The Doctor Is In

//Aikiko’s Story – Her true passion and previous profession was that of a Nurse. Aikiko was a very well-respected Pediatric Nurse in Loenhiem’s largest hospital and had worked her way up to the night shift charge nurse. She worked the night shift so she could go to school during the day to earn her master’s degree in nursing in hope of becoming a physician assistant. She was also a single mom taking care of her 4-year-old daughter.

//Three years earlier - During an evening shift after working three 12-hour nights back-to-back and studying for final exams during the day, she had fallen asleep at the desk while entering patient notes into the computer system. All of sudden alarms start to go off and Aikiko awakens but still feels a little woozy.

Aikiko: What’s happening? (stumbles to her knees) My head, why am I so woozy?

Co-worker #1: Aikiko, are you okay, let me help you up. You’ve been working so much lately and must have fallen asleep.

Aikiko: What’s going on, I was taking notes and then everything went blank. Why are the alarms going off?

Co-worker #1 – You stay here, let me check to see what is going on.

Co-worker # 2 – Aikiko!, some of the children are missing from their rooms….

//Unfortunately, it was determined by the hospital board of directors that Aikiko was responsible for the disappearance of the children, and she was forced to resign her position and lost her nursing license. She was never able to “legally” work as a nurse after that.

//Aikiko resorted to taking several lower paying jobs at one time in order to support her daughter and herself. However, she never lost her passion for nursing and began to help the sick and medically needy people in the neighbor off the record so to speak. These were mainly the people who either could not afford to pay for healthcare on their own. Her reputation and skills became widely known in the underground sector of the city, which lead to Aikiko helping those in need of medical attention who could not be seen in a hospital because of their less than reputable status in society.

//Back to the office – Naomi returns a few minutes later with Aikiko’s medical bag, and then immediately goes into the washroom and returns with a bowl of fresh water and some towels. It’s obvious that Naomi has done this before. She has actually become quite the little helper and apprentice for her mother.

//Aiya and Hana awaken as Aikiko and Naomi began to treat their wounds.

Aiya: Thank you Miss Aikiko… and you little one, I’m quite impressed.

Naomi: Mom is really the doctor here; I just help where I can… (bows her head) but thank you Miss Aiya.

Hana: Ow, ow! (as Aikiko bandages her up).

Aiya (laughs): Don’t be such a baby!

Hana: Oiy, it hurts! We all can’t be the super solider like you.

Aikiko (looking a little confused): Your wounds are already healing quite nicely though, actually I’ve never seen wounds heal at such a rate.

//Aikiko then reaches to look at the wounds on Aiya’s face, but Aiya unexpectedly grabs her hand.

Aiya: I’ll be okay Miss Aikiko but thank you very much for the concern.

Aikiko (looking at her face): Your skin is incredibly smooth and beautiful, and not a single scar. Isn’t that a little odd for someone in your line of business?

//Just then Mika walks in the office. He pauses for a second and then goes about his business.

Mika (looking at Aiya): Business as usual I see.

//He has seen Aiya many times in this condition from previous mission, but secretly it tears him up on the inside.

Aiya: Yeah, just jumping out a second-floor window right before a major explosion.

Mika: I see. Easy stuff then.

//Aiya throws a towel at Mika.

Aiya: Yes, easy stuff!

Hana: If that was easy, I’m not going to last the week in this business.

//The gang all laughs. They have averted any further questions for the mean time about their remarkable healing powers.

Mika’s back story – Mika was recruited straight out of High School by the Loenhess Military because of his tremendous computer skills. He was given a top-secret security clearance and worked closely together with Aiya on many of her missions as her eyes in the mission control room. By the age of 13 he had hacked into every one of the Loenhess’ governmental mainframes and was making money on the side altering client records and making certain events disappear. He also made money the old-fashioned legitimate way by helping his father in the auto repair shop and repairing and reprogramming computers on his own time.

//Mika has resigned from the Military just days before Aiya’s last mission to help care for his father who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. His mother has passed away several years earlier and he had always regretted not spending more time with her before she passed away.

//Back in the office – Aiya and Hana are now patched up and ready to continue their investigation of the events.

Aiya (Stands and bows): Thank you very much for your assistance, we are very grateful to have meet you.

Hana: Yes, thank you very much to the both of you. (as she pats Naomi on the head).

Mika: Well ladies, I think we may have some business to attend to now. I’ll search through any traffic cam footage that I can find in the area of the warehouse.

Aiya: I don’t know about you all, but I think it’s our time to strike back!
