A Human's Worth

Upon arriving at the classroom, I waited there for around 5 minutes and upon hearing the bell ringing, I knew that there was nothing else that I could do for the rest of the day. 

The only thing I needed was to find out the information that Kazumi could provide me about the two of them. Upon hearing her intel gathering, I could move onto the big thing.

"Counting today... I still have one more day which is tomorrow to have an answer and solve the issue at hand"

That was the time limit that Miss Mitsuru had provided us to achieve it and even though it seemed like very little time, that wasn't the case.

For such an issue, more than two days seemed too excessive, two days was more than enough for us to get what we needed and that was just what I had gone ahead and done.

But instead of me personally searching for the information, I had sent over another person to do my bidding and that alone was enough work for me.

"Now... I just wait and see what she comes up with"

As the hours passed on by, I decided to sneak a glance over at where Kazumi was sitting just to see her expression. To my surprise, she seemed to be relatively normal. There didn't seem to be any hint of anger, fear and what not.

The reason that I was preoccupied about this was for the reason that I had heard from a few passersby that Okada Kyoko was sort of a stuck up individual. She believed she was better than everyone else and that alone had made her sort of an enemy of a few of the girls not only from our year, but also the senior students.

"I hope Kazumi was able to get on her good side or if she's already friends with her, then better for me"

Once the last hour finished, the sound of the bell ringing snapped me out of my thinking process and made me stand up almost immediately.

Upon my gaze meeting Kazumi's, I gave her a single signal to go to the rooftop which she replied with a nod of her own.

"Perfect"

Upon arriving at the rooftop, I leaned up against the fencing and sighed to myself "Now then... Let's see what damage can be done"

After waiting there for around 5 minutes or so, I heard the subtle sound of the roof door opening up alongside a set of footsteps.

"Sorry I'm late"

"Yeah, you are pretty late. What happened?"

"I got stuck talking to a few of my friends from class, that's all"

"Got it" "So? What did you find out?"

"Well... The thing is..."

"Come on, spit it out"

"It seems like Okada believes that Ogawa has been flirting and meeting behind the scenes with her boyfriend. Even though she doesn't know if it's the complete truth, it looks like she's keeping her distance so that she can find out the truth about everything"

"I see... What does Ogawa have to say in regard to all of this?"

"Ogawa told me that she isn't meeting up with him at all. The few times they have, is just because they live close to each other which I can vouch for"

"..."

"What are you thinking about Makoto?"

"Nothing to important"

"I don't believe you for a second..."

"I'm being serious here. I have nothing in regard to her reason of being so distant with her" It was a complete lie on my part, but even then, something wasn't adding up.

"Now that I've done this small favor for you, you'd better promise me to do any one thing i ask of you"

"Yeah, yeah"

"Don't say it like that~!"

"Sorry..."

"Now then... I'll see you later"

"Where are you going?"

"My friends wanted to go to the mall, want to come-"

"No thanks" I had to cut her off before she would try and invite me with her. There were things I needed to do and if I wanted to get the most out of the situation, then I would also need the second day to obtain everything.

"I see, I guess we'll do it another time"

"Sure, that sounds good. Maybe even next year"

"Not that long!"

"Oh..."

With a single wave of her hand, she left the rooftop, and it was simply me overlooking the entire school with a hand to my chin.

"This is looking to be pretty fun..."

After hanging around for a bit more in the rooftop, it was finally time for me to start heading home myself. But even then, that alone didn't mean that I wasn't going to be thinking about what to do next.

Upon waking up the next day and starting to head to the school, a familiar figure caught my attention near the school entrance "What the hell is she doing there?"

I tried to slip by as if I hadn't seen her, but to my surprise, she started walking towards me and before I knew it, she had started walking alongside me as if nothing had happened.

"Hey there, Makoto"

"Sup"

"How's your problem solving going?"

"Not too good"

"Yeah... Same here"

"Ho? So, she's having troubles, huh?"

