Chapter 10:

Planet Hazar Episode 10. Giant snake"

Toward Eden

Glynn came back to the spaceship, and he explained.

"Everyone, listen up. The first thing we need to do is to send out a scouting party to determine the exact location of the Demon Platoon's nest. The members of the third platoon will do the job. Once the reconnaissance is done, we'll take a look at the number of opponents and decide whether to lure them in and destroy them individually or get into the nest at once. Well, maybe we'll destroy them individually to reduce their numbers, and then attack the nest. Any questions?"

"We don't know what kind of opponent we're up against, will the weapons we've got be enough?"

Tara asked.

"That doesn't seem to be a problem. According to the information we received from the Central Command, there is not much difference between them and the demonic forces we have been dealing with. It's going to be a while before the scouts return, so we'll be on standby."

"In the meantime, I'll set up a lookout point on the rocky hill."

Toni stood up.

Toni picked up a large pair of binoculars and walked out with a folding chair and a parasol on his back. When he reached the rocky hill, he jumped. This is the astral realm, so it is possible to move as lightly as this. He placed his feet on the rocky outcropping and jumped again, reaching the top. He set up a chair and parasol, sat down, and looked through binoculars in the direction of the nest. He could see a scouting party riding a space kite towards the nest. Toni sent telepathy to everyone.

"This is Toni. Installation complete. I see the scouts going."

Glynn replied.

"Copy that. Any sign of the demon world?"

"Nothing so far. No scent."

"All right. Keep searching."

"Yes, sir."

For the rest of the day, they had nothing to do. They spent the rest of the day playing cards and cleaning their weapons.

The next morning, Toni sent a reminder.

"The reconnaissance team is coming back! Oh, wait a minute. ...... From behind them... the demon world is attacking! I see a black group!"

"All right. Okay, let's go!"

Tara and Ginrei followed suit. This time, Musashi also went out. As they went outside, they could see a black group of people coming towards them with a cloud of dust in the air. Ginrei felt a headache coming on and held her head.

"Toni, do you know what type they are?"

Glynn Sent telepathy to him.

"I see them. It appears to be a group of giant snakes."

"Yes! Glynn, I'll kill them first."

Tara said and raised his greataxe. The sun's rays reflected off the axe's teeth, making it glisten. The next moment, the sky, which had been clear and cloudless until then, suddenly became dark.

"Hmph!"

As Tara swung his axe down, several thunderbolts fell from the clouds over the serpent army with a violent roar. As a result of the direct hit of the lightning, quite a few of the serpents turned into black smoke and disappeared.

''...... is amazing.''

Ginrei's mouth literally gaped open.

"This is my speciality. It's a thunder hammer."

"Okay, I'll go next. Ginrei, I'll burn the serpent with fire, and you kill the leaker with your sword."

"Got it!"

When Ginrei shouted this, Musashi howled. The snakes stopped moving for a moment as if they were frightened. The two of them used their kites to ram into the herd. Ginrei glanced to the side. The other troops were also fighting with their own weapons. When Glynn showered the serpent with flames from above, it spun around and shrunk into smoke. At his side, Ginrei sliced through the remaining serpent with her sword.

"That's good, Ginrei!"

Just as Glynn praised her, the serpent behind her jumped and hit Ginrei. She lost his balance and fell to the ground.

"Ginrei!"

Glynn circled around Ginrei, spewing flames to protect her. Musashi swooped in like a rabbit and checked the serpent that was about to attack Ginrei. When the serpent saw Musashi, it immediately jumped back.

"Tsk, that hurt ......."

Ginrei stood up, holding her bruised hip.

"Don't be absent-minded!"

Glynn shouted. Ginrei readied her sword and cut off the head of the nearest giant snake.

"Whoo! Well done! But don't let your guard down!"

Glynn whistled. One of the serpents took advantage of the flames and jumped at Ginrei. Ginrei reflexively jumps backwards. That's when--

"Whoosh!"

Ginrei's body floated in the air and slid backwards.

"What's going on?"

Ginrei exclaimed in surprise.

Glynn replies to the upset Ginrei.

"It's a slide. It's a basic walker move."

"But why ......"

"We are astral bodies, not physical bodies. If we control our bodies with our thoughts, we can move while floating in the air."

"So we don't need the kites?"

"It's too tiring for the mind to fight while floating for long periods of time."

While conversing, the two of them and one of the snakes killed one after another, and by the time the sun had risen to the zenith, the entire herd had been wiped out.

"You did it! Ginrei, how about the spot where the serpent hit you earlier?"

"It's tingling."

"Okay, just in case, let's burn it with fire."

Gurin used the flamethrower to scorch Ginrei's body.

"How is that?"

"Yeah. It's healed. ...... But Glynn. You said that we are astral bodies, right? How can we feel pain if we're not in a physical body?"

"Pain and sensations exist in the astral realm, too. When you had a physical body, you felt pain in your heart even though you didn't hit anything. It's the same thing."

"I see. ...... So that's it."

"Yeah. All right, let's get back to the ship."

All the walkers went back to their spaceships.
