Chapter eighteen: The marksman

“It’s so boring out here at night” Freyja said as she poked around a garbage bin

“I don’t think you’re meant to touch that” Lucy said

“why’s that?” Freyja asked

“Cause that’s a trash can” Lucy said as she did Freyja squealed as she jumped back shaking her hand to get any dirt off. As the duo continued down the street Lucy could feel a presence following them but she decided not to comment on it.

“Hey Lucy you said you don’t know any family In the slums then how where you born?” Freyja asked

“I used to have a friend in the slums I grew up with them, their parents gave me a home when I was young” Lucy took a deep breath as she continued her story

“I was about nine years old when they where born their mother died in child birth so I decided to take up the role and took care of them and watched them grow” Lucy stopped because she could hear Freyja beginning to sniffle

“I can’t believe you had to go through all that” Freyja sobbed as she wiped the tears from her eyes

“What a touching story” Someone said their accent sounded extremely western

“Oh are you a western descendent?” Lucy asked

“Why yes I am and I’m surprised you could tell” The man said

“Also What’s with the hat?” Freyja asked

“Well it’s meant to make me look like a cowboy” The man said “ugh i’m getting off track”

“Did you want to ask us something?” Lucy inquired

“no no I was gonna kill you, ya see i’m with the council” the man said taking off his hat to reveal his brown wavy hair his eyes a bright blue however his pupils seemed to resemble a cross air of some sort of gun. After taking his hat off Lucy and Freyja had already branded their weapons.

“geez you don’t seem to friendly now do ya” The man said

“of course we are going to be on guard you just said you’d kill us” Freyja said as she began to position her self in front of Lucy

“That won’t work a shield hasn’t got anything on me” the man said reaching for something in his pocket

“And why’s that? Is it because you’re gonna break it” Freyja said taunting the man

“My names Colton and my power is sharp shooter it allows me to always hit my shots” Colton began to explain as he did he pulled a gun out of his pocket and shot hitting freyja in the shin causing her to fall over in pain

“Freyja! Damn you cowboy” Lucy said getting ready to charge Colton as she did a bullet landed next to her

“Guess you even nullify something like my power pretty powerful you are ain’t you” Colton said getting ready to fire another shot. As he did Freyja got back up getting in a position where she was able to shield not only Lucy but her self as well

“So you aren’t just some bird brain then” Colton said as he fired a shot hitting freyja’s shield as the bullet hit her shield rebounding and hitting a pole just next to Freyja

“can you move Lucy?” Freyja asked

“not well my arm still hurts like hell” Lucy said holding her arm which was wrapped in a make shift stitch

“Then get behind some cover alright” Freyja said with a serious passion in her eyes

chapter nineteen: a western duel

“So you want to do a western standoff then” Colton said as he began to aim his gun at Freyja

“Yep you and me cowboy” Freyja said still hiding behind her shield as she finished her sentence a bullet narrowly avoided her hitting the rim of her shield

“That shields a bit against the rules in a standoff you know” Colton said as the final round in his revolver clicked into place as it did he fired hitting Freyja’s foot. She was able to keep calm even if it hurt like hell. Realising he was out of shots freyja began to run as her foot healed this left more of her body revealed but she was willing to risk it if she could get closer and maybe get one good clean hit off. When suddenly she felt a sharp pain in her knee Colton had already reloaded or so Freyja had thought as she realised a gun lying next to Colton.

“How did you reload so fast” Freyja asked getting behind her shield again

“I didn’t I just grabbed a new gun” Colton said the click of his revolver ringing through the empty street as he fired again.

“Now drop that damn shield and die” Colton said firing another shot. As the shot hit her shield Freyja began to move forward behind the shield

“Don’t think that’ll save you” Colton said firing two more shots as they hit Freyja in the legs causing her to fall and drop her shield. Freyja was able to get up pretty quickly however Colton had fired another shot hitting Freyja in the chest.

“You done yet you freak” Colton said as Freyja got up again placing her shield in front of her and began to charge Colton who had already pulled two more guns and began to fire

“You can do whatever you want to me physically but don’t you dare insult me” Freyja said as her body was riddled with bullets the wound closing as quickly as they opened up.

“God you’re disgusting” Colton said grabbing even more guns and began to fire this time Freyja began to charge at Colton the constant fire didn’t slow Freyja down one bit.

