Chapter 3:
The Outcast of the Mage's Association
“Why are you testing me in front of everyone!” I screamed at that man who introduced himself as Luthian.
As if it wasn’t enough that he carried me inside like some apples he plucked from a tree, he also brought me inside a massive room, where other people were sitting and looking at the front.
He said something like we have to measure my magic altitude?
“Tannie what is this all?”
“This is an auditorium, Meilyn, those kids sitting there are probably getting educated before they are sent out on missions.”
“Then why am I here? I just wanted to register! Now they all stare at me! Help me, do something!” I whispered towards Tannie while clinging to him.
“Seriously, where is the confident girl at?”
“She left for a vacation!”
“Meilyn! You are being far too scared as always! Should I bite some sense into you!”
“Maybe you should, then I can excuse myself!”
“What am I supposed to do with you!” Tannie sighed.
But what can I do Tannie! I am bad with crowds!
And all of them are staring at me like I am some mysterious creature from a dungeon!
Yeah where we lived there were tons of dungeons far inside the dark forest that was demonized? Well that’s what Tannie called it.
Wait, am I really so strange?!
“So Meilyn you just have to hold out your hand towards the prism” Luthian explained.
"In front of everyone?” I asked hoping he would take me somewhere else.
“Of course! This is a once in a lifetime performance they will see! We have to show the world!”
Once in a lifetime my ass! I don’t want to, look at them can’t you see. Looking at me as if I was a bug!
“Just do it Meilyn and get over it!” Tannie said.
“That pet did he just talk?” One of the students uttered.
“Who are you calling a pet you little M-”
“... shush Tannie” I interrupted him.
However he was moving frantically as if he wanted to attack them.
Wait, should I just let him? If Tannie attacked them, then there would be an uproar and the people could be sent outside of this room. That’s right that’s brilliant Meiyn! You are so s-
“Just move already Meilyn!” Tannie yelled out and pulled me towards the thing they call prism.
“That ball is not dangerous right?” I asked.
“No no it isn’t just reach your hand towards it” Luthian said.
“Okay, if that’s all well…”
I reached my hand out.
Boom
The ball splitted in half.
“Ehm… is it supposed to break like that?”
I panicked.
Oh no I went ahead and caused a mess again what should I do! Should I apologize, should I run?
When I looked at Tannie he smirked.
“Why are you smirking like that? I caused a mess!” I yelled at him.
“As expected of the one I chose as my master, you are a strong force!” He laughed hysterically.
“Stop already, you are making it worse!”
As he continued laughing like a maniac I took a peek at the crowd of people. All of them looked terrified at me.
“Wah! What a monster!”
“Seriously I never saw anyone breaking that prism!”
“That will cost her at least a liver!”
What do you mean liver?! Do they want to kill me?!
I should make a run for it.
But just as I tried to run for my dear life, Luthian caught me by my neck.
“You”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to break it!”
“You are-”
“...Yeah I am a mess! Sorry I didn’t meant to-”
“... A demon! You really are one!” He cheered.
“So you won’t kill me?”
“Of course not! How could I let you get killed, you need to join my squad!” Luthian exclaimed.
Wait, is it supposed to move on so fast.
“Luthian Zen who allowed you to call dips on the demon!” one of the people who stood beside him at the front said.
“To be exact I am just a halfie not a real-”
“... I found her, I keep her, why would you argue with me Saya?” Luthian continued.
“...Excuse me, I think we should ta…”
“Give her to me, you already have enough people, she should join me!” one woman said while trying to pull me by the arm.
“... could you please stop that hur-”
“I want the demon, why would you all get to keep her!”
“...Excuse me-”
“No, I will keep her let go!” Luthian said.
These people are acting like hungry beasts fighting for a chunk of flesh! Seriously!
“Oh no! You mortals let go of her already!” Tannie yelled out.
But too late my dark energy spread out like a black fog making it hard for the people to breath.
“I said let go, but no one listened. I said it hurts but no one listened. I said stop but no one listened to me!” I mumbled the black fog surrounding me .
“Great! You all did it, now she is angry!” Tannie hissed at them while they laid on the floor and coughed.
“Calm her down already or do you all want to die, that's poisonous gas!” Tannie screamed out.
These people are wolves, they are monsters, trying to take me and kill me. They want to kill me, did you all kill Raiden?
“Raiden!”
“Meilyn stop already get back to your senses!”
Kill! Kill all of them! They hurt your brother kill them all
The voice inside my head talked to me again. That voice that took control whenever I lost my mind. Kill them all, slaughter them!
A loud crash echoed through the room, leaving a deafening silence behind.
A light flashed through, clearing all the fog and lighting up the room.
Suddenly a weight pulled me down to the ground and a young man was standing in front of me while white chains seemed to bind me to the ground, hindering me from getting up.
He kneeled down and held a knife to my throat.
“Demon, if you don’t get back to your senses now I will kill you!”
