Chapter 2:

Hana’s Story

Secrets of Loenhess

+ Hana has been training with her Sensei Master Shin for several hours now, She, like Aiya is very strong and resilient, but at the moment is becoming discouraged that her swings are missing with just about every attempt. She is letting her anger and inner hatred get the better of her once again.

//Master Shin gracefully dodges her swings…

Master Shin: Your mind is weak, so therefore is your body and spirit, you must focus!

//Hana angrily takes another hard but wild swing which Master Shin easily evades and then trips her sending her falling to the mat face first.

//Hana slams her fist into the mat and yells

Hana: “Ugg, I hate you and I hate this place!”.

//Master Shin can only shake his head. He knows it’s just the anger speaking.

//he helps Hana onto her feet.

Master Shin: (Hana’s back to him, his hand on her shoulder) You have done well today my child, but now it is time to meditate and rest, release you anger and build up your inner strength for tomorrow’s session.

//Hana turns and bows to Master Shin and exits the dojo.

+Master Shin’s Story - He is from a very long line of warrior monks with martial art skills that were unrivaled by all in the Kingdom. He was once part of the premier guards for the Royal Family. Their fierce loyalty and unparalleled obedience to the Royal Family has been unmatched by any Royal guards for the past 100 years. Many have tried to “replicate” the warrior monks fighting style and techniques, but with no success. The warrior monk legacy was thought to have been extinct.

He was from a village not too distant from the Monastery. One day he was brought to the Monastery barely alive after a confrontation with some of his students. The confrontation was actually a betrayal and an ambush from his best students, a brother and sister duo. Unfortunately, the pair was led astray by a silver tongued “Royal” devil who convinced them to turn on Master Shin.

He has become quite fond of Hana over their many years of training together. He is the only one that Hana respects at the Monastery. In his many years at the Monastery, she is the only one that he has personally tutored and taught the ways of the warrior monk. Master Shin could see past her hatred and anger and saw the light which shined deep within her. He is very cautious of who he trusts because of his past, but he can sense the good in her aura and has devoted all his time to bringing her light forward to shine outward. He will not repeat the past where his training was cold and distant.

+ Back at the Monastery - As Hana walks back to her room, she passes three troublemaker girls in the hallway who are bullying a teenage boy for his food, the same as they have done for the past week or so.

//As Hana walks by she mumbles under her breath

Hana: “tsk, what a weakling”.

//The girls grow quite as Hana walks by and one girl whispers to the others

Girl One: “she’s the crazy loner”.

//Hana hear what was said but ignores them and keeps on walking.

//the boy, shame in his face, hands over the food.

//the girls push him to the ground and walk away laughing.

//The next day the same situation is occurring, and Hana again ignores them and keeps on walking.

//However, the boy is now getting tired of the bullying and angrily yells while peering back at Hana

Boy; “I hate you, I hate you all!”

// He wildly takes several swings at one of the girls but missing each time.

//The other girls push him to ground and start to kick him.

//Hana stops, pause momentarily and sighs as she looks toward the sky.

Hana: I know I should protect the weak and innocent, but….

//Hana looks to the ground.

Hana: tsk, just this one time”.

+ Hana’s back story – Hana had become the self-proclaimed black swan of the family, and it all started shortly after her younger sister’s birth. She could see the gleam in their eyes when they looked at Aiya.

//In the hospital room, Mom holding Aiya

Mother: Hana come over and say hello to your new baby sister, Aiya.

//Hana comes over and shyly touches her hand.

Hana: it’s so soft …

//Hana touches he own hand.

Hana: not like mine though…

Hana was not smart like her parents and younger sister, so she got bad grades in school no matter how hard her parents tried to tutor her.

//Hana and her father studying at the dining room table.

Father: It’s okay, it’s a really hard question. I even struggled with it. We’ll keep practicing.

//father smiles and laugh as he patted Hana on the head.

She was pretty but thought she was very plain looking and not beautiful like her mother. She had a tom-boy style and never tried to make herself look pretty.

//In Hana’s room, Mom smiling and holding up a dress. Aiya crawling on the floor.

Mother: Hana, do you want to try this dress on. You would look so cute in it.

//Hana looks in the mirror at herself very disappointedly.

