Chapter 3:
Murasaki Misa
Clang!
I tried to project an aura of confidence as I slammed a shovel into the ground.
"And we're having a dig here why!?" Olga glared.
"Uh, cuz it's far away and it's said to be haunted," I shrugged.
The dig site I had chosen? A patch of dirt underneath a bridge over the riverbank. The haunted part? Made that up. Hey, they said I just need to stall for time, so what better way to do so than just aimlessly prodding the hard dirt with a shovel?
"I've never heard of this place. Nothing on the internet about it," Tilda scowled.
"Never trust the internet," I smiled.
Olga and Tilda glared at me skeptically.
"What!? That's a Misa thing to say!"
"Uh, I guess she would say that... Still, not the same... aura?"
"Well fuck you too, twink poser."
And so we began digging or trying to dig through the small patches of dirt.
"I do hope authorities don't confront us over this," Olga scowled.
"Why would they? It's a dig, right?" I shrugged.
"Oh, do you think archeologists can just go and dig up any patch of dirt anywhere in the world whenever they feel like it? There's procedures, and we certainly didn't fulfil any by coming here, nor would anyone grant us a permit to dig on a narrow dirt walking path UNDER A BRIDGE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY!"
"Can't we just say there's artifacts?"
"Oh yes, there's an artifact buried under each of the support pillars for the Eiffel Tower, let's dig up those areas, no care if the tower collapses and France loses all it's tourism revenue in a single go, we'd find nothing and they'd be all smiles!"
"That sounds great!"
"Girl, she's being sarcastic," Tilda scowled.
"What does that mean?"
"IT MEANS IF WE TRY DIGGING UNDER THE PILLARS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER FRENCH POLICE WILL ARREST OR EVEN KILL US ON THE SPOT, YOU IDIOT!" Olga roared.
"I thought you said they'd be happy if we dug!"
"NO, YOU IDIOT, PEOPLE DON'T LIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE DIG HOLES ANYWHERE, EVEN OUT IN THE WILDERNESS FAR AWAY FROM ANY SIGNS OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION!"
"Then... why are we digging here?"
Olga's glasses cracked again. "Ah, I believe the legendary "Murasaki Misa" said, 'There! There! We can dig at this ancient abandoned archeological site I remember hearing about'. CARE TO ENLIGHTEN ME AS TO HOW THIS QUALIFIES AS SUCH!?"
Oh shit...
"Uh, have you heard of ancient pottery? Yeah, lots of jomon here," I nervously laughed as I slammed my shovel into the ground.
Rumble! WHOOSH!
And suddenly, I was falling before I felt pain.
"Ugh, what happened?" I groaned as I rolled to my feet.
"Hmm? Uh, is that ruins I see?" Tilda's voice echoed as a light darted around me.
"I don't believe it... Men, proceed down after her," Olga growled.
Suddenly, men in suits were down here with me. They all pulled out flashlights, allowing me to see that I was in... some underground cave with stone archways with stuff carved... Uh, this isn't a movie set is it?
"You lead," one of the men glared.
"Uh, men first?" I nervously chuckled.
"Ladies first, sweetheart," Tilda giggled as she leapt down with Olga.
"Then you two-"
"EXPERTS first. You're Murasaki Misa, the woman who always checks for traps," Olga growled.
"'Traps'?"
"You know, poison darts, blades flying out of the dark, pitfalls, boulders?" Tilda grinned.
"This is just some patch of dirt under a bridge-"
"IT'S A NEW ARCHEOLOGICAL DISCOVERY!" Tilda and Olga angrily shouted.
Ah, fuck.
Leading the way, unconsentually, I walked down the stone hall while the suits provided light. Everything seemed fine until I stepped on a brick, and nearly fell through a newly formed hole. If I wasn't in shape, surprisingly given my lifestyle, I'd have been unable to catch myself and pull myself out, and yes, I had to pull myself out since the suits didn't even bother rushing to help.
"Are you not going to assist a lady when she's in danger?" I huffed.
"Keep moving, girl," one of the suits snarled.
Well, some friend you are! Then again, it was the suits that kidnapped me, so they already were on my bad side.
Continuing on, I stepped on another shaky block, but instead of stopping, I just bolted for it.
"HEY! DON'T RUN!" one of the suits shouted as he and the others began chasing after me.
But before they could reach me, some flopped down to the ground, others fell through the floor, and one got crushed by a rock from above.
By the time I stopped, there was just one suit left along with Olga and Tilda.
"You crafty bitch!" the suit roared as he pulled out a gun.
"AH! Why're you pointing that at me!?" I cried as I hooped back.
"Yeah, don't-"
But before Tilda could continue, everything began to shake. We all stood still, yet nothing happened.
"Tch, useless woman. Let's just off-"
BADOOMSPLAT!
Tilda and Olga stared in unamusement at the blood splattered all over them while I trembled at the sight of the blood oozing out from beneath a large stone block.
"Yeah, maybe having her lead was a bad idea," Tilda groaned.
"OH YOU THINK!?" Olga fumed.
Says the two that insisted I lead. Jerks.
Turning around, I suddenly found myself backed up against a stone alter and atop it, a spice jar?
Cautiously opening the jar, an aroma of cinnamon suddenly crept out.
"Mmm, it- ...!?"
My jaw dropped in horror as I suddenly saw a reflection of myself... BALD! No, not just bald, my eyebrows and eyelashes were gone too! Omega bald! Slowly, I raised my hands, my hands in the reflection raised too. I felt my head...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! I'M BALD! I'M BALD! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! I LOOK LIKE A FREAK!"
Splash!
"AAAAAAAHHH! NO! DON'T DOUSE ME WITH WATER CUZ I'm BALD! NOW MY HAIR'S WET AND- Huh?"
Suddenly, I could feel my hair again.
"You were hallucinating," Tilda smirked as she screwed the cap back on her cantina.
"Oh... So, we take this up?" I asked.
"You were unsightly," Olga glared as she snatched the bald powder jar from me. "Don't trigger any traps as we make our way back."
Too make a long story short, I didn't, probably because I already triggered all the traps on the suits. Uh, hope I won't get in trouble for that.
But as soon as we climbed out, I think I was still under the hallucinogenic affects, cuz I saw an undead mummy grinning at us.
"Uh, splash me again. I'm seeing a mummy," I nervously smiled.
Tilda and Olga went pale.
"Uh, you two hallucinating too?"
Then, the mummy pulled out... a pink smartphone? I feel like I've seen that-
Vrrr!
My heart thumped as I felt a vibration in my pocket. Slowly, I pulled out my phone and saw I had a new message.
"Miho, it's me" from... MISA!?