Freyja was able to get extremely close to Colton and as she went to hit him Colton began to laugh.

“What’s so funny cowboy?” Freyja asked

“You though you could beat me” Colton said as he pulled a shotgun out and stuffed in Freyja’s mouth

“i’ll see you in hell” Colton said as he pulled the trigger splattering Freyja’s brain all over the pavement as her lifeless body feel to the floor Colton began to walk towards Lucy.

“I’m sure you’ll be a bit more difficult than that won’t you” Colton said teasing Lucy as he began to march towards the dumpster Lucy was hiding behind the click of his shotgun ringing through the night.

“You asshole you’ll pay for what you did you piece of shit” Lucy yelled from behind the dumpster although he couldn’t see Lucy was biting down on piece of cloth she ripped off her shirt to try and calm herself down.

“Are you shaking in your boots right about now” Colton said kicking the dumpster as he did he heard Lucy squeal in pain.

“You really should check your surroundings more” Lucy said as Colton felt a tap on his shoulder as he turned around he saw Freyja standing there extremely pissed off.

“Now I’ve got this stupid ringing in my ears from you” Freyja said as she hit Colton with her shield causing him to fling into the dumpster and also knock a few teeth out.

“That should teach him” Freyja said massaging her temples

“I think you hit him too hard” Lucy said getting up form behind the dumpster

“Why’s that?” Freyja asked

“Because I can see where his skull shattered” Lucy said pointing at shards of bone sticking out from Coltons face

“Then maybe he shouldn’t have blown my head open” Freyja argued

“What ever let’s head back to the meeting point and meet up with the others” Lucy said as she began to turn from Coltons corpse

Chapter twenty: a rock and rolling day

“So you guys didn’t have any luck either huh?” Lucy asked Anna

“Nope we only ran into an enemy and had to kill them” Anna responded

“Then let’s continue heading towards the city” Lucy said

“Actually we should take a days break don’t want to overwork ourselves too much do we?” Enia suggested to her surprise everyone agreed and decided to look around and relax for the day. Kristin and Enia went off to some market while Lucy, Freyja and Anna decided to sit down at what appeared to be stage although it was extremely empty.

“Hey what’s going on here Anna?” Freyja asked as the three took a seat

“It’s meant to be a concert but the people preforming don’t have the best reputation” Anna explained as she did four people walked on stage two of them holding a guitar and one sitting down at the drums

“Good evening everyone are you ready to rock?” The person at the mic said to no reply

“Give up it up sakura we never have an audience” the man at the drums said

“Then let’s get this over with” Sakura said as she began to sing Lucy was taken aback by how beautiful her voice was and then everyone else started playing their instruments blowing Lucy away with how beautiful it all was

“It’s called rock and roll” Anna yelled over the music

“Shut up I’m trying to enjoy this” Lucy yelled back as she stood up her eyes lit up with excitement as she began to bang her head to the beat of the drum. As the song concluded the band began to pack up

“Encore!” Anna yelled

“Yea encore that was amazing” Lucy said as she stood up from her seat giving the band a standing applause.

“Are my ears playing tricks on me or was someone in the audience?” Sakura asked turning to crowd his stare blank.

“Yea you did encore let’s hear another song” Lucy yelled into the empty stadium

“Than let’s give the fans what they want” Sakura yelled into the mic as the rest of the band began to play their instruments the rush Lucy felt coming back and hitting her like a truck

“You know I interviewed these people once” Anna said

“Really what did you learn” Lucy asked over the music

“The lead singer is actually blind” Anna said as Freyja got up and started to bang her head with Lucy. As the music came to a stop Sakura spoke to the crowd

“Now come on up to the stage those in the audience” As she said this Lucy got up without hesitation although Anna and Freyja didn’t get up as quickly. Lucy ran to the stage and began to climb up.

“How are you doing?” Asked sakura

“I’m doing great can I ask you a question” Lucy said hyperventilating from excitement

“Ask away” Sakura said

“How do you sing and preform even though your blind?” Lucy asked

“Well that’s simple I’m determined to not let my dream die” Sakura said a smile growing on his face.

