Chapter 909:

Atomic check

En Passant Grandmaster

After receiving the spoils from Hui, Mimoko decided to take a chance with the random warp again, but ended up in Lijiang at Jade Shadow Mountain. However, both Fen and Jia were present, meaning Mimoko could challenge everyone.

"Me first then? Well my challenge is random. Yes, a random chess variant, random color too. Oh, but only two-player ones, and ones on the 8x8 board. Also, no spell chess," Fen stated.

Mimoko exchanged the points without hesitation, with atomic chess being drawn as the variant for the challenge.

As soon as the colors were asigned, Mimoko opened the game by moving her pawn to e4 as Fen moved his pawn to e5. "Hmm, seems you're not as skilled with this variant," Mimoko chuckled as she moved her queen to h5.

"What? You're the fool that brought the queen out!" Fen huffed as he moved his pawn to g6.

"This is atomic chess, not regular chess," Mimoko smiled as she stroked her head and moved her queen to h3.

"What an insult to Master Xiao Lin. You match her in style, yet play like an embarrassment," Fen scoffed as he moved his pawn to f5.

"Ahem, just asking, but, are you an expert at atomic chess?" Mimoko angrily smiled as she captured the pawn at f5 with her e-pawn, causing both pawns to vanish from the board.

"My challenge is a random chess variant match. Did you not hear me when I explained things to you, baldy?" Fen snarled as he moved his pawn to d5.

"The name's Mimoko. Mimoko Inoue. Checkmate," Mimoko growled as she moved her queen to d7.

"'Checkmate'? You stupid, I can just capture the queen- Huh!? Why won't it let me!? Why's the board saying you've won!?"

"Because if you capture the queen, the king blows up, and thus, this is mate. I've won."

Fen gritted his teeth in fury.

"You lost, Fen. Accept it," Hui glared.

"We can't let her get close to master! She's Mimoko, Mimoko Inoue, the vile maestro Himitsu's daughter!"

"I'm "vile" now?" Daria glared as she suddenly appeared from behind Fen, causing him to shriek and wet himself as he tumbled to the floor. "You lost. Now, if you have problems with the chess variant, get good at it. Otherwise, don't make a variant roulette your challenge."

"Okaa-chan? Why are you here?" Mimoko gasped.

"Oh! Mimoko, you went n' shaved your head again. I saw how quick you beat Fen, and knowing him, figured he'd be causing a scene, so I zipped over to keep him in line."

"And he pissed himself. What a joke, almost as much as Xiao Lin," Xiu snickered.

"Oh, if the concern is about Mimoko beating her, fear not. My challenge is a riddle of 3-check," Jia smirked. "Oh, and I play White."

"It makes no difference to me," Mimoko shrugged as she exchanged the points.

The game began with Jia moving her pawn to c4 and Mimoko moving her knight to f6. Knight c3, e5, e3, bishop b4, and knight d5 followed, resulting in Mimoko initiating the trade at d5 by capturing the knight there with her knight, and Jia recapturing with her c-pawn.

Mimoko then castled king's side, while Jia moved her bishop to d3. Mimoko countered with pawn to f5, but then Jia moved her queen to h5.

Then to Jia's delight, Mimoko moved her pawn to d6. "Check number 1! Oh, and I believe this forces a second check," she laughed as she captured the pawn at h7 with her queen.

This forced Mimoko to capture said queen with her king, resulting in Jia capturing the pawn at f5 with her bishop, getting in another check just like she said she would.

"Oh, just one more check, and you lose," Jia cackled as Mimoko captured the bishop at f5 with her bishop.

"And how do you plan to do that?" Mimoko scowled as Jia moved her knight to f3.

"You'll find out when you do."

Mimoko rolled her eyes and moved her king to g8. Jia quickly moved her knight to g5, but let out a shriek as Mimoko captured it with her queen.

"NO! Fine! I'll humiliate you with a pawn!" Jia fumed as she moved her pawn to h4.

"Try me," Mimoko glared as she captured the pawn at g2 with her queen.

Jia defiantly marched her pawn to h5, but Mimoko paid it no heed as she moved her bishop to d3.

"One more step... One more step and it's mate," Jia giggled as she moved her pawn to h6.

"For you that is. Checkmate," Mimoko glared as she captured the rook at h1 with her queen, winning the game.

Jia let out a shriek before crumpling to the floor in despair.

"Now, just one remains," Mimoko scowled as she turned to Bai.
