Chapter 3:

Friends

Red Velvet Love

Sometimes I wonder if dreams are more than just mere fantasies that our mind created. I laid in bed, recalling the dream I had last night. In it, there was a girl I couldn’t quite make out. It felt like there was a haze preventing me from recalling her. Still, it was obvious we were very close. The strangest thing is that it felt like I was watching a movie. I could see what was happening from various different angles, not just through my own eyes. While it was rare to have these dreams, it wasn’t like it never happened before. That’s why these types of dreams stood out to me. I never really understand why dreams occurred in this fashion, but it did help to better convey what was going on inside it.

I could remember the joy on my face, the comfort I felt while being with that person and even the atmosphere around us. It made me remember a happiness that was long forgotten. The more I felt, the more I was curious about this mysterious dream girl. While I was hoping to continue for a bit longer, my alarm sounded. It was signaling the start of the day.

“That’s my cue to get up I suppose. It’s never a good idea to skip.”

Plus, it’s still pretty much the start of the year. I would hate to fall behind, even if it’s a little. I finally got up, turning the alarm off. As always, I started by washing my face. I then changed out of my clothes from yesterday and put on my uniform instead. Since classes were today, I made sure not to forget anything in my bag. For breakfast I had something simple. Toast, jam and juice. After that, I headed out. Taking the usual route, only heading at a slower pace today.

Personally, I enjoyed taking in the scenes around me. Perhaps I’m even getting addicted to it? Before long, I noticed a few people along the same path. A little farther down, I caught a glimpse of a familiar figure. Honestly, it was an all too familiar figure if you ask me. Upon getting closer, I gave a casual greeting to them.

“Yo Tamura.”

“Oh? Yuuki!”

“How’s it going?”

“Listen to this Yuuki~.”

He continued on, voicing his complaints. Honestly, nothing has changed with him. Tamura happens to be my childhood friend. He’s also one of the few people who knows everything that’s happened to me. If it wasn’t for him possibly freaking out my absence, I might consider skipping once in a blue moon. Still, it’s thanks to him that I feel like I actually have so many causal days. I don’t know how my life would be without him now.

“Anyway, what about you? …How did it go?”

There was a slight hesitation in his question. Since the incident, he’s always been more considered when it comes to things relating to my family. Still, I’m pretty lucky to have someone who cares as much as he does.

“I guess you could say it was an abnormal day? Ha ha….”

I laughed awkwardly and told Tamura what had happened yesterday. From the misunderstanding, to the fight at the park. He burst into laughter, not containing it one bit.

“Ha ha ha ha!”

“Is it really that funny?”

“Of all people, to mistake you as a stalker? You!? I can’t even imagine it.”

To Tamura the thought was just that inconceivable. I wonder what his exact impression of me was. As I was thinking this, he grabbed me around the neck and pulled me in.

“Don’t worry! If you ever need any help convincing someone you aren’t, just give me a call. I’ll definitely prove it.”

He said with the biggest smile on his face. In response, I grinned back and wrapped my arm around his neck as well.

“Heh. I guess I’ll take you up on that offer then.”

We kept talking, going back and forth with one another. Not too long after, we arrived in front of the school. Tamura was also in the same class. So we accompanied each other until classes started.

The day went on, nothing in particular standing out. Immediately after the last class was done, Tamura came over to my seat.

“Yuuki! Any plans today? If not, why don’t we hang out?”

“Sure, I see no reason why not.”

“Then, any ideas?”

“Huh? You didn’t have anything in mind?”

“You could say that.”

He starts laughing with a confident smile. Without much thought, I gave a chuckle. I’m pretty sure I can guess his real intentions.

“Then I suppose we can think of something along the way. Let’s go into town, shall we?”

“Sounds like a plan!”

We grabbed our stuff and headed out. However, it was along the way that we encountered someone we weren’t expecting. And so, we had two new individuals join us on our little outing.
