A promotion match [Special]

"An invitation to play an exhibition match?" Mimoko gasped.

"That's right. Though it's a year off, the next Chess Olympics will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. As such, to help promote things, the WWCF suggested you play Uzbekistan's Nodirbek in an exhibition match in Samarkand," Daria smiled.

"When?"

"Uh, a day."

"A DAY!? Okaa-chan, that's too short notice!"

"Um, well, ahaha, I figured you'd want it out of the way quickly..."

"How many rounds?"

"5 in a single day."

"Fair. So, this means I have to pack my bags then."

Yet the next thing she knew, Mimoko was suddenly seated at a board before a short and stout nerd with buck teeth and swirly glasses.

"Um, who are you?" she asked as she opened the game by moving her pawn to e4.

"I'm Nodirbek! 100 elo version!" the man laughed as he moved his pawn to e5.

"Um, I thought I was supposed to be playing one of the top Nodirbeks," Mimoko frowned as she moved her knight to f3.

"Nope! You get me tonight!" Nodirbek laughed as he moved his pawn to d6.

"I thought they wanted me to play a fellow grandmaster," Mimoko sighed as she moved her knight to c3.

"I am a grandmaster, just not the chess kind!" Nodirbek laughed as he moved his bishop to g4.

Mimoko rolled her eyes and moved her bishop to c4 as Nodirbek widened his grin while moving his pawn to g5.

"Are you serious?" Mimoko glared as she captured the pawn at e5 with her knight.

"YUP!" Nodirbek laughed as he captured the queen at d1 with his bishop.

"Check," Mimoko snarled as she captured the pawn at f7 with her bishop.

Nodirbek moved his king to e7.

"Checkmate," Mimoko sighed as she moved her knight to d5, winning the game.

Nodirbek then began clapping before suddenly turning into a muscular humanoid tiger. Mimoko blinked in confusion, but a few moments later, she awoke from her dream.

"Morning, sleepy head. So, what did ya dream about?" Daria asked as she poked her head in.

"Ngh, I don't have an exhibition match with Nodirbek, do I?" Mimoko mumbled.

"'Nodirbek'? Which one?"

"I don't know... Ngh, the one that looks like a nerd and turns into a tiger."

"... You had a wild dream, didn't you."

"Ugh, yes I did. So am I scheduled for any exhibition matches by the WWCF?"

"No?"

"Good," Mimoko grumbled as she rolled out of bed.