“Thanks I just needed my curiosity cured” Lucy said feeling a little embarrassed from the question she asked

“Although this is our last performance for a while” Sakura said the smile disappearing from his face

“We’ve been going through some financial problems so if you want to hear us preform again you’ll have to book us out” Sakura said

“Tell you what I’ll book you out when I’m able to achieve my own dream” Lucy said

“Really? Then I’ll be eagerly awaiting that moment partner” Sakura said holding their fist out for a fist bump Lucy obliged than hoped down from the stage and left the area with Anna and Freyja

Chapter twenty one: the straw that broke the camels back

After a long day the group decided to go out for dinner at a nearby tavern thinking they could enjoy a girls night out. However all that would change with a couple sentences

“Hey guys long time no see mine if I take seat?” Eva asked

“Yea sure go ahead” Lucy said as Eva took a seat next to Lucy

“I’ve got some more info for you guys” Eva said

“Please tell us” Anna, Kristin and Enia begged all in unison

“Alright alright then, but it’ll cost you” Eva said rubbing her fingers together as if she was holding money

“Ok how much?” Enia asked

“Only a meal from this place” Eva responded

“Deal” Kristin stated not giving Enia a moment to even think

“Alright so I got the names of the council members” Eva said. After a long pause from the group Eva continued

“Their names are Vselennaya, Sigag, Iwi, fauna and Wenluan” Eva said the group still silent at the information they just received. Finally after all this time they had finally gotten another lead on the council

“Do you have anything else?” Freyja asked

“Nope sorry” Eva said trying to pull a cute face

“Hold on how do we know we can trust you?” Anna said

“Because I appear in the ancient text?” Eva said confused at Ames question

“What ancient text?” Lucy asked as she did Enia’s heart dropped as she realised what she would have to explain

“Didn’t Enia tell you about it?” Eva asked as she did everyone turned to Enia

“Well you see there’s this text that states that five beings will destroy the fifth council” Enia said her voice shaky as she noticed Lucy’s hand turn to a fist

“It states that they will go through hardships and one will die but they’ll be able to overcome it” Enia continued

“Shut up” Lucy said she was visibly shaking from anger

“It said that the hardships they go through will all turn out ok as long as what is stated in this book is followed” Enia continued ignoring Lucy’s request

“Please just stop” Lucy begged

“As long as they keep going fate will guide them” Enia still continued

“I said shut up!” Lucy yelled slamming the table

“Are you trying to tell me that all the hardship we went through all the suffering was meant to happen?” Lucy said as she stood up and approached Enia

“Lucy calm down” Freyja said trying to grab Lucy’s arm

“Are you telling me that I couldn’t do anything to stop my friend from dying!” Lucy said grabbing Enia and lifting her into the air

“Yes I am if she didn’t we wouldn’t have been able to leave the slums the prophecy wouldn’t have been correct” Enia said gasping for air as Lucy’s grip only tightened.

“What about all the pain we’ve been through?” Lucy asked “was that meant to happen was there no way we could change that?”

“Yes it was necessary” Enia said as she began to kick at Lucy who then let go dropping Enia to the floor as she hit the floor Lucy stomped her foot onto Enia’s head slamming it back into the floor.

“Don’t talk to me again your making me regret helping you” Lucy said as she stormed off to her room for the night

“I’ll be going now see you guys later” Eva said as she began to leave the tavern. The scene that had been caused was not followed by silence but by the sobs of Enia as she lay on the floor

“What was that?” Anna asked in shock

“Enia brung up something she shouldn’t have” Freyja said also in shock Kristin remained silent

Chapter twenty-two: conflict

“bit of a over reaction don’t you think?” Anna asked turning to Freyja

“what do you mean it’s perfectly justified” Freyja argued

“please guys just stop we need to calm down” Enia said

“Who said you could be the voice of reason?” Kristin asked turning to Enia

“I’m just trying to calm everyone down” Enia said

“Oh shut up Enia” Freyja said

“It’s your fault that we are even in this mess” Anna said

“Please I know I did something wrong” Enia said before she could finish she was cut off by Freyja

“I told you to shut up Enia” Freyja said as she grabbed Enia’s collar

“Put her down Freyja she’s already been through enough” Anna said

“Everyone just shut the fuck up!” Kristin yelled silencing everyone else after a brief moment of silence Anna spoke

“I’m going to bed”

“me too I also need to check on Lucy” Freyja said heading off to her room

“fine I guess we should head to bed to shouldn’t we” Kristin said

“I’ll wait down here a bit ok” Enia said as she sat back down

“what ever floats your boat” Kristin said going up stairs to Anna’s room. As she entered the room she found Anna sitting on her bed

“took you long enough” Anna said

“What do you want?” Kristin asked

“to know who’s side you’re on” Anna said looking at Kristin with little hope in her eyes

“I’m on Lucy’s side I think Enia took things too far” Kristin said getting ready to go to bed

“I should have known” Anna said the little hope in her eyes seeming to turn to dust.