"But even then, I should be able to have something by the end of today"

"You will?"

"Yeah, yesterday didn't go to well with me talking with Okada, but thankfully, she agreed to talk with me after a while of convincing"

"Good for you"

"..."l

"What?"

"Are you just saying this stuff while not listening to me?"

"What makes you say that?"

"I just have that feeling"

"You would know if I'm doing that"

"..."

"I can assure you that I am listening to you" I wasn't lying to her. I was genuinely paying attention, but not for the reason that she believed, it was for my own benefit.

"I guess that's fine" "And how are you going to do with this whole situation?"

"I'll find out what to do, don't worry about it"

"I guess that's fine"

With that, the both of us made our way inside the school and as we were doing so, I could tell that it was finally my time to move on and do what I had needed to do.

"With this, I should be able to handle the entire problem"

Upon arriving to our classrooms, I glanced around the room for a bit and simply let out a sigh of relief "I don't want to, but I guess I'll have to be a bit active after school"

For me, the start of the school day was not important. The only thing I needed to work on was on what I needed to do after school.

"Should I meet up with the Torture Princess?"

The thought crossed my mind for a moment, but at the same time, I needed to focus on my studies for my own good.

"I guess I'll wait until it's time for lunch to meet up with her"

The time seemed to have passed by almost too quickly and when it did, it was finally time for me to head to the roof top to see what went down.

Upon opening the door, I noticed that sure enough, she was already there waiting not for me, but just anticipating my presence.

"So, you're here?"

"Yeah, the same thing could be said about you"

"I sort of expected that you were going to be coming here"

Kano was sitting on one of the few benches that lingered the rooftop of the school. Even though nobody was allowed to be up here, they still left these benches here.

She moved all the way towards the end of the bench while I took the other far end of the bench.

"How'd it go?"

"It went good"

"You're going to do it?"

"What?"

"You know what it is"

"..."

"I can smell your plan all the way from here"

"Liar"

"It's pretty obvious from the eyes of someone like me"

"..."

"So, is it going to work?"

"It should work" 

"Go for it, Makoto"

"That's the first time you've used my name..."

"I think it's a good time to use it. Besides, isn't it a pain in the ass to be calling out to each other with our nicknames?"

"You have a point..."

"So just call me Kano"

"I guess this is the moment that we start seeing each other differently"

"Don't even think about it, maggot"

"Yeah, I guess not"

After talking for a bit more, it was finally time for the both of us to start heading to our classroom's and upon doing so, I glanced to my right and saw Okada walking alongside Ogawa.

"..."

"..."

Once they had passed us by, I sighed to myself "I can't wait to bring them complete and utter despair"

"..."

When classes finished for the day, I exited the school and instead of heading towards my own house, there was something else that I needed to do.

"Let's see..."

I continued following Okada's boyfriend for a while and after what seemed like a long walk of just him looking around, out of nowhere, he met up with a girl who wasn't Okada.

I pulled out my phone and snapped a few pictures of them on their what seemed to be date "This should prove to be helpful"

The entire time I was following them, something about the girl in question seemed to be throwing me off a bit.

"I guess it's worth following her as well"

Once their date finished, it was already pretty late in the day, but even then, this was something I needed to do if I wanted to get to the bottom of the issue.

"I'll stay out all night if need be"

As I continued following the girl in question, sure enough, the fishy feeling was obvious for me now. A smirk appeared on my face and I could finally make things even more entertaining.

The next day, we had both Ogawa and Okada come to the club room to discuss the matter at hand. Both Miss Mitsuru and Katsumi were present as well which was more then enough to keep everyone at peace.

"Now then, I'd like to hear your answers as to why this is happening. Katsumi, go first"

"Sure" Katsumi walked forward and took in a deep breath "From what I heard of Okada, she thinks that Ogawa is having a hidden relationship with her boyfriend and that's her reason for keeping her distance"

"Makoto. Do you have anything to say about this answer of hers?"

