Chapter 2:

Farewell

Alive

Luckly, not many people heard it, or at least not enough to start a confusion, just a few frowned faces.
Marcos started to quietly reprehend Nicholas "You are really inconsequential, what if-"
"They hear?" Nicholas just wasn't concerned, and then he whispered back "It's not like they could face two armed pilots of the fenix squad"
Before Marcos could reply, Nicholas turned himself to the other two that were just looking them arguing.
"And how are you kids? Pretty sure you will miss your old Nick more than that boring guy over there"
"I will miss your cakes though" Sophie replied after some thought.
"You told me you would teach me how to pilot, but you didn't even show me your mecha" Rafael complained.
"I showed you the hangar" Nicholas answered all proud of himself.
"Can you guys change the subject please" Marcos requested trying to be polite.
Nicholas, who was a good looking, blond haired, guy, sat on a chair and started listening the news.
"The rebellion's target was the power station, but, thanks to the rapid action of the army, the attack failed, there are 13 rebels dead already. Appearently, it was an attempt to occupie the station and reroute the electricity. We would like to..."
"These guys don't learn, do they? not that the government is going to do something about, it helps to control the popul-"
"Shut up and move Nicholas, this is our stop" Marcos pushed Nicholas out of the train while signaling to Rafael and Sophia to follow him.

It was the central metro station, right below the heart of the city, where there was the bunkers, in case of invasion, the main entrance to the military headquarters, all the financial and executive buildings, and also the major pillar that generated the force field around the city. Marcos was pissed off, but he was holding himself until they reached the backdoor to the headquarters; in order to protect the identity of the military, there was these secret backdoors to enter the military posts.
"Okay, I get that it's your last day, It's also mine, and that you want a last fight, but do not try to find one with my brothers nearby" Marcos hold himself the most he could, since he didn't want to draw attention to the backdoor.
"I'm sorry..." Nicholas was surprised, and then, a little embarrassed because of the scolding "It's just that... for the next 20 years, being optimistic, we'll be just us six and those monsters. And I guess that I thought, maybe an last Peace control would relief a little bit"
"I always hated that name, and those missions" Marcos sighed.
"Said the guy with the highest score on Peace control" Nicholas quickly answered.

"Have you guys finished the nostalgic moment ?" Out of nowhere, a dark short haired man, full uniformized, showed up with an unfriendly face.
"Hey, Hayato, anh... how long have you been there?" Nicholas casually asked.
"Long enough, c'mon, we are almost late" Hayato rispidly answered.
"Go ahead Nicholas, you bothered my farewell too much" Marcos said while pushing him away, then, after turning towards his brothers, that at this point, were just listening.
"And I thought you had already forgotten us" Rafael said sarcastically
"How could I, now here" Marcos pulled them closer "I would really like that one of you to continue mom's business, you know how it is"
"These are your final words for us, I was expecting more, you know" Sophie said mockingly after a few seconds of silence
"Wha-"
Rafael and Sophie started laughing a little, and so did Marcos, one last moment of fun between all three brothers. Marcos hugged both and said "Don't do anything that you would regret later, so that you can be proud of being alive" let them and said "this one was a little more prepared" and went towards the others.

To Sophie, the penny still hadn't dropped yet, but to Rafael, it felt like part of him was going away "MARCOS" he yelled. Marcos, who was a tall, strong, had dark hair and brown eyes, looked back while the door was closing, and for Rafael, the last sight of his brother wasn't Marcos's regular serious face, but a gently smile.
