Boy or Girl?

A small child poked his head out of a dumpster, he surveyed the surroundings and jumped out.He stuck his hand through the stall right beside the dumpster and took out two small objects.

"Brat!You came to steal my buns again!"A man shouted

The child took off running and dashed through many alleys.He stuffed one of the buns in his mouth and ate happily after he found a safe place.

This child was Zhi Min, his clothes were ragged and his body was covered in dirt.He emitted a stench that some people found unbearable but he didn't seem to mind.His hair was rough but it was still somewhat clean.It was pink and long, his large green eyes blinked as he took out the other bun.

A slim boy walked over just as Zhi Min got comfortable

"c-can I have a bite?"He asked

Zhi Min looked down at the bun in his hand, then to the drooling child in front.He tore off half and passed it over to the child.

"Thank you!"The boy grabbed the half and gobbled it up in an instant.Zhi Min's face remained expressionless as he finished the bun.He patted his clothes and walked off.

"He's here!I found him!"A shout was then heard, Zhi Min shook and began running in the opposite direction of the sound.

"Stop him!"A woman's shout rang throughout the alley

Zhi Min ran even faster, he took twists and turns throughout the alley but was soon caught by the woman.Zhi Min was held by the back of his clothes as he was taken away."Zhi Min, don't run off like that, do you know how worried the director is?"The woman said with a sigh

Zhi Min remained expressionless as if he was bored.

"I'm bored, I don't want to go back"Zhi Min said

"Play with the other children"The woman said

"Those kids can't even tell the difference between a fruit and a vegetable, much less know what I talk about"Zhi Min retorted

The woman sighed again

"Are you really only 12?Can't you be more like a regular child?"The woman saidZhi Min pouted

"is it true I can leave the orphanage once I turn 14?"Zhi Min asked

"Yes, but life is difficult, I hope you don't be reckless"The woman said worryinglyZhi Min's lips curved into a smile

Two years passed

"Cya!"Zhi Min ran out of the orphanage with a smile and never turned back, the woman sighed as she watched him run off.

Zhi Min spent days searching for a job, he soon came to a stop when his stomach grumbled.He sat down on a sidewalk and looked aimlessly into the sky.People would walk by him and take a glance before leaving.Zhi Min looked around and his stomach grumbled again.

He rubbed his stomach and frowned

"I need to find a job soon"He mumbled, he was much more mature than before, his gaze was calm and he no longer acted childish.

He stood up and wandered around the city.

A woman with a tired expression limped as if she was about to collapse.But the moment she laid eyes on Zhi Min, her eyes lit up.

She ran over to him and placed her hands on his shoulder

"Girl, your face is perfect!Work in my cafe"She shouted

Zhi Min was stunned, but soon thought for a bit

"Alright"Zhi Min smiled and replied

Zhi Min for some reason didn't react when the woman called him 'girl'.He just followed her to a small cafe by the corner of a street.

"Go get yourself washed up, oh, I'm so excited"The woman giggled to herself, her breathing was slightly heavy and her heart raced.

"Boss, who is she?"A girl walked from the back of the cafe and asked

"A new employee"The woman replied

"Boss, just because we're short on hands doesn't mean you can go kidnapping children"The girl said

The woman almost tripped

"Nonsense, she agreed willingly"The woman retorted

Zhi Min ignored the commotion and went to take a bath.The woman prepared a clean set of clothes for him outside so after a few minutes, Zhi Min came out clean and tidy.

"Wah, I knew you were pretty, but after cleaning you up, I found out you're also very charming"The woman said as she leaned in

*grumble*

Zhi Min smiled awkwardly

"um...can I get something to eat?"She said with a trace of embarrassment

"Or course"The woman said

She prepared a bowl of noodles which Zhi Min finished in a matter of minutes, he let out a satisfied burp and smiled away.

"Thank you, when is the work hours?"Zhi Min asked

"It is 6 hours a day, since we're not that big of a cafe, we don't receive much customers so don't expect much pay"The woman smiled and said

Zhi Min nodded

"I will work full time then, I'll do all six hours"Zhi Min said with determinationThe woman and the girl laughed

"Stop joking, you're young so you still have school to attend. how can you work full time"The girl said

Zhi Min pouted

"I don't go to school anyways, why can't I just work here"Zhi Min threw a tantrum and shouted

"Ah, you don't go to school?Won't your parents be sad?"The woman asked

Zhi Min shook his head

"I never had parents anyways, so can I work full time or not?"Completely disregarding the pain point, Zhi Min asked

"Are you perhaps an orphan?"The woman asked

Zhi Min nodded

"No wonder...alright, you can work but not full time, you must go to school, I will pay for your fees for the first few years"The woman said

Zhi Min shook her head

"I don't want to, it's boring"Zhi Min shouted

The woman sighed

"If you don't go, I won't pay you"She said

Zhi Min froze, he suddenly fell to his knees

"I will do as you say!"He shouted

The girl found the scene to be funny and couldn't help but let out a giggle.Zhi Min was just too funny, changing so fast the moment money was brought up.

The woman's name was Qing Rui and the girl was called Ying Wu, Qing Rui gave Zhi Min a room to sleep in at the cafe and sent him to school the following day.Night fell and Zhi Min hid in the blankets.

He squirmed and struggled as something strange happened.His chest began to puff out as his body became even slimmer.

