Mom & Dad’s Story

// Dad/Diachi is walking back to his office at the Military base when he suddenly sees a suspicious man walking out of the lab building.

//As the man walks by Diachi notices that he does not have a badge and is wearing a black jacket with the hood up on a perfectly hot sunny day.

//Diachi turns back toward the man.

Diachi: (speaking to man) Excuse me sir, can I speak with you for a moment.

//the man keeps walking and picks up his pace.

Diachi: Sir! Can you stop so I can speak with you for a moment?

//the man starts to run

//Diachi chases the man

Diachi: I’ll take the short cut around the building and cut him off.

//Diachi circles around the building, but the man has disappeared.

Diachi: what? Where did he go? There was no place for him to go.

//The man is squatting down staring at the Diachi from atop a building. The man smirks and quietly laughs.

Diachi: Who was that man. I better check the lab and see if there is anything unusual going on.

//The Diachi enter the lab building and finds the guard at the front desk looking forward sitting straight up in his chair… but with his throat slit.

Diachi: It’s as if he never saw it coming….

Diachi: What’s going on here?

//Diachi now extremely disturbed by the events takes off for the laboratory facilities on the second floor. He runs quickly up the stairs and flings open the door.

Diachi: No, No, No, how could this happen.

//Diachi hits the alarm as he runs down the hall. Two of the guards at the entrance to the main lab facility and lying dead on the floor, their throats also slit.

// the Diachi enters the lab, kneels where a lab scientist is on the floor dead, same as the others.

//Diachi gets up and looks around, it looks like the assailant was searching for something.

Diachi: What were you looking for and did you find it?

Diachi: Could this somehow by connected to you?

+ How Mom and Dad Met – Dad/Diachi also went to the Nagatori Military Academy but was not quite as accomplished as Aiya. He far exceeded everyone else at the Academy in the area of combat but was just a slightly above average student in the classroom. By his last year he was a high-ranking officer, third under the Supreme Cadet Commander.

Diachi was constantly in the gym area working on his combat skills and training. Diachi was extremely good looking and something of a ladies’ man but really had eyes for one girl.

//Diachi is staring intently at a girl while doing sit ups. The Supreme Cadet Commander (and his best friend at the academy) right next to him is also doing sit ups.

Commander: I’ve never thought I see the day when you didn’t have enough nerve to ask a girl out.

//Diachi still staring intent at girl.

//The girl is practicing her sword skills and takes an overhead swing and stumbles to the ground

Commander: Hello, earth to Diachi…anyone home.

//the Commander stops and throws his towel at Diachi.

Diachi: Huh, what the freak man.

Commander: Her sword form is absolutely atrocious but her other form (he elbows Diachi in the arm and winks) now that is a thing of beauty.

//the girl looks around, embarrassed, but notices Diachi looking at her and shyly smiles his way as she gets up. She determinedly starts practicing again.

//Diachi embarrassed himself looks away.

Diachi: Not only is she the most beautiful girl at the Academy, but she is extremely smart, top of her class in math and science, and head of the Chemistry club. I went to one of the Chemistry club open houses once, she was giving a speech about some science stuff, I didn’t understand a word, but yet I couldn’t take my eyes off her.

//Both Diachi and the Commander laugh…

Diachi: Nah, she would never go out with me, I hear she’s already being recruited by the Military to run a new independent research lab, she couldn’t possibly have any interest in someone like me.

Commander: You’re right, I’ll just have to ask her out.

//Diachi throws the towel back at the Commander and they both laugh…but little does Diachi know what the future has in store for him.

//Later that evening, the same girl from the gym (Ena) is walking out from the library carrying a stack of books.

//Diachi sees her from one of the windows inside the library. He’s staring at her and is in heaven again, but he suddenly notices a suspicious man in a black jacket with his hood up following her.

There have been a series of assault attempts on the academy campus lately, they believe from someone outside the campus area.

//Diachi bangs on the window and yells to get her attention, but the windows are very thick, and she doesn’t hear anything.

Librarian: Young man please settle down!

Diachi: (to himself) I must help her!

//Diachi storms out of the library.

//The assailant getting closer silently starts to run up from behind toward Ena.

//Ena stumbles a little and drops one of her books and note cards fall out everywhere.

Ena: oh drats, not my research lab notes…those are very important…

//Ena kneels to pick up the book and notes cards right as the assailant lunges at here.

//the assailant being very nimble tumbles forward and lands on his feet.

//Ena is very frightened but gets up and runs the other way.

