Erin's Mistake (2/3)

As both Fennik and Erin crashed into the city, they escaped their ship and went into hiding, "master... What do you think happened to the others?" Fennik looked at Erin as to why he even asked a ridiculous question but replied, "I doubt it my friend... Knowing what happened... Barely any of our brothers and sisters would have a miracle in surviving that brutal attack... Come... We need to make haste and find shelter for the night." They roamed the streets and saw heinous crimes occurring, Erin wanted to step in but he was unable to as Fennik told him, "it is not our place to fight... What we can only do now is not afford any more fatalities." Erin tried to protest but Fennik told him, "Erin... If we were to help these people then it will lead to our deaths, listen, Erin, I know what type of man you are and what you do is within the heart but we must be prepared for what will happen next." Fennik and Erin continued walking passed the city until they found themselves cornered by a group of thugs, "give us all the Zonium you have Fox!!" Fennik tried to tell them that they didn't have any Zonium to spare, "Okay... so if no Zonium then DIE!!" They charged at Fennik and Erin, Fennik used his slingshot and managed to paralyze them enough for both Erin and Fennik to escape them, "Erin, listen to me...." both Erin and Fennik were attacked by a sorcerer, "Ex..." Fennik seem to know this sorcerer, "it's funny how the universe can bring two people that despise each other together, but enough chit chat, I'm here to claim what is mine... you." Ex summoned Soul skeletons to attack Fennik. "You just never learn do you Ex? I always was the best marksman." Fennik eliminated the skeletons as their boney structures were absorbed by the soil of the planet.

"That is correct but there is one thing you forget to realise... I always was the master of deception!" A skeleton hand grabbed Erin and started intensely gripping him, "Let him go Ex!!" Ex laughed and said, "only if you surrender your soul to me." Fennik was sweating and was given no choice but to do one thing, "I... REFUSE!!!" Fennik used the last of his powers to attack Ex but he was unsuccessful as Ex lodged a phantom spear into Fennik's chest, he started to spit yellow blood, he looked at Erin whose eyes were traumatised by what they witnessed, and he saw in Fenniks eyes that he was proud to die and before dying, he gave Erin a thumbs-up as the lodged spear ripped out from Fenniks chest and his blood went on the floor and him facing down on the soil, Ex laughed maniacal as Fenniks body lying on his feet, he let go of Erin and went to claim his soul, "that's odd! His soul left already... but... how?" Ex turned to Erin and saw his body react uncontrollably and with his eyes filled with rage, "GO TO HELL!!!" Erin let out an electromagnetic shock that paralyzed Ex as his body kneels to the soil, Erin used his Arkomanan blade and slide Ex in half but unknown to him, he died but escaped.
Erin walked to his Masters's deceased body and watched as the soil absorbed his body and as a gift, it gifted Erin his slingshot. He watched them take Ex's but it reject it and ripped his skin bit by bit until thousands of trapped souls were absorbed by the soil. Erin walked away from the crime scene and made a run for it, little did he know that using whatever he used, caused deep cuts to appear on his body and brutally injure him, he found himself weak and vulnerable when he came across a girl named Missy.

Erin looked at the puddle that was in front of him and saw a different man but he realised that it was his reflection... he was no longer the same apprentice that he was before... he changed drastically, after seeing his master die in front of him... he questioned himself, if the universe ever cared about the Orders intention, "I must find purpose." Looking back, Erin still wonder what that purpose may be, he looked at his arms and saw the deep cuts inflicted by that incident. "I wasn't ready." Erin looked out in the window of the van and saw the city more crimson than it was navy, "It was crazy how Exton was able to do this in 5 days after you stopped him." Erin sighed and told them, "sometimes I wonder what the planet would be like with me never encountering or even interacting with its residence..."
"Well it's a good thing you did show up, it meant we wouldn't have the key to stopping this maniacal bastard... I heard a rumour about Exton once being an all-powerful sorcerer only to be killed by a 17-year-old... it's embarrassing." Erin's expression changed, "This Rumour, did it happen exactly 15 years ago?" One of them nodded their head to confirm it, "(slight chuckle) then that rumours true, because it was me who... No!!" Erin finally put the dots together and realised who Exton truly was but the van was attacked, the passengers all fled out immediately and were vulnerable when Exton showed up, "Hello Exton, or should I say Ex?" Exton laughed and said, "took you 15 years, you need to Learn better child... I see that you haven't aged a bit... quite surprising in my opinion."
