Chapter 7:

Man vs Wolf

Conqueror: New Horizon

Here I am now.

Man VS Wolf

Myself who has trained in the spear is quite confident in this battle, but that same confidence could lead to my peril in my face off with this wolf, my training in the spear or rather the staff in real life could have different effects here, first of all my opponents in the dojo were humans, and this wolf I'm facing is a non-humanoid creature so to speak, and I am no hunter in real life, I don't have experience fighting wolves in real life.

Honestly, most people would probably cower a bit when facing opponents here, I mean this wolf could literally kill you and I myself haven't experienced death after all, I wonder how does it feel to die here, though I wouldn't want to experience it myself yet. Another thing to take note of was I'm not as afraid as I thought I would be, in fact I think this is one of the effects of capsule device but at the same time the mind also reassures itself that this is just a game, so its going to be fine is what my mind is thinking, I'm even smiling at this moment I'm quite excited facing something new.

Right now, I'm still having a stand off with said wolf, since we are still standing here I decided to use one of the basic skills that everyone has to start with.

[ Appraisal ] I put these words into my head as I faced the wolf.

[ Success! ]

[ Grey Stray Wolf

Species: Wolf (Grey)

Level: 3

Health: 200/200

Description: A wolf abandoned by its pack has wandered in this forest only to take scent of human blood dripping nearby. ]

As I read the information shown about the wolf, the first thing that comes into mind is that the information shown by the appraisal is quite small, then again my appraisal skill is still at level 1. Just now it even increased in proficiency by 0.34%.

Since specialty only allows you to increase proficiency that is part of the chosen group                [ Appraisal ] should be a skill that's part of the adventurer skill kit within the service worker category, though there should be more skills within the adventurer kit all the skills I have now are just basic starter skills, I should think about this later.

Then I also thought about the description of the wolf, Its quite lucky that its a stray wolf abandoned by its pack otherwise I would have been mincemeat trying to face all of them on my own. But as for the blood, it must be about what I was testing how wounds work and obviously while doing that some blood came out.

I also gave my HP a look since I did damage myself earlier, about 12 points of damage I think. Though it did increase my spear proficiency by 0.07%. The numbers are quite small huh.

[ HP: 96 / 100 ]

Haha. Quite foolish of me to damage myself earlier I guess, at least I healed up naturally quite a bit.

Damn this hyper realistic game though, first the wolves can track me down because of my blood and now this wolf is doing a stand off with me, are wolves always this smart!

The only good thing is that the players natural healing is on effect while we are facing off right now, but the situation is quite tense though, but I should never let the tense atmosphere get to me since there's different effects according to your mental status.

[ Mental Status: Concentrated, Adrenaline Rush ]

[ Effects of Mental Status: +5% hit rate and crit rate, +20 Willpower, 5% increase in speed and strength, Satiety decrease rate increased. ]

The buffs are useful I think even though it increases it by a little, there should be some difference, as for willpower I shall ignore it for now, while the satiety decrease rate is quite concerning as of now.

As I was thinking of that the wolf that has been circling around me now, changed its movement pattern. Its now going in for the bite.

Though it should be rushing head on, instead it was weaving left and right to prevent me from stabbing it. As it gradually closed in, it went in for a bite.

Just as it was about to bite, I side stepped to the left and as the wolf body passed through where I once was I let the spear tear through its skin forming a large cut by its body.

If this were some kind of protagonist story instead of doing what I did they would probably spin to the left to dodge while cutting up the wolf with 3 hits making it an insta k.o. Haha sadly this is the reality of the game, performing those movements would just be non realistic.

One thing to note about was I actually could have made the wound inflicted on the wolf bigger but there was some kind of friction so I decided to pull it out earlier than expected. Another thing to note was the wound on the side of the wolf was actually red in color unlike when I harmed myself earlier which was blue, so there are certain differences I guess but it should depend. I'll figure it out later. Last but not the least was the damage I dealt earlier was 26, while the damage I inflicted on my self was just 12 this one was 2 times more, I suppose it depends I guess but this is a good thing.

The wolf that I wounded instead of rushing again began circling me again even more weary of me than before.

'This again?' I thought.

Thus began the long battle of a Man vs Wolf.

----

We've been at this for about 30 minutes now, the number of exchanges with the wolf is now at 5, with me dodging every time while inflicting damage on said wolf, the HP of the wolf was now at 98/200 while I was still at full hp.

Now since the pattern was the same why have I started thinking about these things instead of continuing my match with the wolf.

Well I was getting bored with the repetitive movements, but now after its HP went below the 50% threshold its movements have changed.

'It's pouncing on me again now!'

Instead of dodging to the left, I confronted Mr. Wolf with my spear. Instead of its signature bite attack, It was now making use of its front paws with its silver like claws.

With my spear confronting  its claws, I was knocked back by the impact I took about 12 points of damage even if I had blocked it with my spear, the spear is not a weapon meant to take those attacks head-on obviously.

12 damage was still quite high especially for me who blocked it while only having 100 HP I guess the reason was I also hit myself on the back  by a tree as I was knocked back then that would make sense.

Mr. Wolf who used to do a stand off between me every time it attacks was now rushing to strike. It was going very fast this time and now, it was a bite!

'Fool!' I thought.

As it came rushing head-on I had 2 options I thought, first I would let its momentum continue until I dodge it at the last second for it to collide with the tree behind me, and the second option was for me to go for a stab attack with the risks of being within its reach while it counter-attacks me. Even with just these options I had already decided.

I lowered my stance, fixed my foot work while holding my spear tightly with both hands, I prepared for a stab that contained some of the results of my rigorous spear training.

'It's coming!'

The wolf that was now rushing came at me with all its might seeing that I'm not even attempting to dodge it.

Wooosh!

The spear pushed forward right under the mouth of the wolf, was it a miss!

No! The spear continues to push forward piercing right from its stomach all until the end.

[ Critical Hit - Dmg Dealt!!! 128pts ]

The entire attack that was increased due to the critical damage along with the momentum of the wolf and spear dealt a total damage of 128.

[ Level Up! ]