//Looking back to see if the man is following Ena ends up running right into arms of Diachi’s who had come to help her.

Diachi: Whoa there, Are you okay?

//Ena, thinking she has been captured by the black hooded man, throws a couple of punches with her eyes closed, but then she opens her eyes and realizes it was Diachi and stops.

Ena: Oh no, I’m so sorry, but this man…

//They both look to where the man was, but he has mysteriously disappeared.

Ena: What? He was just there…I bent down, and he went flying forward and….

Diachi: I know, I saw him too from inside the library…

//The black jacket man looks down from atop a school building.

Black Jacket man: I’ll be back…you can count on that.

//black jacket man disappears into the night.

//Ena gathers herself

Ena: Well, l thank you very much kind sir for coming to my rescue.

//Diachi suddenly shy again…

Diachi: Oh well yes…umm I’m Dia…

Ena: I know who you are…Diachi Hitori…. The winner three years in a row of the school’s annual combat classic tournament…I’ve read all about you in the school paper. I watched everyone one of your matches last year in the tournament.

Diachi: What? You have? You know me?

Ena: (Ena smiles coyly) Why yes, I was observing you and taking notes from the best on how to improve my own combat skills.

Diachi: Oh yes, observing and taking notes… so did I help?

Ena: you actually did help, because of you I passed my combat skills test… just barely, but I passed nonetheless.

//they both laugh.

Ena: So I am grateful for you coming to my rescue yet once again.

//Diachi bows

Diachi: I will humbly except all opportunities to come to your rescue my lady.

//The two laugh again.

Ena: Well…it does seem like I will be in need of a bodyguard now…

//Diachi at that moment without hesitation takes her hand, kneels, and bows his head…

Diachi: It would be my lifelong honor and privilege to always be by your side and protect you, my lady.

//Ena steps back and curtsies to Diachi

Ena: And I humbly accept your lifelong vow of protection.

//So, the story of Diachi and Ena begins….

//as they joyfully walk away into the night…

Ena: I remember you came to one of the Chemistry clubs open house’s…

Diachi: (surprised) You do?

Ena: Of course, silly, you were in the back row, third seat from the left, but had an awfully glazed look on your face. Yet your gaze was somehow warm and had a soothing gentleness, it actually helped me calm down. It was the first speech where I wasn’t really nervous speaking in front of a crowd. But I was disappointed you never came back…

Diachi: Um well, um see I, um…

//Ena laughs and hands her books to Diachi and take hold of his arm as they continue walking.

Ena: No need to apologize, you’ll have plenty of time to make it up…. Do you have a date for the upcoming Annual Masquerade Ball?

//Diachi is caught off guard by the sudden questions and begins to stutter awkwardly.

Diachi: Umm, errr, uhhh…. No, wait, yes, wait no….

Ena: Then it’s a date!

//Ena then excitedly run back to her dorm room.

Diachi: Whew, wait, what just happened?

//During the last dance of the Masquerade Ball is where Diachi and Ena have their first kiss and fall madly and deeply in love with each other. From that point forward, they are always together, that is until Ena’s fateful night.

+ Back on the Base –

//the other guards have come and Diachi explains the situation and about the man in the black hooded jacket.

//In the Security camera room reviewing footage of the events with his best friend from the base Matsu and the Base Commander.

Diachi: It’s like they never saw him coming, he appears out of thin air. He knows where the cameras are too…not one good shot of his face. This man is way beyond any professional I’ve ever seen.

//Matsu then notices a tattoo on his wrist…and gasp quietly.

Diachi: (looking at Matsu) what, did you see anything?

Matsu: No (deflects conversation), but what was in that vial he carried out of the lab?

Base Commander: I’ll try and talk with the head scientist to get more information about what goes on in that lab, but sometimes they won’t even tell me, they just say it classified, need to know basis only.

Base Commander: Let’s put the entire base on lock down and full alert. We can’t afford another incident like this; the General will already be very displeased.

Diachi and Matsu: Yes Sir!

//as they walk out of the lab building

Diachi: I know you saw something in the video, was it the tattoo? What does it mean?

Matsu: I need to talk to someone, but watch your back my good friend…

//In an unknown warehouse the Black hooded man and a Royal Nobleman (in a cloak with his face covered) are speaking

Royal Nobleman: Did you get the vial?

Black Hood Man: Yes, my Lord.

//he hands the vial to the nobleman.

Royal Nobleman: Oh yes, my brother, I mean the King, will be very pleased. Well done, your service will not go unrecognized.

