I need to do something, so I won't have to live like that anymore.

"I don't know… maybe with the power of friendship or something?"

"You don't even have friends."

"I know okay… I was just kidding."

I couldn't sleep all night, I was thinking about today, and what to do.

The answer came quickly but I still spent the whole night thinking about details and imagining things.

I decided I will fight the demon king… Yes, like many fantasy slash isekai novels, this also has one of them. He's been less active lately and the rumors say he may be in a weakened state right now.

"Were you listening to me? Master!"

"Eh… I… I'm sorry, I spaced out a bit."

"I asked, if you at least have any plan, or useful knowledge which could help you."

"Don't worry, I wouldn't go without a plan. But before I go, there is something we need to discuss…"

"What is it, master?"

"Since, I will leave this place, there will no longer be any owner… You know… This means you can finally leave this place. You can go back to my brother. Actually you can do whatever you want."

The girl I am talking to right now, Maria, is my only maid at the small mansion I live… well, actually lived in till today. It's really hard to tell her this, I've spent my last few weeks only with her so it's kind of obvious that I will be sad with the farewell, but I can't ask her to stay by my side anymore…

Jeez, this awkward silence kills me.

"I guess I'll jus…"

"What are you talking about, master? I couldn't let you go alone, you're still way too weak"

As earlier, she didn't need to say this last part out loud…

I think I should say that she dont need to go with me. But I'm actually happy with what she just said. I mean… I have known her for less than three months, but I was able to see her grow as a person. She was very clumsy at the beginning. She often hid behind other maids' backs, and never said a word to me, nor to my brother. And now, she says something like that. I'm actually very happy.

"Okay, but you can drop the 'master' you know?"

"Okay-

-master."

She's bright red.

"Don't worry, it's alright either way."

And thus our journey has begun.

"What do you mean the demon lord has been defeated!?"

When we entered the guild, everyone was celebrating. I asked them what happened and they told me that my brother has defeated the demon lord, and is currently working on an agreement to let the demons from the demon lord army, who have left his party, live here.

They said that it's time to celebrate and asked us if we wanted to drink with them. Maria doesn't really drink beer, so she refused almost immediately and so did I. Then they told us that the first 3 beers are for free. Good that I have a strong will…

"Why does he always do that!? *hic* I had a perfect plan *hic*, and he ruined it."

"I'm sure it wasn't on purpose, master."

"I don't care *hic*. F#ck it, I'm just gonna focus on *hic* finding girls for my harem. *hic* I'm gonna go around, doing small tasks, and picking up girls along the *hic* way!"

It doesn't sound like a thing a good protagonist would do. But what should I do after my brother defeated the biggest enemy of every adventurer, when the only tasks right now will be these ones aiming at helping old people with their gardens, or stuff like that.

"Let's go Maria." 

"Haah *hic*, hey you, pour me another one."

"Are you sure Miss? You've drunk pr…"

"I SAID POUR ME ANOTHER ONE!"

While we were leaving, I heard this girl screaming at a barman. I'm actually pretty sure that I'm not the only one who heard her.

We stopped for a moment and sat beside her.

*5 mins later* 

"Asshole! *hic* Why did he suddenly appear and steal this opportunity from me!?"

"That's exactly what I *hic* thought!"

"I was training a lot and now all this time is lost…"

"Yeah I know what you feel."

I haven't trained though.

While we were talking she told me that she was also after the demon lord. When she was a kid she always dreamed of being an adventurer, and because of that other kids were making fun of her. She wanted to prove them all wrong by achieving something this big. 

"What are you going to do now?"

"I will be taking commissions *hic* and little tasks, and try to build my own harem!"

"Really? That's crazy, can I go with you?"

"Of course! So are you willing to join my harem?"

"Hell no."

So she's a tsundere.

Authors note:

I wanted to keep this chapter shorter because I haven't posted anything in 20+ days due to something I'm unable to talk about here, and I also thought that the moment I ended this chapter in, is actually good moment to end it. Next chapters will be longer and I'll try to put a upload schedule in 2nd or 3rd chapter.