“This all went to shit you know” Kristin said as she hopped in bed getting ready to sleep

“I just wish I got to know everyone better” Anna said also getting ready to sleep. Just before they could get to sleep Enia walked into the room

“You feeling better?” Anna asked Enia didn’t respond and went to the bathroom locking the door.

“Hey Lucy you doing alright” Freyja asked as she opened the door

“I’m doing the best I can” Lucy responded

“do you want to talk about it?” Freyja asked

“I’ll just sleep it off” Lucy said turning off the lamp

“Alright then see you tomorrow” Freyja said getting into bed

Chapter twenty-three: resolve

After a night sleep the group decided to continue heading towards their goal of the council. After Anna payed for the night they continued in silence

“Lucy you should apologise” Anna said turning to Lucy

“What if anything Enia should apologise” Freyja said the group stopped as the two began to argue

“Can you please stop talking” Enia requested although no one could hear her over Anna and Freyja’s arguing

“Why don’t we settle it with a fight then” Freyja said

“This isn’t the backwater place you’re from so no that’s irresponsible” Anna responded her comment left everyone speechless.

“You bitch” Freyja said as she slapped Anna leaving a noticeable red mark

“You motherfucker” Anna said as she punched Freyja in the stomach causing her to fall to the floor

“Oh my god can you two just shut up for two seconds” Kristin said yielding her trident

“what do you mean by that” Freyja said as she got back up

“You two will not shut up about who’s in the right and wrong and it’s getting on my nerves” Kristin said swinging her trident around

“Seriously are you two so up on your high horse you can’t realise that the two people you are arguing are trying to resolve it themselves” Kristin ranted

“What?” Freyja asked

“You two are literally tearing this group apart” Kristin continued ignoring Freyja’s question

“We’re just trying to fix things” Anna said

“Well you suck at it” Kristin said

“And not to mention that because of your actions you two are literally ruining any chances of us beating the council” Kristin continued

“but we aren’t hurting anyone” Freyja said confused

“You absolute dumbass Freyja do you not realise that if we aren’t in a good headspace we don’t stand a chance against the council” Kristin said pointing her trident at Freyja’s throat. As she finished everyone looked at each other realising what Kristin had said and realising that they were tearing apart the friendships they made everyone decided to move on except for Enia

“Why, why, why can’t you just do what the prophecy says to do” Enia said

“and you Enia you’ve got to shut up about this prophecy, seriously do you not realising that you’re hurting everyone with what you’re saying” Kristin said swinging her trident to Enia

“Yea Enia you’ve gotta shut up sometimes” Lucy said

“Don’t think you’re in the clear either Lucy” Kristin said now pointing her trident at Lucy

“What” Lucy said

“You overreacted back there this entire this situation is also your fault, honestly everyone here needs to learn to read the room and when to shut up god you’re all so annoying” Kristin said everyone once again fell into silence “now let’s think about what you’ve all done while we walk” Kristin said as she continued forward.

Chapter twenty-four: poisons effect

After travelling in silence for a while the group had stumbled into a suspicious figure who gave off a threatening aura

“Let me guess you’re with the council?” Kristin asked already holding her trident as everyone else brandished their weapons

“yep I am although I wasn’t sent by them” The man said his voice dry as if he hadn’t drunk any water within days as he turned around his lab coat began to flow in the wind although there wasn’t much under his coat only a singlet and pair of shorts

“I came here on my own hearing how strong you are” The man said as he continued Freyja and Anna fell to the floor unconscious

“what the hell was that” Kristin said jumping back

“My power I constantly emit this gas that renders people unconscious, Although I could step the intensity up and kill all of you but I’d rather have some fun first” The man said as he slowly began to approach everyone

“Doku?” Enia asked it was the first thing she said in a while

“bingo I knew you’d recognise me Enia” Doku said Enia immediately covered her nose and mouth with her hand and teleported back away from Doku.