"No, because It was the same answer that I was going to say"

"Perfect" "Now then, Okada, can you tell us why you think that it's Ogawa?"

She turned towards Miss Mitsuru and sighed "Because whenever my boyfriend is too busy or something, Ogawa is also busy and that just sounds too fishy"

"But... I always tell you that it's because I have to take care of my younger brother"

"But even then, it's too much of a coincidence"

"..."

I cleared my throat and decided to speak up myself "I understand all that concern on your part, but I really don't think you should be worried about it"

"I shouldn't?"

"No. I followed him and noticed that yes, he is going around with another girl, but the girl in question doesn't look anything alike Ogawa"

I pulled out a printed picture and passed it over to Okada "You're... Right"

"So, if we're talking about the situation, then yes, he is dating someone else, but it's not Ogawa"

She turned towards Ogawa and then back at us "I see... I guess I had it all wrong myself" "I'm sorry, Ogawa"

"No, I should have been the one to explain everything and showed you that it wasn't me. I'm sorry"

The both of them hugged it out and upon solving our first ever problem, the both of them were about to leave when I decided to call out to Ogawa "Ogawa?"

"Yes?"

"Can we talk for a bit?"

"Sure"

With that, the both of us left the club room and headed towards the nearby stairs. Upon making sure that everyone else had left, I decided to go down to the very core of the problem.

"You didn't seem all that surprised about the fact that he was dating someone else?"

"Well, he's always been popular with girls, so when I heard it, I wasn't surprised"

"I see, I guess you have a point, but even then... Something's a bit fishy"

"What is...?"

"This"

I pulled out a separate picture and waved it around for a bit "Who would've known that the girl he's cheating with lives in the house that you do?"

"...!"

"And before you start saying about an older sister or cousin and what not that's staying there, I can say for sure that that isn't the case at all since you're the oldest of one other sibling"

"Are you really trying to say that I'm the one?"

"Yeah, because it is"

"You don't even know where I live"

"I do. Because I was following you for the entire day yesterday"

"You creep!"

Before I knew it, she slapped the left side of my cheek with all the strength in her arsenal, but even then, that wasn't enough to make me stop.

"I wonder what would happen not only to him, but also to you if I showed this to Okada"

She quickly took the picture from my hand and ripped it. She was getting desperate with her secret not spilling out.

"I have the picture in every single one of my devices and I even have an email ready to be sent to her with everything that she needs to know, even the fact that you're dressing as someone else all the while dating her boyfriend"

"Your complete scum, you know that?"

"It's better then being a complete bitch who's only useful for being used in every way possible"

She was fuming with rage, but even then, the knowledge that I had everything to ruin her life was holding her back of actually doing anything.

"Be a good girl and don't do anything stupid. If you do, you can kiss your nice life goodbye"

"Fuck you!"

She sent a straight jab to my gut and left without a single care in the world. I let out a few coughs, but even then, the pain was nothing to me.

"Two people's lives are ruined and one of them is tied to my finger"

"Why...?"

I glanced over at the voice and noticed that it was Katsumi herself "What?"

"Why...? Why did you do that?"

"To show that people are scum. Human's aren't worth letting live"

"But... We're all supposed to help each other!"

"No, we're not" "There's no rule that says that we need to help each other out. The only rule is to be at the top of the food chain to live and if that's not possible with the abilities that you have, topple the top of the top all the way to the bottom so that they can be eaten first"

"So... You just wanted to ruin their lives?"

"Yeah, I did"

"You're... You're..."

"Just say it. I'm used to those words" "Being called scum, worthless, maggot, useless. Nothing can offend me anymore, so if you want to call me something, think about it"

With that, I left her to her own devices and made my way out of the school "I don't need to hear her. This was something that I wanted to do and nobody will be able to take that away from me"

As I made my way back towards the house, a smile flashed across my face at the mere thought of their expressions "Such a blissful feeling..." But then that expression turned to one of disgust.
