Chapter 2:

What a Man Must Do

Can't Find The Perfect Waifu? Let's Make One!!

The reality kicked him again once more in the face when he got home. Greeted only by bills stuck in his mailbox, a dark hallway, and the neighbors next door moaning without a care in the world. Another reminder is what he thought, thinking if he should punch the wall but decides not to in the end.

In the corner of his eyes, he sees his beloved figurines. Beautiful and perfect in every single way. Each with their own charm. To break free from his sadness, he took out some papers and colored pens. Why does he have some colored pens? No one knows even himself. It was not a revolutionary idea to draw an ideal partner but a man must do what he has to do……or so he thought.

He began to draw the waifu of his dreams with a big grin on his face. Pastel pink hair with a touch of soft-looking curls and short fringe. A gentle smile with her lips tinted with a rosy red. Light blue eyes that sparkles and gives hope when one glances at it. He made an angel that soothes his aching heart beyond the paper.

It wasn’t long till he got lost in his drawing until his pen ran out of ink, leaving the art one short of a pinky. It was too late to buy one so he went to bed thinking that she’s still the most beautiful girl he’s ever laid his eyes upon. While on his way however, he tripped on the other pens and fell flat on his face. He finally got to his bed, drifting to sleep while wishing for someone to kiss his aching nose

The scent of eggs and bacons woke him up the next morning which he finds weird since usually it’s the neighbor’s cigarettes that does. Is it possible that due to having a lover he changed for the better? He immediately laughed at the idea that love can change a man. He sat up on his bed but was shocked to see his apartment clean.

It was the first time that month that he saw his own floor. His clothes that was seen before everywhere are now folded neatly. Even the sink that was full of dirty dishes are now sparkly clean but it’s weird that the drawing he did last night was gone. In the midst of confusion, he was able to hear his last common sense shout at him: CHECK YOUR PRECIOUS BELONGINGS.

Faster than the speed of light, he checked his phone. He gave a sigh of relief upon seeing his phone still charging. Next he checked his wallet which was inside his pants that he hung. He looked inside the pocket and his face went pale. He convinced himself that he just misplaced it and checked his other pants, still nothing.

Back into the corner, he began to talk to himself “Did the burglar somehow think that he’ll do a non-consent cleaning and pay himself? Why would he even go out of himself to clean though? M-maybe I didn’t just get enough sleep! Or maybe I’m still dreaming!! Yeah yeah that’s right. That’s right that must be it” and due to him spiraling down into confusion and delusion, he decided to……pinch himself, like a man of course.

It hurt him and made him winced in pain which proves he is awake after all and what’s worse, he heard someone trying to get with the sound of the doorknob. His whole body tense, he thought it’s the robber ‘They always go back to the crime scene’. His legs are still weak that of a jello, he grabbed a frying pan and worked his courage to go to the door.

Ding Dong Ding Dong Ding Dong!!

There it was. The multiple doorbells. If he doesn’t open it quickly, his landlord will come running to him and smack him with his slippers while yelling “Shut it down!! Ay jusko po!!”. What does the burglar maid even want? He thought and it snapped back into him. He looked at his phone and gets the burst of bravery. No one can take his phone away and break his daily log ins for the game.

With a swift move, he opened the door quickly with his eyes closed and banged the intruder’s face with a frying pan.

Bang!!

Thud!

The victory is on his side and he successfully took the intruder down. He finally opened his eyes but turned into a stone immediately when he saw who he hit. He just whacked a lady, no wait, an angel that looks exactly like his creation. What a start of a day indeed.
