”

Meanwhile, Rina was walking toward the chemistry club with Kaito Fujisawa and Sana Moriyama.

Kaito looked at her.

“You've been distracted since this morning.”

Rina adjusted her bag.

“I was thinking about the strange phenomenon yesterday.”

Sana smiled.

“The two stars?”

“Yes.”

Kaito laughed.

“Maybe they were just meteorites.”Rina shook her head.

“No. Their movement wasn't normal.”

Sana looked at her curiously.

“You really want to figure everything out, don't you?”

“Of course.”

Rina looked toward the sky.

“There must be an explanation.”

Neither Airi nor Rina knew that the explanation was much stranger than anything they could imagine.

The Villain's Search

Far away from the school, the mysterious man from the previous night continued his search.

His name was Reiji Kurogane.

He stood before the dark crystal.

The crystal slowly pulsed with black energy.

“Two stars have chosen their owners,” Reiji said.

He looked at the ancient drawings of the Power Stones.

“But the girls still don't know what they possess.”

A cold smile appeared on his face.

“Perfect.”

Reiji raised his hand.

Dark energy began flowing from the crystal.

“I need someone who can search for the stones.”

The darkness gathered in front of him.

It twisted and formed the shape of a terrifying creature.

A monster made entirely of shadows appeared.

Its eyes glowed red.

“Go.”

The creature growled.

“Find the Power Stones.”

Reiji's expression became cold.

“And destroy anyone who gets in your way.”

The Shadow Beast disappeared into the darkness.

The Amusement Park

After school, Airi went to an amusement park with Mio and their friends.

“Let's go on the roller coaster!” Airi shouted excitedly.

Mio laughed.

“You haven't changed at all!”

Airi smiled.

“I love this kind of thing!”

At the same time, Rina had also arrived at the same amusement park with Kaito and Sana.

Rina looked around.

“There are more people here than I expected.”

Sana smiled.

“That's because it's Saturday.”

For a while, everything was peaceful.

Airi enjoyed the attractions with Mio.

Rina spent time talking with Sana and Kaito.

Neither girl noticed the other.

But then...

The sky suddenly became dark.

The lights throughout the amusement park began flickering.

The music stopped.

Airi looked upward.

“What's happening?”

Rina also looked toward the sky.

“That isn't normal.”

Suddenly—

BOOM!

A huge mass of darkness appeared in the center of the amusement park.

The Shadow Beast emerged.People screamed.

“Run!”

“Get out of here!”

“What's that thing?!”

The monster raised its arms.

Dark energy exploded across the amusement park.

The rides began growing larger.

The paths stretched in impossible directions.

The entire amusement park began changing.

“It got bigger!” Airi shouted.

Rina stared in disbelief.

“This can't be real...”

The Shadow Beast roared.

Dark energy spread everywhere.

People desperately tried to escape.

Airi suddenly felt something moving inside her bag.

Her Miracle Phone was glowing.

“What?”

At the same moment, Rina's Miracle Phone began glowing too.

The devices released a bright protective light.

Airi didn't understand what had happened.

“Did... something just protect us?”

Rina looked at her own phone.

“I don't know.”

The mysterious light helped the remaining visitors escape safely.

But neither girl realized that the Miracle Phones had protected them.

The Girl Who Was Left Behind

After most people had escaped, Airi was about to leave with Mio.

Then she heard a small voice.

“Help...”

Airi stopped.

“Wait.”

Mio looked at her.

“What is it?”

“I heard someone.”

Airi ran back toward the amusement park.

A little girl was standing alone.

Airi immediately approached her.

“Don't be scared. I'll help you.”

The little girl was crying.

“I can't find my parents...”

Airi knelt beside her.

“It's okay. We'll find them.”

Suddenly, a shadow appeared behind the girl.

Airi's eyes widened.

“Look out!”

The Shadow Beast stretched its hand 

toward the child.

Dark energy began surrounding her.

“No!”

Airi grabbed the girl's hand.

At that exact moment, Rina appeared.

“Move away from her!”

Airi turned around.

“You!”

Rina recognized her.

“You're from my school.”

“There's no time!”

Rina rushed forward.

Both girls grabbed each other's hands.

For a moment, everything became silent.

They looked at one another.

Airi whispered:

“Why does your phone look like mine?”

Rina looked at their hands.

“I don't know.”

Suddenly, both Miracle Phones began glowing.

Beep... Beep...

The symbols on their phones began shining.

“What is happening?!” Airi shouted.

“I have no idea!”

The two devices responded to their joined hands.

A powerful light surrounded them.

Their hearts began beating in the same rhythm.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

Airi looked frightened.

“I can't control it!”

“Neither can I!”

The light became brighter.

Then the transformation began.

The First Transformation

Airi Mizuhara — Cure Pink Heart

A brilliant pink light surrounded Airi.

Her ordinary clothes were covered by sparkling energy.

A ribbon of light appeared around her waist.

Her outfit transformed into a magical warrior costume with pink and white colors and elegant heart-shaped decorations.

Pink ribbons formed around her arms.

A pair of shining accessories appeared in her hair.

Finally, a glowing heart symbol appeared on her chest.

Airi opened her eyes.

“W-What happened to my clothes?!”

She looked at her hands.

“I... I transformed?!”

She turned toward Rina.

“Are you seeing this too?!”

Rina Tachibana — Cure Blue HeartA cool blue light surrounded Rina.

Her clothes transformed into a blue-and-white warrior outfit decorated with elegant heart motifs.

A shining ribbon appeared around her waist.

Blue light formed delicate accessories around her hair and arms.

A glowing heart symbol appeared on her chest.

Rina looked at herself in disbelief.

“This is impossible...”

She touched the symbol on her chest.

“How can this be happening?”

Airi looked at her.

“Maybe our phones did this!”

Rina stared at the Miracle Phone in her hand.

“But why us?”

Neither girl knew the answer.

Neither understood why they had transformed.

But the Shadow Beast did not give them time to think.

It roared and attacked.

Airi stepped backward.

“It's coming!”

Rina raised her hands.

“What are we supposed to do?!”

The Miracle Phones suddenly shone again.

A mysterious voice echoed in their minds.

“The power of the heart awakens when two chosen hearts stand as one.”

Airi looked at Rina.

“Did you hear that?”

“Yes.”

Airi clenched her fist.

“I don't understand any of this.”

Rina nodded.

“Neither do I.”

They looked at the frightened little girl.

Airi's expression became determined.

“But I know one thing.”

Rina looked at her.

Airi stepped forward.

“Darkness may have power, but we won't let you hurt her!”

Rina stood beside her.

“We won't allow you to destroy this world!”

Their Miracle Phones released a brilliant burst of light.

Airi raised her hand.

“Heart Power... awaken!”

Pink energy surrounded her.

Rina raised her hand.

“Heart Power... shine!”

Blue energy joined the pink light.

The two powers merged into a giant glowing heart.

Airi looked at Rina.

“Ready?”

Rina nodded.

“As ready as I'll ever be.”

Airi smiled.

“Then let's do this together!”

They stood side by side.

“Cure Pink Heart!”

“Cure Blue Heart!”

The two newly awakened warriors faced the Shadow Beast.

Far away, Reiji Kurogane watched them through the dark crystal.

His expression changed.

“So the legend was true...”

He stared at the two girls.

“The chosen ones have awakened.”

The battle for the Power Stones had finally begun.