Hana: (she whispers) I’ll never be as beautiful as you though….

Over the years had become more and more distant from her family and developed a rather rebellious attitude and rarely ever smiled or laughed. Most of the time she scowled or growled at anything her parents said to her when they tried to involve her in conversation.

//Hana walks into the kitchen for breakfast.

Mother: (cooking eggs, Aiya on a stool next to Mom) Good Morning Hana!

Hana: (in a low voice) What’s so good about it. (Loudly growls)

Despite her poor attitude and disrespect toward her family, they loved her very much and tried to show her that with every opportunity.

//still in kitchen. Hana sitting at table with mom hugging her.

Mother: I made your favorite for breakfast! But first take this pill.

Young Aiya would try to get Hana to play, but Hana was very resentful of her and would have nothing to do with her.

//Aiya on the swing waiting for Hana to come home from school.

//Hana walks by.

Aiya: (on the swing) Hana your home, let’s play!

Hana: (sneers and keeps walking) Yea right, like that would ever happen. Humph!

Hana was however very interested in video games, as she did have very good reflexes and hand eye coordination like her father. This had become her one great joy and passion; she would spend hours in her room by herself each day playing interactive warrior and combat video games... practically ignoring everything else in life.

//Hana mimicking the moves of the person in the video with a kick.

Hana: Hiya, take that!

Hana had been waiting for months for the new release of her favorite interactive combat video game.

//Hana watching a commercial on the TV

Man on TV: One day only, the game of the year will be available tomorrow. Get this limited release or get left out….

Hana: (Jumps for joy) Mom and I will need to wait in line early in the morning at the video store to make sure I can get a copy of the game.

//She sprinted eagerly out of her room to catch her mother who was just leaving to go to the grocery store. She was so excited, more so than she had been in years.

//Nearly out of breath as she tugs at her mother shirt.

Hana: Mom! Mom! The game is finally being released tomorrow. We must go first thing in the morning to have a chance at getting this game.

//Her mother was so happy to see Hana so excited,

//but suddenly and sadly she remembers a very important meeting she had scheduled tomorrow (to discuss the usage of the serum).

Mother: Looking downward with Hana smiling and holding her shirt) I’m so so sorry Hana but I have and extremely important meeting tomorrow.

//Hana’s face turns to sudden rage, and she yells very loudly and angerly

Hana: (lets go of mother’s shirt with head held down) I knew you would not understand, you never do, if it were for Aiya you would go.

Hana: (looks very intently at her mother) I hate you! I hate you all! I wish you all would just die!

//Hana runs outside the house to her hiding spot on the roof of the house.

//Hana’s mother looks dejectedly down at the ground as she says

Mother: your right…. You girls are what matters most to me…okay I will do it for you tomorrow morning.

//Mother knowing Hana has gone to the roof.

Mother: I let you know as soon as I return from the store, she should have calmed down by then and come back inside.

// Little did Hana and her mother know the events that would transpire that night.

+Back at the Monastery - Hana turns around and starts to walk back. The boy is on the ground bleeding from the girls attack and Hana helps him up. The biggest of the three girls says.

Big Girl: Well, well, looks like you knight in shining armor has finally come to your rescue.

Hana: No don’t be stupid, that would not be a fair fight, so he will defend himself against you.

//Hana turns toward the boy, who looks totally stunned now, and says.

Hana: You need to control your emotions, release your anger, steady your breathing and focus only on the sound of your heart beating”.

//The boy turns toward the biggest girl, takes a deep breath and focus’ on the sound of his heart beating, just as Hana had instructed.

//The big girl lunges at him and throws several punches which he easily evades.

//The Boy growing more confident then throw his own punch which lands square on her nose.

Boy: Take this you big creep!

//the punch sends her backwards onto the ground.

Big Girl: (holding her bloody nose) What! No way! … It hurts so much!

//The big girl crying gets up and runs away… and the other girls follow as well.

//The boy very excitedly turns back toward Hana,

//Hana’s mouth is wide open and in shock she says,

Hana: No way! Wow! that actually worked! I was preparing myself to round kick her in the face”.

//Hana laughs and turns and walks away.

//The boy’s face goes blank as he faints.