"ng"A high pitch voice was heard, it wasn't much higher but there was a difference in the pitch.Zhi Min stood up and gazed at the moon.He slowly changed his clothes, however, when he removed his clothes, what was revealed was the body of a girl!?

Zhi Min seemed to be used to it and changed into pajamas.

Qing Rui came in, when she saw Zhi Min's puffed out chest, she couldn't help but hug her.

"Wah, did you bind your chest in the day?So big already"Qing Rui said cheerfullyZhi Min flushed pink

"d-don't touch there or I'll sue you"Zhi Min muttered

Qing Rui laughed and poked her cheeks

"Getting shy now?"She teased

Zhi Min pushed her away lightly and jumped into her bed.The tip of her ears were slightly red from embarrassment and she closed her eyes.

Qing Rui smiled and left the room.

But after Qing Rui left, Zhi Min was no longer flushed, she turned over and looked out the window while laid down.Her gaze was full of confusion.

“How should I react to a woman?Am I really a girl, or am I a boy?I don’t know...I don’t know”Zhi Min curled up and muttered to herself.

“Why do I become a girl at night and a boy in the day?Am I-am I really human?”Zhi Min closed her eyes and the night passed quietly.

Zhi Min woke up, she placed her hand over her chest which was now completely flat.“ah”The voice also became deeper

“Seems I’m back to being a boy now”Zhi Min got out of bed and changed into his uniform.Qing Rui wouldn’t take no for an answer so he had to wear it neatly and quickly.

He rushed down the stairs after wearing the uniform, Qing Rui got him pants since that's his choice, after all, he was still a boy in the day time.

“Zhi Min, you’re such a pretty girl yet you decide to wear the male uniform, what a pity”Qing Rui said with a trace of disappointment

Zhi Min smiled

“Boss, I prefer this, its more comfortable”Zhi Min said

Qing Rui nodded and waved her hand

“Go go, if you’re lucky, you may have talent to becoming a superhuman”She said and went back to running the cafe

Zhi Min gave her a grateful look before running off.His smooth pink hair fluttered as he ran, he soon stood before a large gate.

“*gulp*, let's hope it isn’t too boring here”Zhi Min stepped in and walked to the yard.

There were many other students there already, although he arrived early, Zhi Min asked for directions and soon arrived at an unfamiliar classroom.He stepped in and looked around the room, only to see that it was completely empty.

He walked in and sat down, thinking about how there is nothing to do, he slouched his head over and slept.

After some time, more students arrived in the classroom and Zhi Min was woken up by the sound of chatter.

“Eh, there's a new girl”

“No, that's definitely a boy, right?”

“How can that be a boy?She’s so pretty, must be a girl”

The students began to argue whether Zhi Min was a boy or a girl.Zhi Min yawned and looked around.

“Um, are you a boy or a girl?”A girl walked over and asked

Zhi Min rubbed her eyes

“I’m a boy”He said

The girl was surprised but soon smiled

“See, I was right, he was a boy”

“What, how can this be?He’s so pretty though”

“Who said boys can’t be pretty”The girl retorted

Zhi Min seemed bored as he listened to the conversation between the students, he yawned again before going back to sleep.

The teacher soon walked in, but behind him was two people that Zhi Min never heard about.He was only informed about a teacher, not the two behind him.

“These two are from the Dragonix, the students will be picked to see if they can enter the seed class which will be created for those with supernatural talents”The teacher explainedZhi Min poked his head up

“First, Wei Nan”

A boy walked up and the man from Dragonix placed a scanner at his heart.“He doesn’t have any talent, next”

Wei Nan turned back in disappointment and sat back down.

“Next…”

“Next…”

“Next…”

Soon, everyone apart from Zhi Min was tested.Three people had obtained a spot in the Seed class, first was Shu Fei with a D class talent, next was Nan Bei with a E class talent, finally was Yue Na with a whopping A class talent.

The ranking for the talents is from E to A, with E being the lowest and A being the highest.Zhi Min was then called up, he stood up and walked over.

“Zhi Min, pass, E class talent”

The man said

Zhi Min was slightly surprised but soon calmed down and sat back down emotionlessly.The four of them were then moved to a different class.Zhi Min felt confused, it was his first day yet he already had to move classes.

There were a total of 23 in the seed class, including the four of them.Zhi Ling sat down and a scroll was soon passed around.

“This scroll is the basic practice of spirit strength, the stronger your spirit strength, the stronger your supernatural power will be, of course, as for what your talent lies in, you need to discover it yourself”The man from the Dragonix said

Zhi Min opened up the scroll and read the content.He then placed the scroll aside and closed his eyes.When he opened them tiny particles floated around him, he reached out his hand, trying to touch them but they disappeared the moment he touched them.He then felt a warm feeling in his chest when it disappeared.

The man took notice of Zhi Min’s actions

“Did you sense the energy around you already?”He asked

Zhi Ling nodded

The man clasped his hands

“Wonderful, keep practicing, there strengths are split into E, D, C, B and A, you all are currently only E rank, as you get stronger, your rank can increase”He smiled and sat down

Hours passed and soon, more and more people sensed the energy.Zhi Min felt his body strengthen but he wasn’t too sure.

“Alright, that's all for today, get back and rest up, tomorrow is when the real training begins”The man then left the room.

Zhi Min headed back to the cafe after all this, though he was very unfamiliar with this feeling of going to a place he can refer to as a home, however, in his heart, was a trace of expectation. When he arrived, he opened the door and a figure jumped out and hugged him.
