Before the launch

"Whooaaahh"
Rafael, a little dizzy after just waking up, started to realize what a mess his bedroom was, clothes were all over the place, few cards were lying on the ground, probably because of last night, but he didn't remember very well, only that was his brother farewell party.
"Ah yes, my brother is leaving today... WAIT, LEAVING TODAY"
Rafael jumped off his bed, almost tripped over to a math book, ignoring it, got out of the bedroom looking for his brother."Mom, where is Marcos?"

"He left about five minutes ago I guess"
"What?? Why he didn't awake me"
"He said you would have math test today, he probably did not want to bother"
Rafael flew back to his bedroom, got whatever clothes nearby, got changed, stole his mom breakfast and went towards the exit.
"HEEYY, what th-"
"Do you know if he went trough the metro or got the car?"
"First of all, that toast is mine, secon-"
"MOM, wich one??"
"The metro, your dad got the car, and don't forget the gas mask"

Getting a jacket and hanging his gas mask on his pants strap, Rafael started to run to the metro while eating. It is snowing, like always, the city is noisy with the sounds of the cars's horns, people arguing and the oxygen engines, sometimes even gun shoots, this city doesn't know tranquility. Down in the subway, Rafael was already getting desperate, moving as fast as he could towards the yellow line, bumping into people that were in the way, only to reach there too late, a train was departuring. He sat on the ground feeling like a failure, wondering how could he miss his brother leaving, after a while, someone talked to him.
"You know, even though I think you and the ground are very similar, sitting on the floor is kinda..."
"Sophie? What are you doing here?"
"What you think? accompanying our brother"

Marcos appeard behind the crowd, holding two ice creams, with a confused face seeing Rafael on the ground. After giving an ice cream to Sophie, Marcos went to help Rafael stand up.
"If I knew you would do all this, I would have woken you up"
"I told you yesterday, and you wake Sophie up and not m-"
"Okay okay, now let's go, I don't want to miss the other train"
Marcos, Rafael and Sophie, the three brothers were really close to each other, besides their family, they didn't have much friends, almost nobody wanted to have friends from the army.

 The metro were quite crowded, but not uncomfortable, after a few minutes, an explosion sound disturbed the trip.
"Whoah, what is that?" asked Sophie, dropping the ice cream.
"Look like it's another attack of the rebellions" Answered Marcos, trying to wipe the floor with his shoes, and failing really bad.
"And that is a-" Rafael was surprised with the mechas moving to resolve the conflict.

"The Standard Containment Units, that attack won't go any further" Marcos now trying to clean his shoes.
"Standard Con-what?" Sophie asked.

"SCU, they were originally designed to fight the Corruptions, but since it's been 300 years and none never showed up, now they are used to stop the rebellions, and well, they don't have enough firepower to take a SCU down"

The train entered in a tunnel again, they couldn't see the rest of the conflict, and soon it stopped, Rafael seemed excited.
"Wish I could pilot one of those"
"Then just join the army like the rest of your family" A man answered entering the wagon.
"Nicholas, don't say that out loud in a public train, want to start a fight??" Marcos said angrily, but also quietly, didn't want to call more attention that Nicholas already did.
