Chapter 2:
Cave Dweller 2725
Venturing further into the maze-like alleyways, the two cave dwellers stumbled upon a community of the forgotten—the homeless. This small city within a city welcomed them with open arms, enfolding them into a world where belonging was not defined by material possessions but by shared hardships. Here, fellow wanderers of the streets patiently taught them the basics of modern survival, from simple words to the art of dressing.
Gradually, they assimilated into the fabric of Zhina's vast population—still outsiders, yet no longer entirely adrift. But even with this newfound knowledge, they remained without money, jobs, or any semblance of a true identity.
"Har har har! I like you two. Since you don't have names, I'll give you some," boomed a jovial man, the unofficial leader of their ragtag group.
The cave dwellers gazed back at him blankly, their understanding of his words minimal yet marked by curiosity.
With a theatrical flourish, he pointed at each of them, christening them for the first time. "Ogle and Bogli," he proclaimed, pride in his voice.
As the names hung in the air, they turned to one another, then back to the man, echoing their new identities with wide-eyed wonder. "Ogle," one said, gesturing to himself. "Bogli," affirmed the other, nodding. This mutual acknowledgment signified more than just a moniker; it was the embrace of a new existence.
"Har har har! Welcome to the family," the man crowed, his laughter rich and welcoming.
Joining in his mirth, the two cave dwellers clapped their hands, joy radiating from them as they resonated with a sense of belonging. In this strange, steel-and-concrete world, the man became their surrogate father, guiding them through the labyrinth of futurist Zhina with wisdom born of survival.
Clad in attire that no longer marked them as outsiders and armed with a modest vocabulary of five words, they felt a naïve readiness to conquer this new realm. Little did they know, mastering this world required more than words and clothes, but for now, it was a start—a step toward a future as unknown and thrilling as the journey that brought them here.
