Chapter 8:

Slimes

Conqueror: New Horizon

[ Level Up! ]

[ Spear Mastery : Beginner Level 1 > Beginner Level 2 ]

[ +10 Points on all Basic Stats ]

'Finally, that was a really long battle.' I thought

About 30 minutes elapsed for a single wolf, and I leveled up at that.

I think just like the pc game the experience points needed to level up will scale up fast so I am quite worried since a single wolf took 30 minutes. I hope sooner or later the number of mobs I would take should increase, otherwise this would really be a grind.

But at the same time I thought that I played that way too passively I think, the only moment I went aggressive was probably the stab, I was also surprised that the damage dealt was about 60% of its HP.

"Awooooo!"

A faint howl came from the forests, about a km or more away. Though faint and far I still heard it, I should probably move away from this spot. Is what I thought first.

As I got up I no longer spotted the wolf, nor its body. The location for its remains... Ah there are some things on the floor which resembled different parts of the wolf.

I got up and moved towards the valley where the slimes reside in. Though they are slimes I still put my guard up. Safely away from the phantom forest where those wolves reside I plopped myself down on the ground with a tree behind my back, spear by my side and I began checking the systems left open a while ago.

[ Grey Stray Wolf, Defeated by Xeno ]

[ Experience Gained 108 ]

[ Drops: Wolf Fur (grey) x2, Wolf Meat x4, Wolf Fangs x1, Wolf Claws x1 ]

Based on the drops, and their name colors 2 of them were common, 1 uncommon and 1 rare. Both the fur and meat were common, while the fangs was the blue rare, lastly the claws were a green uncommon. Are the drop rates always this high or am I just lucky today, a blue drop on the first try. Even in the pc version of this game, rare items always had a low chance of dropping.

Now that I've finished checking the drops of the wolf , I stood up from my spot and looked at my surroundings. Behind me was where I came, the small forest clearing where I faced the wolf. In front of me was the valley where various slimes were located. Surrounded by 2 small mountains, and in between was the valley.

I think I might have a little of a hard time, the elevation of this area might be a problem I think, from higher points of the mountain, slimes were resting or preparing an ambush I think, and if they drop down from above it might be troublesome especially if they keep on coming.

From red to blue to brown, various colors of slimes where spotted around this point their color should be correlated to their element, or trait. Since most of the slimes I've seen are brown of color they should be related to the earth trait. I should be expecting high defense and health, and possibly earth magic? Maybe or earth related attacks.

But I still have the advantage against earth related slimes since spears are made to pierce and stab of course.

So began the slime hunt.

[ Earth Slime, Defeated by Xeno ]                                                                                                                [ Earth Slime, Defeated by Xeno ]                                                                                                                [ Earth Slime, … ]

I sat down on top of a rock, I reviewed all the information I received or written down on these slimes. First of all they most of them were very weak, Slimes that are not related to the earth element were quite fragile and weak that a literal poke could kill them, but for these little guys HP and Defensive capabilities were not their forte, it was not their other stats either, It was their numbers. Especially in a valley like this, slimes tend to jump over you and kill you that way.

The problem for them was I was purposely avoiding areas that they could get a jump on me. As for the highly populated earth element slimes, they had the highest HP and defensive capabilities of them all I think, they were still one hit but every now and then I would find something that took 2 hits to kill, which were things on the higher level side. These slimes have very poor base stats though I must say, there was no advantages. As for their elemental affinities, indeed they could use elemental attacks but I think its not a spell, it was just a basic attack. Small pebbles were thrown from the earth elements. While fire elements tend to burn at a higher temperature when I approach them but the pathetic flames, could never kill me in time if the average damage they could do was 4 points of damage every 10 seconds.

The only problem was for these little guys, they only gave very little experience points. I played around with them for about 2 hour and the results were.

[ Level Up! ]

[ Drops: Slime nucleus 5x, Blue Ooze x12, Iron Ore x7, Silver Ore x2, Gold Ore x3, Fire Gel x 4, Mana Shard (F) 7x]

[ New Skill Learned: Spear Strike ]

I killed exactly 72 slimes as of now. Before reaching Level 3 you would need 200 experience points and each slimes had an average of 7 experience points.

As of right now my experience points are at.