“Don’t you run away” Lucy said as she stood her ground as she did Kristin fell to the ground unconscious

“only two left how disappointing” Doku said

“You son of a bitch I’ll kill you” Lucy said as she began her assault on Doku who grabbed her scythe as she swung it at her

“Tsk tsk Lucy I’m a lot faster than I look” Doku said grabbing her scythe and throwing it to the ground

“and stronger as well” Lucy said letting go of the scythe and throwing a punch at Doku who was able to catch her fist

“gosh you’re pretty weak” Doku said as he punched Lucy with his free hand in the stomach. As Lucy took the hit she was able to hit back landing a clean hit to Doku’s face

“Strong hit you got there huh” Doku said jumping back from Lucy

“Thanks, but I am kind of in the middle of something so if you could give us a break” Lucy said also jumping back

“Ya know what just for you I’ll turn down the intensity of the gas for a bit” Doku said as Lucy noticed that the air around her had become less purple. Before she could thank Doku he had continued his assault Lucy able to block a couple hits.

“Just let me hit you damn it” Doku yelled as he struck Lucy blocking again

“That’s not how a fight works man” Lucy said as she went for a clean hit on his stomach

“Wrong move lady” Doku said as he pulled a knife out intending to strike Lucy. What he hadn’t considered was how fast Lucy was able to react as she narrowly dodged the strike rolling to the side of Doku

“Now it’s getting interesting huh” Doku said a crazed look in his eyes as he went for another slash Lucy able to roll again

“Damn it Enia aren’t you going to help” Lucy yelled to no response but more of Doku’s attacks his crazed laughter echoing street.

Chapter twenty-five: a change in perspective

Doku’s assault was vicious no matter how many times Lucy would dodge he’d just keep coming back and keep slashing.

“Holy shit dude do you ever get tired” Lucy said

“Nope I’ve trained myself specifically so I could keep fighting as long as I want” Doku said finally getting a hit on Lucy slashing the side of her stomach

“Ahh blood how it’s been so long since I’ve seen the sight” Doku said looking at his blade which was covered in Lucy’s blood.

“You’re seriously fucked up man” Lucy said as she grasped her side the cut wasn’t too deep but still hurt like hell

“God Enia, are you going to help or not” Lucy said backing away from Doku

“No, I won’t” Enia said finally

“Why not?” Lucy asked

“Because the prophecy needs to be fulfilled” Enia replied

“Will you shut up about this damned prophecy” Lucy said as Doku began to charge her again

“Don’t ignore me you beautiful bag of blood” Doku said swinging his knife at Lucy

“C’mon Enia are you seriously going to let some dead people decide how you live your life?” Lucy asked Enia paused for a moment the question puzzled her as she stood afar trying to fight every urge to help her friends

“I thought you wanted to live your own life didn’t you” Lucy screamed as Doku slashed her again hitting her arm. Enia’s thoughts were a mess at the question on one side she wanted to help her friends to repay them for helping her but on the other she wanted to end the council and needed to follow the prophecy Enia was torn. Lucy was able to get a hold of Kristin’s trident to defend herself from Doku who had begun to laugh

“you really think that’ll save you” Doku asked mocking Lucy

“it’ll give me a chance” Lucy responded as she stood up. Before she could attack Doku took the knife to his own stomach and began to slice

“This is my most powerful attack Lucy you know what it is” Doku asked with a crazed look in his eye

“It allows me to produce even more gas and thus make it even more lethal” Doku said as he continued to slice, there were countless scars on his torso not to mention new holes that had began to leak gas.

