Chapter 27:

Here for You (1)

Don't Die, Will

"Nothing is going to happen to you." Will was out of breath, "Hang in there, Julia."

He and Emma were caring Julia to the doctor. Olivia went to find the doctor beforehand to save some time. Julia was already starting to get pale. Her body was getting cold slowly.

How did it turn out like this? Why, God? Will thought. What went wrong? Everything was going according to the plan. Then why??

They got into the medical section house and went upstairs. Olivia and Juan were also seen there.

"Oh Dios." Said Juan, "Get her on the bed."

"She has lost a lot of blood." Said Olivia.

"Yes, we would need blood for her." Said the doctor, "Will, do you siblings have the same blood group?"

"Y-yes."

"Good. We need to clean the wounds first, gotta remove the bullet. But first, I need you all to wait outside except Will."

Olivia and Emma nodded. They went outside and closed the door.

"W-will she be okay?" Will asked hesitantly.

"I can't tell for sure right now."

"Please doctor, save her."

"I'll try my best, Will." He said, "But what the hell happened?"

...

Emma and Olivia were standing outside the closed door. Olivia was standing leaning against the wall with her arm crossed. And Emma, she was seated on the floor. It was the first time they were alone together after what happened earlier. So, things were a bit awkward between them. When she was accused of being the culprit, Olivia didn't actually stand against it, she knew it herself better than anyone. As it was proven that, Emma was innocent. Olivia felt guilty of what she had done. And it was embarrassing for her to face Emma after what had happened.

To break the awkwardness, Olivia tried to start a conversation.

"A-ah...hey..." She scratched her cheek with her index finger, "About what happened earlier..."

Emma looked at her slowly with no emotions on her face.

"Y-you know, about you being accused of being the traitor and stuff..." She added, "Sorry for not standing by your side. I feel really ashamed of what I've done."

"..."

"It was really confusing, you know. I mean, one of us was an outsider. It was really hard to choose sides."

"..."

"I know, I am not in the right place to say all this bu-"

"You're right."

"Huh?"

"You don't have the rights to say anything." Emma said while looking at the ground, "You wouldn't know how hard it was for me to stand their with all of your disbelieves. As if like, I was all alone on my own. And for what? For doing absolutely nothing."

"..."

"I don't blame Nolan for doing what he has done. In fact, he did me a favor doing all those."

"..."

"Now I know one thing..." She said after a pause, "Is that we are alone. We always were. And we always will be."

"I am...sorry."

"Don't be." Emma stood up, "I don't blame you for what you've done. I mean, I would've done the same if I were in your place."

"..."

"But let's not talk about it anymore. It's in the past now."

"Yeah, you're right."

After a while, Will came out of the room.

"How is Julia? Is she okay?" Emma asked.

"She...I don't know yet." Will said with a sad look on his face, "Doctor said the wound was deep. It would be hard to remove the bullet."

"Huh, fuck." Olivia covered her face with her hand.

"don't worry, Will. Everything will be fine." Emma said.

"I hope so."

"You guys are here." A voice came from the stairs.

"Marco? W-what are you doing here?" Olivia asked, "Weren't you supposed to go after Ethan?"

"He escaped." Marco said, "But we've got a bigger issue."

"Bigger issue? What is it?"

"Come with me. Nolan is calling you all. It should be better if you hear it from him."

...

"Wh-what are you talking about, Nolan?" Grace's face was full of surprises, "I-is that true?"

Nolan looked outside through the window. Currently, the were in the discussion room. People started to gather outside hearing the gunshot from earlier. They didn't have any idea what was happening. People were gossiping among themselves.

"Yes, it's true."

"So...your saying that Ethan was an outsider. And...and...Jack is in danger." Grace covered her mouth.

"Not to mention a herd is coming this way." Nolan looked at Katie and Synthia.

"It's a lot to take in, oh my God." She sat down on a chair and mumbled, "J-Jack...where are you?"

"We don't have the time to sit back. If the herd reaches us, we are done for." Said Nolan.

"They are a lot in number. And as we informed, they are not very far away. The gunshot from earlier...it would be leading them directly here." Katie said.

"Grace." Nolan tried to attract her attention, "You're the leader here now. Is there anything you want us to do?"

"S-shit, Jack. I am not cut out for this. Where the hell are you?" She mumbled.

"Grace, do you hear me?"

"J-Jack, save me from this hell. What am I supposed to do?"

"Grace?"

"Oh, God. Oh, God."

"Hey, Hey." Nolan put his hands on her shoulders, "Look at me, look at me."

Her teary eyes contacted with him.

"It's going to be alright. Jack is fine. Do you hear me? He'll be fine."

She sniffed.

"But first, we gotta think about ourselves." He said, "A herd will be here soon. We gotta prevent it from happening."

"Y-yeah, you're right."

"Now, what are your orders?"

"M-my orders??"

"Yes."

"I-I...I don't know. I can't think of anything. My head is not working." She said, "Do you have something?"

"Me?"

"Yeah."

"Nolan, I brought them." The door got opened.

"What's going on?" Olivia asked, "Katie?? Synthia?? You're back?!"

"How is Julia?" Nolan asked.

"She is under surgery." Will answered, "But what's going on here?"

"Nolan." Said Grace, "Do you have something in your mind?"

I don't know.

...

"Here it comes!" Jack threw the ball as hard as he could.

Arthur swung his bat but it didn't hit the ball.

"What are you doing? How many times do I have to tell you that look before you hit?" Jack said.

"Yeah, I know I know. Jeez."

"You're not going anywhere with that attitude, kid." Jack took the second ball in hand, "You should work on that before it's too late."

"Tch, just shut up and throw the ball already." Arthur took position with his bat.

"Alright." Jack threw the ball, "Here comes the second one!"

Arthur swung his bat with all his strength but failed to hit the ball again.

"Fuck!"

"Hey, watch your language."

"Yeah, sorry."

"Huh, it's not only about strength." Jack added, "First, look at the thrower. Try to observe where he is trying to land the ball. Decide where you'll shoot, then hit...stay focused."

"Yeah, all right."

He raised his bat. Closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Tried to calm down his mind.

"Hey! Watch out!"

What?

He opened his eyes and saw the ball coming towards his face.

"Fuc-"

It hit his face so hard that he got knocked down on the ground.

"HUH HUH HUH." Arthur looked around, "Where am I?"

"Oh, you're finally awake." Manny said.

"Are you okay?" Asked Ruby.

"Where am I? What am I doing on the floor?"

"Marco knocked you down." Manny said.

"Marco knocked me down? Why?"

"Because you were nearly killing Ethan."

"E-Ethan? Where is that fucker?!" Arthur got up.

"Calm down. He is not here."

"Where the fuck is he?!"

"He...got away."

"Got away?! What the fuck you mean got away?!"

"Don't worry, Nolan and Marco are on to him."

"Fuck, I am going too." Arthur headed for the door.

"Arthur, you should wait."

Just when he was about to open the door, the door got opened itself from the outside. It hit him on the face which made him lose his balance and he fell down on the ground.

"What the fuck!"

"Good, you're awake." Said Nolan, "Come with me. We have some work to do."