[ Experience Bar: 276 / 400 ]

about 50% more to go to reach Level 4. The scaling is a little the same to 'Conqueror Online' the pc game, in which EXP needed per level is twice the previous level but soon it drops to 1.9, 1.8 until 1.5 I think. It should be slightly the same here so hopefully the EXP requirements wouldn't be too high.

Out of the couple of slimes I killed about 40 were earth related, and they dropped ores and the slime nucleus. While Blue Ooze came from ordinary slimes and water related slimes. Ordinary slimes looked like light blue while waters were at a darker color. As for Fire Gel it obviously came from the fire slimes. While mana shards dropped randomly among them. As of now these 4 were the different variations I could find in these valleys.

If I am not wrong, I earned the skill spear strike just from attacking slimes with a stab like attack, the moment I attacked a slime with a stab for the 10th time I earned this skill.

[ Spear Strike

Category: Limitless

Rating: F

Proficiency: 12.8% Beginner Level 1

Strike an Enemy with a spear, Damage dealt is proportional to 150% ATK Power. Spear Strike is imbued with the piercing effect. (10% Armor Penetration)

Costs: 25 Mana

Cooldown: 2 Minutes ]

The difference between a stab that was used with a skill and a stab without would be very obvious though the spear has the natural armor penetration ability, the skill [ Spear Strike ] stacks with the spears effects. While a basic stab would have just dealt your normal damage which is 100% of your ATK power, therefore the 50% increase with the skill is quite a lot.

Mana costs huh, my first skill uses mana, as of right now my mana is at 150 my mana started at 50 and because I leveled up twice I earned 20 points worth of stats in the Intelligence category. For every 1 point in intelligence my mana pool expands by 5. Since I am level 3 right now my intelligence is at 30 which makes 150. As of right now I have 15 Stat points, and each point could increase a basic stat by 10. If I pour in all my stat points into intelligence I would be at 180 which equates to 900 Mana, but I'll decided what to do with my Stat Points later at the end of the day.

Another Interesting thing was Mana Shard which I completely forgot, a while ago I had received some even.

[ Mana Shard (F)

Rating: Common

Category: Consumable

Description: Absorb a certain amount of mana or none at all imbued in this shard and permanently increase your mana pool.

This shard contains: 8 Mana ]

A small crystal looking object that seems to be broken in pieces was at my hand, it was the        [ Mana Shard ] the muddy blue looking crystal emits a faint light, maybe because it was an F class mana shard it was quite bad looking but it still should be worth something since they also rarely drop. Instead of using the shards I put them back into my inventory.

Let's get started again, I got up and began looking at the valley again, after killing exactly 72 slimes the valley started looking empty, but now it was back to normal again as if some naturally respawned again.

[ New Skill Learned: Spear Throw ]

[ Spear Strike Beginner Level 1 > Spear Strike Beginner Level 2 ]

[ Drops: … ]

*Yawn!*

I let out a sleepy yawn as I sat back down on the same rock, a lot of things happened today. I killed a total of 156 slimes today, and managed to reach Level 4, along with 2 new skills learned today with a couple of goodies in my inventory I think I made quite a profit. I don't even remember day or night cycles happening, so I decided to check the time outside.

3:00 PM

!!!

I played for 15 hours, which means 60 hours in this game, so entire nights have passed and its about noon time again here.

As I said that I looked up the sun was exactly at the middle of the sky, the peak of the day, noontime huh.

'growl'

Something was roaring, oh wait that was my stomach. I quickly took a look at something I forgotten.

[ Satiety: 26% ] [ Thirst: 18% ]

Ah.. I completely forgot about them.

I brought out Hard Bread and Stored Water from my inventory.

These items were already here from the beginning, good thing Ciel reminded me about them, these terrible tasting food and water were free for all beginners who started, along with some copper coins, I still don't know a thing about the economy in this game so doesn't matter yet. As I finished eating the hard bread I thought about the food I missed in real life, both breakfast and lunch, so I decided that this would be it for today.

I quickly checked my inventory and my stats window. I carefully distributed my stat points appropriately according to my tastes, leaving only 5 Stat points left for emergencies. As soon as I finished up I had decided to logout

I should apologize to my mother when I get out.