“As long as I’m immune I’ll kill you before you can hurt anyone else” Lucy said holding the trident trying to imitate Kristin

“Heavenly arrow of a thousand pieces” Enia said cutting through Lucy’s final stand

“what’s this Enia has decided to finally take a stand” Doku said as he did Lucy turned to find Enia conjuring what seemed to be an arrow of antimatter a look of determination filled her eyes

“Lucy, I decided I’ll live my own life now let me take down this fool” Enia yelled as she fired the arrow

“Thank god” Lucy said the arrow in mid air splitting into many more arrows as they phased through Lucy and pierced Doku Assuming she killed him as the gas began to disperse. Enia teleported back to the group

“Here let me help with that” Enia said as she formed antimatter around Lucy’s wounds applying pressure to her wounds

“I’m surprised this works” Lucy said

“Well, I’m not acting on you I’m just forming stuff near there” Enia explained before she could go into more depth, she was disturbed by something

“You think that’s enough to kill me?” Doku asked as he got back up

“of course, not” Enia said turning to face Doku who had branded himself with another knife and began to charge at Enia who didn’t show any sign of flinching

“But this will” Enia said as she did Doku stopped in his tracks as Lucy watched in Horror the side of his torso ruptured antimatter spewing out as it did

“It’s a bomb of sorts I basically left a little bit of antimatter inside of you from the arrows then I expand it and create more antimatter creating basically a bomb that crushes you from the inside out” Enia explained Lucy seemed scared as she never knew Enia had such a devilish side

“I’ll still get you I swear on my grave you’ll die here” Doku said somehow still alive trying to get up

“That won’t do, will it? I guess I’ll have to do a little more” Enia continued as she did a blade of antimatter was summoned above Doku

“Just die now alright?” Enia asked as the blade came down ending Doku’s life in an instant.

“Geez that was a bit scary” Lucy said

“Please don’t move your wounds must still hurt her let me just” Enia said as she created a wall behind Lucy for her to lean on

“Man, when did you get so strong?” Lucy asked as she got comfortable on the wall

“I’ve always been this powerful, but I was lying to myself saying I wasn’t” Enia said

Chapter twenty-six: explanation

After everyone woke up from the Doku’s poison Enia made sure they were all right Enia sat everyone down around Lucy to finally explain herself

“I haven’t been honest with you as you all know” Enia said

“Yea you haven’t” Kristin said sitting down next to Anna

“I want to be honest with everyone but before I can I need to apologize for keeping everything a secret and demanding you follow this stupid book” Enia said as she took a deep breath

“Take your time this must be hard on you” Anna said trying comfort Enia

“Thanks, Anna” Enia said

“You see long ago my great grandfather wrote this book claiming it said how to defeat the council anybody who was against the council would believe in that after all we had no hope” Enia said as she summoned a portal next to her and reached her hand in pulling out a book

“This is the book he wrote before he died it explains in detail what will happen and how it will end” Enia said as she finished, she destroyed the book using her anti matter to dissolve the book in an instant

“Lucy asked me a question while you where all knocked out … she asked me if I wanted to live my own life. That question made me realise my life wasn’t mine it was what my family wanted” Enia said. As she did, she looked everyone in the eyes she noticed how most of them seemed forgiving except for Freyja.

“I don’t care what you went through with your family or whatever it doesn’t change the fact you wanted to let one of us to die and you also mad Lucy really upset” Freyja said

“I understand what I’ve done, and I understand if you can’t forgive me but please don’t think of me as the same person from back then” Enia said in response to what Freyja said

“I can’t you wanted one of us dead once how am I meant to not think of you like that” Freyja said her statement caused Enia to begin to tear up as she fell to the floor sobbing

“What the hell is wrong with you Freyja?” Kristin asked

“I’m just being honest you can’t tell me you guys can forgive her like that right?” Freyja asked

“I’m willing to she was doing what she thought she had to do” Anna said

“And it’s pretty hard to not do something you’ve been doing your whole life” Kristin added

“you’re on my side right Lucy?” Freyja said turning to Lucy

“I can’t say I am” Lucy said still leaning against the wall

“What!” Freyja exclaimed

“She changed and she saved all our asses so I’m willing to forgive her” Lucy explained

“Thank you Lucy so much” Enia said looking over to Lucy

“I just don’t think I can trust someone who when a single person says something negative about them they break down” Freyja said trying to explain herself

“It cause she’s been through a lot recently ok” Anna said crouching down to comfort Enia

“Your being kind of selfish Freyja” Kristin said everyone took Guras words more seriously as they came from her heart and were her honest feelings about everything

“How am I being selfish?” Freyja asked

“Because all you care about is Lucy and how she feels you can’t even handle the fact that she forgave Enia” Kristin said as she did Lucy was able to stand up

“I’m just trying to say what Lucy is to afraid to say” Freyja said but before she could Lucy had slapped her right across the face
