Chapter 9:

Something Crazy

Dance of Thorns

Elena tumbled through the air as she soared upwards above the tallest buildings. She let her body freely twist, letting the chill of the rushing air wash over her, calming her as she shifted her gaze to the shark down below. She readied her blade as her rise came to a stop, prepping herself as gravity suddenly took over. She fell rapidly, accelerating towards the shark. At the last second she used Wind Nin just enough to keep her legs from breaking, but still with enough force to slam down on top of the shark, her blade clattering against its reinforced barrier.

"So you have it up?" She commented. "Too bad you can't move that much when your on guard like this. Let's see how stupid you can be." Elena rushed down the length of its body, dodging spikes as they emerged along its body before jumping off.

She let herself bounced off a nearby wall, using Wind Nin to redirect herself towards the jaws of the shark, swinging at its eye.

"Okay, annoying." She bursted air Nin, blasting off the shark with enough force to drive it back.

The Leviathan howled in anger, firing a barrage of spikes at her. She expertly wove around them, bolting off into a different direction. The shark howled, before turning to follow her.

"Very stupid confirmed." Elena grinned, watching as the shark chased her down.

She increased her speed, weaving in-between highway signs and dancing through low hanging vines from the surrounding buildings. The shark followed her, smashing into everything along the way, oblivious to any obstruction.

Elena sped towards a building, soaring through a broken window and inside it. She rushed forward, rolling and flipping over old desks and cubicles as the shark barreled through the building behind her, destroying everything as it went along. Elena reached the other side, pushing her way through a curtain of vines and cables, before launching herself away from the collapsing structure.

The shark burst out the other side a moment later, shooting out at full speed towards Elena as she fled. The Sister hit another building, before summoning a powerful burst of Wind, before launching herself back towards the shark, driving her blade deep into its eye.

"You can't have such a strong barrier up when you're moving around, right?" She teased, right before the shark threw her off.

She hit a rooftop with a yelp tumbling sideways, her side injury suddenly reopening, staining her bandage red.

"Ow." she hissed, getting to her feet.

The shark turned to look at her with its good eye.

"That's right. Come and kill me." Elena taunted.

The shark roared, letting out an enormous volley of spikes. Elena responded, using a burst of Wind to launch herself backwards, sliding along the roof before suddenly going upwards. The shark gave chase, firing spikes as it followed her into the sky.

Elena looked down at the beast, and winked.

"I can't believe that worked..." Rin sighed, charging a massive amount of fire Nin into her weapon.

Rell watched as the sky lit on fire. The massive shot blinded him and the other two he had joined in fighting off Shadows.

The round pierced through the beast, blowing a massive hole in its body. Elena slowly drifted down on top of it like a leaf, letting the tips of her boots tap against the shark's snout. The creature lurched slightly, before it started to crumble apart. Elena gently pushed off it, letting the creature crumble into ash below her.
