Chapter 12:

Ex:02 Lost Arc (iV) Remove My Clothes AGAIN?!

Lost Paradise

“Remove your clothes,” Leona announced as soon as she entered the medical examination room. Her blonde hairs were neatly trimmed into a bun as she touched the frame of her specs pushing it back into place.

Taking a deep breath, she removed her white coat and walked towards the patient in question. It was two in the morning according to Elysian time; when she had received the call bringing an end to her dreams.

Going on a date with a guy she had never met in her life as a magician gifted her a flying sleigh and just when she was about to kiss the guy, the beeping noise from her datapad woke her up abruptly.

“Leona,” Aurora replied weakly. “I don’t wanna say this but do you have fetish for watching people strip?”

“Just do it, Captain,” She replied, sliding the white surgical gloves preparing herself for the medical examination. According to the report, Captain Dastune had suffered a minor heart attack while talking with her Highness.

Due to the circumstances, the Princess had herself performed CPR on her, pushed her chest bringing the girl back to life. She was currently stable but the cause of the attack remains unknown and she was the one who was called to find it out.

Leona glanced at the datapad again, and then using the cubical apparatus, she hooked Aurora’s pinky finger giving her a small jolt of electricity before turning her over.

“You know.” Aurora coughed, “Can you at least be gentle.”

Ignoring the girl, Leona started her examination. There was a patch of reddish-golden miasma that adorned her pale skin, starting from her waist and covering most of her lower back area. On closer look, she could see that the miasma was slowly rising upwards making its way towards her head.

“Corruption” Leona gasped, her emerald eyes widened as she gazed at her back. As she touched the affected region Aurora’s body writhed with pain, there were drips of tears in her eyes as she bit the mattress of the examination bed hard.

“Does it hurt?”

You bet it does! What’s wrong with this girl?!

Absolutely not,” She replied sarcastically, her fists clenched as she glared at the white marble floor below counting the number of dots it had. Forget about the Cardiac arrest, this right here was ten times worse than that.

At least she didn’t feel the pain back then but now it feels like her body’s pain sensitivity has increased by a hundredfold. Clenching her fist Aurora grabbed the tubes attached to her and detached them roughly.

I am done with this.

“Wait! Captain, what are you doing?!” Leona protested her hands holding the test tube as she ran the test on it.

Ignoring Leona’s protest Aurora grabbed the white lab coat on the surgical table and left the room dressed in nothing but a white lab coat-that was not even hers.

The coat smelled of lemons.

So that is what she likes. Cute.

“Bastet I need to get to her,” Aurora murmured, her eyes were in a daze as she limped through the hallway dragging her body towards the hangar.

She didn’t know why? But she had to get inside Bastet now, it was as if she was being pulled in by some unknown force. Maybe the voices?-yes the voices it has to be them-ever since she had touched that black cube the voices in her head were going wild.

In the past, she could control their intensity but right now all she could hear were screams of anguish, insults hurled towards her, and worst of all her own voice but at the same time, it was not hers.

Shut up!

“Captain!” Leona called out as she grabbed her hands in an attempt to stop her.

“Leave Me Alone!” Aurora snapped. Her blue eyes staring daggers at the blonde girl. Pushing herself free from Leona’s clutches. “I need to go! I need to get inside Bastet now.”

I need to leave! These voices

She stopped her blue eyes gazing at Leona’s emerald, there was a pain and fear that her eyes conveyed paralyzing the girl right at the spot.

“I don’t need your help,” said Aurora slowly. “All I need is to get inside Bastet”

On the fifth floor of the Ark, a long passage led to the backside of Hangar 4, overlooking the Bastet. It was a passage furnished in a more old Elysian style compared to the rest of the ship. The walls had wires veining them and the pungent smell of Nexus fuel and ship’s waste was intoxicating as Aurora dragged her body through it.

Her left hand was pressed against the wall using it as a support, while the right massaged her temples trying to soothe the skull-splitting headache she was going through.

At the end of the passage stood Vulcan, his long claw-like hands rested on his arms as he glared at Aurora.

“Aurora, why are you here?” He asked, controlling his urge to slap the girl for doing something so reckless.

“Vul-'' Aurora coughed, as she slowly brought her fingers to her lips. “Vulcan, thank the universe I met you. I need to get inside Bastet it’s really importan-”

Aurora’s hand slipped over as her body fell down, using her free arm she quickly tried to catch the suspended wire beside her and cushion her fall on the greasy metallic floor.

Damn you gravity! Just leave me alone Ahhhhh.

“Are you even listening to yourself Aurora!” Vulcan who had been silently watching until now roared. His eyes twitched with anger as he walked towards her crouched down and raised her body upwards. “You are in no condition to walk let alone pilot Bastet!”

Vulcan, who had been only informed a few minutes ago about the entire fiasco, was still unaware of Aurora’s condition, according to the message he had received from Leona, she was extremely unwell and had forced her way towards the hangar all of it just for getting inside Bastet.

“You don’t understand Vulcan. I need to get inside now!” Aurora stomped, detaching herself from Vulcan as she clenched her jaws. “All of you just leave me alone already! And let me do what I want!”

“Aurora, listen to me you are in no condition to pilot Bastet,” Vulcan tried to reason but that only escalated her rage.

Aurora’s vision narrowed as the voice once again began to screech inside her head, clenching her fist she punched the ground and screamed in anguish:

“STOP IT!”

“Aurora?” Vulcan tried to hold her but she thwarted him away.

“Don’t touch me.” She hissed. Her fingers were bleeding now and yet the pain from the voices was far more painful than the physical pain.

Unable to bear the pain any longer Aurora screamed:

“BASTET!”

Her eyes were bloodshot as she cried, her body was shaking and her head felt like it was being pulled from two sides, her lower back was burning as the temperature of her body kept on rising.

Taking deep breaths she tried to stand up and that is when it happened, there was the sound of an explosion and people screaming as the entire hallway shook, the wires on the walls started to spark as Vulcan fell down hitting his head hard.

Aurora, on the other hand, crawled through the ground trying to reach the hangar, and that is when she felt all mass in her body leave her as her body lifted up the ground, something had occurred in the hangar and that is what had led to the Gravitic failure here.

But before she could have pondered upon what could have possibly done that, the passage shook once again more violently than last time, rattling her ribs and throwing her body towards the ceiling as a huge white metallic hand entered the passage.

Aurora’s eyes widened as she saw it, the white texture, the golden colored pad in the palms.

“Bastet?” She asked weakly. “But how?”

Unknown to her, Bastet had yet again moved on its own detaching herself from the safety of the launching station, and had walked halfway across the room towards the small passageway to find Aurora.

With the voices amplifying with each passing second Aurora quickly clasped the fingers of Bastet as she pulled her outside bringing her towards the abdomen, as the safety lock dislodged itself opening the hatch of the cockpit.

Aurora, using the last of her energy pushed onto Bastet’s finger propelling herself through the zero-G before floating into the cockpit back to her zone away from all the pain and into the darkness that would lead her to the unknown.

“As you sink deeper into the unending darkness of her hollow eyes, every sense of understanding leaves your body, until there's nothing but love for her left in you.”
