Chapter 2:

One and only aspiration

I Can't Die- Without Saving A Heroine

He had been looking for hours, trying to find the green haired girl, but with no luck he decided to rest for a bit. He noticed that he was extremely hungry when his stomach started to growl, reminding him that although he was in a new world he still had normal human needs.

Hideki caught the smell of food nearby and walked towards the source. A food stand with fruits and meat, plenty to eat. He wanted something so badly but he didn't have any money, even if he did it wouldn't be the right kind.

"Whatever. I can find food somewhere else." He sighed, realizing he might have to salvage food off the streets. Then he felt a light tap on his back and a small mumble.

"Um, I can buy you something to eat...I don't mind." He looked to his left and saw the green haired girl in all of her glory looking up at him. "Oh, It's you." She smiled awkwardly. He tried to repress the happiness he had in the moment but he couldn't stop a cheesy smile from taking over.

"No,No, You don't have to buy me anything. That would be bad of me to do- taking a girl's money like that." He said

"I insist, Please let me treat you." She said. She grabbed a small bag of strawberries and paid for it. Then she handed them to him. "Do you want to eat together?" She asked shyly.

Seriously?! Is this a dream come true or what?

"Sure. You lead the way." He said calmly. They left the busy shopping center and she led him across another bridge. She took him to a grassy spot under a bunch of trees. They sat down and he immediately bit into the sweet fruit.

She giggled watching him eat them so happily. "Sorry for bumping into you earlier. I should have been watching where I was going." She said.

"Don't worry about that, I wasn't hurt after all." She nodded. "What's your name?" He asked.

"Fuka...What's yours?" She asked. She wasn't looking at him and he realized that she might feel uncomfortable or shy.

This is the perfect time to use the skills I've been working on all of these years! After all, I'm Hideki the master of seduction!

"Your name is so beautiful, it matches you perfectly. My name is Hideki." He said with a wink. She looked confused and maybe a tad bit startled by his strange behavior.

Just when he thought he had gotten a little progress in the conversation there was an inconvenient interruption. "Fuka!" Someone yelled from the street. The girl ran over to the pair and stood above Hideki.

"What are you doing with this creep Fuka?" She asked. He felt a hard object fall on his head and roll onto the ground beside him. An apple. It was the girl he had first seen when arriving into this new world. She refused to let him help her with her bag and claimed that he dressed like an elderly person.

"Be careful where you drop your stuff." He growled.

"Oh really? I might just drop the whole bag on your head." She laughed. But she refrained from assaulting him with apples and sat down next to Fuka.

"Do you two know each other?" Fuka asked, trying to move past the rude exchange that had just occurred.

"This weirdo tried to pick me up off the streets. You should have seen him! He was clinging to the walls like a child." She laughed. Hideki felt his blood boiling as she made fun of him.

"I was just trying to be a good person. You're the nasty one here." He glared at her.

"Anyways. I should introduce myself. My name is Hasuki. Me and Fuka go way back so if you try anything weird I'll make sure you regret it."

"Go it..."

"Hasuki...Don't say things like that. Hideki is a nice person." Fuka said with embarrassment. She really was precious.

Although he didn't like Hasuki, he knew it was necessary to make peace with her so that he could get closer to Fuka. My first goal is to make friends with Hasuki so she'll trust me. There's no other way. He internally groaned at the thought of being friendly with her.

"Anyways, sitting here is boring! We should be doing something fun. I bet this terrible "date" was your idea Hideki." Hasuki said.

"Actually it was-" Fuka tried telling her that she was the one who invited him to lunch but Hasuki had already gotten up and swept Fuka to her feet. Hideki glared at her as if to say "I won't go down without a fight."

"Hideki, you're a man right? Would you mind carrying my bag?" Hasuki asked, blinking her eyes attractively. He groaned and reluctantly picked up the bag of apples. It was heavy but he tried to appear stronger than he really was so he could keep his pride.

He trailed behind the girls as Hasuki led them through the city. Just watching Hasuki talking smack about him to Fuka was making his blood boil. But even though he hated her, his natural personality couldn't help but think she was attractive.

