Chapter 1:

A New Way of Life

The Small World of Hikari

Sukya Himura... the girl who showed up in my room at 5:20 in the morning and said I was in her room.

"You know that article 150, says that it is a crime the action of "entering or remaining, clandestinely or cunningly, or against the express or implied will of the rightful owner, in another's house or on its premises" she said in a sarcastic tone with a look of disgust.

For the first time in my life I didn't have a protocol of nice phrases telling lies for that situation so I thought of a more evasive tactic for this situation:

Improvised Evasion Tactic: "Smile and Wave"

I just go to the table and get my cup that I got from college and put it in the coffee pot and put my toast on it to prepare my coffee, so I go to my room and get some clothes that I left separated and go to my shower.I clearly will not lie that I almost went crazy in the shower because I have no idea why that girl is in my room that was practically given to me by the college and say that it is hers.

I get dressed and get out of the shower while putting on my deodorant and waiting in the room looking directly at me, holding a handcuff and with a gold polished badge on his chest he says to me:

"Article 150 - Entering or remaining clandestinely or cunningly, or against the express or implied will of the rightful owner, in another's house or its premises: Penalty - detention, from one to three months, or a fine..." speaks Mr.policeman while the slender girl named Sukya Himura, was drinking from my cup and eating my toast

And by a twist of fate at 5:40 in the morning I was at the police station, getting my own ticket.

05:50 in the morning I went straight back to the house:

"BY ANY CASE DO YOU HAVE ANY NOTICE THAT THIS IS MY ROOM?" I speak pointing directly at Sukya Himura who was on my couch and holding an Albert Camus book.

"Of course I do, you broke into my dwelling and I called the police to defend me and do their job, it's not such a hard thing to do..." she speaks in the same sarcastic tone as before

"This is not the point, this is MY room, I have the key to it, I have pictures of my family, I have a picture of my grandmother, I have a picture of my dog that I could not bring here and I also have a document that says "TSUKI HIKARI'S HOUSE", if you understand, please leave my room" in a cordial way I speak directly to Sukya Himura so that she understands something simple.

"But I have the same document saying "THIS ROOM IS SUKYA HIMURA'S" it's on a document signed by the college so I don't care" in a more irritated tone Sukya speaks looking into my eyes which was a bit louder than her.

"Okay then...I know how we can work this out..." I speak back at her and with a bit more sarcasm.

                                                                              ***

"I can't let you" says the college director who had a jovial appearance sitting on a presidential leather chair in a room that was planned by a very minimalist interior designer and contained only two black bookshelves, a painting of a Chinese dragon on its back and a desk in the same color as the bookshelves.

"BUT HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!" I say immediately

"Look Hikari you know I like you a lot and it's between you and me that you are one of my favorite students, but it's college season and practically a lot of students have entered college with great grades, students from all over and we don't end up doing this system where we randomly put students together" says the professor while combing his blond hair and straightening his orange tie on his gray granite suit.

"But she practically called the police on me, Warden, she's crazy, please let me stay alone in the villa, I'll help the aunts in the cafeteria.... I swear" I was kneeling on that snow-white carpet.

"A thousand pardons Hikari, but it has to be this way and besides the school has nothing to do with you spending money on the police station" he speaks as he stands up and looks directly into the large glass window that faces the campus

"Shit... what the hell" I speak as I stand up and at the same time Sukya Himura stood up as well without a peep at any point in that little meeting.

"I've wasted my time..." Sukya Himura speaks with a sarcastic tone

"HAHA... you talk about time but... wait... what time is it?" I look in all directions looking for a clock.

"It's 07:10" Sukya Himura speaks

"I'M LATE FOR WORK!" I start running desperately to work and getting there listening to a good, emotional:

"Late as usual... HIKARI"

Even though I have never been late for my work I give just a good, emotional one:

"A thousand apologies boss...I'll try harder"

And back to that same repetitive cycle, client arrived, greeting and my little protocol:

"Welcome to Han zuki Furniture Store, we have worked in the area for over 3 years and sell new, semi-new and used furniture, here we sell quality furniture for the joy and comfort of our customer, how can I help you today?"

Then, at 11:50, I punch in and go directly to the house where I prepare my chicken, my rice and some salads to go with it.

"I bought us two hamburgers, now you don't have to cry because of 100 yen spent at a police station," said Sukya while eating a double cheese and cheddar burger from a very famous restaurant.

"First of all it was 4500... and second I will not eat this, besides being expensive it has a high level of cholesterol and a lot of sodium, one of these is worth 4 meals, you should eat a normal lunch" I speak while I get the chicken and the rice

"Idai? I can't cook and until a month ago no restaurant made good food for me, and since I can't put on weight when I eat I'll just eat what I want and like" she said while holding a can of the very famous red and white soda, and looking a little bored.

"Uh huh..."

After a while, I finish preparing my food and serve her a plate as well

"Good thing I have 1 more plate, otherwise I wouldn't have made it" a little embarrassed I offer the plate to her, a little surprised and with a certain doubt she looks directly at the plate.

"Dude... this is just rice, grilled chicken and salad... how is this going to be good?" she says in a tone of debauchery

"it's just a tip from me, do whatever you want, but you can shred the piece of chicken and add it to the rice, thus making a rice with chicken, sometimes it's the simplest things that make our day better" I speak while eating my share of the food

"Um... okay, you've convinced me" After speaking, Sukya takes the piece of chicken and shreds it by adding it to the rice, so she takes some and eats it...

"For your exotic palate it might be a little bad or tasteless but..." I speak directly to her expecting some deconstructive criticism, but I am interrupted by her.

"It's good... It's very good" Sukya marvels at how simple and tasty that food was.

"What's your secret?" Sukya asks as she eats the rest of her food

"It's very simple...I just put love into what I do, and a little rosemary, garlic and olive oil...hehe" I speak in a more friendly, friendly tone

"Me... sorry for calling the police earlier today, it's just that I kind of got a little nervous.... Hahaha" Sukya laughs and speaks naturally and without any debauchery or Sarcasm.

"Hahaha it was nothing" I speak in a more cheerful and friendly tone

At that moment the friendly atmosphere that was in the air made me happy, and from the looks of it it won't be so bad to share a room with her, after all we are simple people.

                                                                                ***

At 6:10 pm after work I clock out and go straight back to the house to get ready for my class.

"I'm home" I say in a loud tone but realize that no one is home and the dishes are dirty, so I wash them and go directly to my room to tidy up and see that there are clothes scattered around the room... and detail, they are not mine, with my understanding of the world that I have, even if it is limited, I have to know for sure that those clothes are my roommate's.

"Right then..." I decide to clean up the mess, after I'm done I get my things, take a shower and go directly to class, where again I get there at the desk, and tell her which room I'm going to, so I go directly to the classroom where I hear the same thing as always.

"Congratulations Hikari...once again late, but I'll take it easy this time, sit down as I have 2 announcements to make"

When I sit down, instead of listening to debaucheries and jokes insulting my person, I listen to gossip, some sighs and whispers about something on campus.

"Students of the college, you may have seen some police officers and some investigators, they covered the scene but the Principal thought you would know about it sooner or later so...I will tell you now...around 4:20 am today Mirai Saiaku was murdered on campus, she was brutally butchered, that's the bad news...the good news is we now have a new student in our class today..."

I really thought about how innocence makes people so cloaked, as if they are being hidden by some sort of cloak of compassion and hope

"She is a student who just like Tsuki Hikari got an A on her test and won a scholarship to our college..."

People like that always try to hide the things they put under the rug.

"That student's name is..."

and like it or not this only makes that person...

"Sukya Himura"

An impostor.
