Chapter 9:
Toward Eden
Glynn and Musashi greeted Ginrei as she boarded the spaceship. Ginrei held Musashi as he jumped into her arms.
"Hey, are you ready?"
Glynn tapped her on the shoulder.
"Yes. I'm fine. I didn't mean to keep you waiting."
"Well, that can't be helped."
The spaceship took off as soon as it had accommodated Ginrei.
"What kind of planet is Hazar?"
"They say that the entire planet is a desert, and the inhabitants live in small villages on the shores of scattered oases."
"Desert ......"
"Well, I'm from the desert, so I'm not surprised. But the high vibrational energy field is proportional to the astral energy emitted by the inhabitants, so planets with few inhabitants are easy prey for the demon world."
"So the barriers are thin."
"That's right. Of course, there are high-level forces reinforcing the energy, and Hazar has a choir working to strengthen the field."
"A choir?"
"You don't know?"
"Yes, there was a choir on ...... Earth, too. But I didn't know they were supposed to enhance the field."
"The sound of holy prayer also raises astral energy."
"So it's not meaningless that the children sang chants in church?"
"That's what I thought. Okay, it will take five full days to get to Hazar. There's no point in rushing. Let's take a nap."
Glynn said, and went back to his private room.
Five days later, the spaceship was in the sky over Hazar. The entire planet was glowing orange. It was truly a planet of sand. They could see a large hole in the high wave energy field.
"It's a beautiful hole,"
he said.
"I guess they didn't repair it in time."
"What are you going to do?"
Ginrei asked.
"Well, it's not our job to repair the field. We'll drop down and set up camp near the nest where the demon platoon is sitting, and we'll destroy the platoon from there."
While Glynn was explaining, the spaceship was descending at a fast pace.
"This spaceship is also protected by an energy field, so it is safe for now, but if you go outside, you will be exposed to the evil thoughts of the demon world. This time, there will be more opponents than with the octopus. Be prepared for that."
"Evil thoughts ......"
"I'm not sure what to do. It's a good thing that you're not the only one who has a problem with this."
"Would this time be worse than that? ......"
They could see the yellowish-brown rocky land below them. Huge rocky mountains lined up in an arc.
Glynn reminded the pilot,
"Okay, land behind those rocks over there."
All three ships landed inside the rocky arc.
"Okay, we're here. Pilot, do you have any information?"
"I've just received word from the central command center in Hazar. It seems that the demonic forces are camped on a rocky terrain a few kilometers ahead of us. They want us to destroy them."
"Understood. Okay, let's go outside for now. Just take your weapons with you."
The four of them went outside the ship. The yellowish-brown earth stretched on forever, dotted with rocky mountains. ...... It was truly a barren land. When she looked up, the sky was bluer than any she had ever seen. There were streaks of clouds trailing in the air. The intrusion of the demon world made the four of them feel a little lightheaded, but if they kept ther heads strong, they would be fine. Despite the fact that they were on a battlefield, the scenery was beautiful as far as the eye could see.
"Hey, Grynn. It's time."
A man from the next ship called out to him. He was a man with brown skin, long black hair braided back, and light brown eyes.
"Balta. You look as good as ever."
"Oh. Is that the girl? Who's the new girl?"
"Ginrei. She's a fencer."
"Hmm."
Balta gazed at Ginrei from head to toe. Ginrei felt uncomfortable and writhed in agony.
"What's the use? I'm sure you'll agree."
...... I knew it. I knew you would say that. When Ginrei looked down.
"I'm sure she will be fit for its purpose. I'm sure you're not the only one who can't do much when you're new."
Glynn helped her up.
"Well, that's all right, let's see what you can do."
Balta gave her a sarcastic smile.
"What's the plan, then?"
Glynn ask him.
"I'm going to have a strategy meeting with you and me and the captain of the other ship. I want you to come to my ship."
"Okay."
With that, Glynn climbed the ramp to Balta's ship.
The three who were left behind looked at each other.
"Don't worry about it, Ginrei. That Balta guy has always been like that. He's just too strong for anyone to complain.
Toni patted Ginrei on the back.
"Yeah. It's okay. And I think he's right about half of what he says."
"Really?"
"I don't have much of a track record yet. I can't blame him for saying that."
"You've got a lot of experience here."
Tara swings the axe.
"By the way, can't you do something about that nasty feeling in my head?"
Ginrei shook her head.
"It's the psychic waves of the demon world. There's nothing we can do about it. Be strong and bathe in fire at night."
"Grynn's flamethrower?"
"Yes. Yes, he can gather fire from space. He's a first-class walker."
"Oh, yeah."
"It's too hot to stay here. Let's go inside and wait."
The three of them went up to the spaceship.