Soon they arrived outside of a wooden building. "This is the bar, I'm a regular here so don't mess anything up." She said, glaring at Hideki.

"Whatever." He mumbled under his breath. He just wanted to find a place to set Hasuki's bag down and then get to striking another conversation with Fuka.

"Don't "whatever" me mister! Come on Fuka." She said and led the green haired girl inside of the bar.

"Wai-" Hideki reached out his hand but they had already disappeared into the large crowd. "Fuka is way too innocent to be hanging out in a bar, I'll get you back for this Hasuki." He said. Then he reluctantly walked inside and tried to find the two girls.

After searching for a few minutes he found them standing around with a group of people and chatting. "I hate this place." Hideki sighed. He found an empty table and sat down there, putting the bag of apples on a chair next to him.

He sat there for what seemed like forever, watching Fuka smile and socialize. He didn't know what was stopping him from getting up and talking to her, but it didn't feel right.

A teenager around his age came up to him and sat down. The boy had obviously had a few too many drinks. He collapsed onto the table and fell asleep. Hideki frowned and kicked the boy's leg lightly.

"Out cold, huh?" Hideki said. The boy had light brown hair with a purple streak in it. His clothes were wet and from just a glance around the room Hideki knew why. There was a group of boys in one corner of the bar pouring cups of ice cold water on each other.

"Does this place really have no rules?" Hideki said with disgust. The boy next to him started whimpering and then threw up on the floor. "Nasty."

Hideki didn't want to have to touch the guy, but the smell was unbearable. He stood the boy up and carried him over to the bathroom. Not without struggle though. The whole way the boy's shoes were dragging the vomit across the floor.

He took the boy into the bathroom and leaned him over a sink in case he threw up again.

Just as Hideki was about to leave the room to go find Fuka, the boy coughed and pointed at Hideki. "Towel." He said. Hideki frowned, getting the feeling that this guy would need more attention than he was willing to give. Hideki reluctantly got him a paper towel.

The boy stumbled up and wiped off his face. "Thanks man." He smiled and gave Hideki a thumbs up. Hideki left the room and sat back down at a different table. He felt bad for whatever staff member would have to clean the mess, but there was no way he was touching that guys vomit.

A few minutes later the boy came stumbling out of the bathroom and sat down with Hideki.

"You better not barf again." Hideki threatened, though it didn't come off as very menacing. Hideki glanced back over to Fuka and Hasuki. They certainly weren't having as much trouble as he was.

"So buddy, I'm Aoya. You are...?"

"Er- Hideki."

Hideki didn't really want to be friends with him. In fact, he had never really had any guy friends. He had always been too busy trying to get girls to fall for him, so the boys at his school didn't really like him, as was made clear by his cause of death.

"Hey fancy, who's this?" Hasuki seemingly came out of nowhere and pushed Hideki into the table, causing him to nearly fall over. Fuka was behind her.

"I swear i'll-" Hideki was about to lash out at her but stopped himself.

That's right, I'm better than this.

"Can we go now? I'm tired." Fuka said, rubbing her eyes. Hideki hadn't even noticed how late it was by that time. They had been in the bar nearly all day.

The three of them left the bar with Aoya drunkenly stumbling after them. "See ya later fancy!" Hasuki said.

"Wait!" Hideki said. "I don't have anywhere to stay...Is there a hotel or something around here? Wait no...I don't have any money."

"You don't have money?" Hasuki said suspiciously.

"He doesn't. That's why I bought him lunch today." Fuka chimed in. Hideki's eyebrow twitched.

Thanks for calling me broke, He thought.

"You could sleep at my house tonight." Fuka offered kindly.

"No no no- There is absolutely no way I'm letting him stay with you. You both can sleep at my house." Hasuki said.

Hideki cursed under his breath at the loss of a perfect opportunity.

It was settled. Hideki, Hasuki and Fuka would go to Hasuki's house for the night and Hideki would find a place to stay the next day. Somehow that also included Aoya, who nobody questioned why he was there when he welcomed himself into Hasuki's house.