Black Hood Man: Thank you my Lord!

Royal Nobleman: I take it as always no one suspects a thing; you were like a ghost…

Black Hood Man: The Elite Guard Captain did follow me out of the building, but I quickly lost him…

Royal Nobleman: I see…. Diachi Hitori I presume? Hum… this has gone on for far too long…. it’s time we put an end to his sad saga…. see to it that it gets done… and do not fail me this time!

Black Hood man: Yes, my Lord, I absolutely will not fail this time!

//black hood man vanishes.

//Royal Nobleman turn to where the black hood man was

Royal Nobleman: and this time…tsk… I’ll never get used to vanishing like that… kind of gives me the creeps…

//But there was someone else lurking in the shadows.

Royal Nobleman: I want you to go also and make sure he doesn’t fail.

Shadow figure: As you wish my Lord.

+ back at the Base,

//Diachi is not one to just sit around and wait, so he goes out to patrolling the grounds.

// suddenly he catches a glimpse out of the corner of his eye, something atop the building.

//Diachi races to investigate, and in a Ninja like style he climbs to the top of the building.

//He turns and looks all around the area and then notices the black hooded man one building over,

//Diachi quick kneels so not to be seen.

//the black hood man appears to be headed in the direction of Diachi’s office.

//Diachi quietly follows, the two leaping from building to building, until suddenly the black hood man disappears.

Diachi: dammit, where did he go. I’ve got a bad feeling…

//suddenly the black hood man appears from behind and run toward Diachi with his sword raised ready to slash at him.

//Diachi reacting on pure instincts senses the danger and rolls forward and evades his sword slash.

//Diachi turns around, but he has disappeared again

Diachi: how can you defeat what you can’t even see!

//again sensing the man coming in for another attack, Diachi once again rolls forward and evades the sword slash.

Black Hood man: tsk…you’re good, I have had this much fun in quite a while. To bad play time is over…

Diachi: (thinking to himself) Okay, I may not be able to see him, but I certainly can sense his attack moves.

//Diachi stands and gets into an attack stance with his sword. Closes his eyes and awaits his next attack.

//the black hood man reappears and comes at Diachi with sword over his head.

//Diachi sensing his movement blocks his overhead slash and this time slashes back and grazes the black hood man in his side.

// they both regain their balance and face each other in attack stances.

Black Hood man: (smiles) I haven’t come against someone with your skills and senses in quite a while. Not since that old fool, but I put him down too.

//The “old fool” was the black hood man’s Sensei. He thought he had killed his sensei, but it turns out that the Sensei just badly injured and was rescued by villagers who brought him to a nearby Monastery where he was eventually healed of his wounds. The Sensei having nowhere else to go and indebted to the people of the Monastery decided to stay on there are help teach the children. The Sensei was none other than Master Shin, Hana’s teacher.

//With the strike he has landed Diachi is confident he can now win the battle.

Diachi: I am not that old yet, nor a fool, so come at me with all you have you bast--d…

//they both charge at each other, when suddenly Diachi, jumps over the black hood man and as he lands on the ground, he manages to slice him in the back.

//the black hood man falls to the ground bleeding badly and unable to move.

Diachi: It’s over now, you’re in no shape to resist…. I’m taking you into custody.

//just then the black hooded man sees a figure directly behind Diachi.

Black hooded man: I’m not the one you need to worry about…

Diachi suddenly turns around: Huh? No!

//Suddenly a beautiful woman appears from the night mist, she is dressed in a tight black jumpsuit and has a pink patch over her left eye.

//Diachi unable to react in time is then hit in the neck by a dart and falls to the ground on knees… and his last words are…

Diachi: Ena…. I’m so sorry …. I failed to protect you all as I promised…. Please forgive me….

Woman: Men are always so dramatic…tsk… And you, must I always save you… brother. I should kill you right here and now you worthless piece of crap. But my Lord apparently thinks you still have some value in those old bones…

Woman: (speaking to her minions) Get him out of my sight. Take him back to the safe house and have the good doctor come over and tend to his wounds.

//Several of the woman’s minions appear and carry the black hood man away.

Woman kneels next to Diachi’s body: Too bad, you were so close to avenging your wife’s killer, tsk… but maybe one day I will do you that favor.

//She takes him back to his office and slumps Diachi over his desk. The poison in the dart that she used dissolves in a couple hours leaving no trace. She types a note making it look like it was a suicide.

//So ends the story of Diachi and Ena. Their only chance for redemption now rests in the hands of their two daughters, Aiya and Hana.
