The Tale of how I Began Life as Eldin Cross.

I immediately began to regret last night's activities as I gave back to the earth in the form of throwing up into the public restroom's toilet. " Did I really sing Moe Magic Crystal Rush's intro? " Vomit continued to build up in my throat " Oh God there's more? How can there be more? "

After feeling I was done puking I made my way to the ballroom where Lux, Miyamoto, Makono, and Graxia were standing around a table in some sort of meeting.

 " You got some pipes. " Miyamoto taunted. 

 " You serious? His voice was like nails on chalkboard. " Makono said nonchalantly, seeming to be unaware that he was obviously poking fun at me.

 " Ow. " I said holding my head in pain as I slowly made my way over to the table and leaned on it as there were no chairs for whatever reason.

 " Sorry Tokuma, it's the truth. " Graxia added insult to injury.

 " Not that. It's my head, it feels like a herd of elephants are having an orgy in my skull. "

 " Oh, I can help. " Graxia offered as she placed her hand on my shoulder.

My headache faded almost as soon as her hand made contact " Oh your the bestest. " I said falling fast in love with healing magic.

 " We have a job in case you forgot. " Lux said as he analyzed a map which he had spread on the table. " When I was enlisted in the organization they had their gates located in the northern wall, we have a teleportation portal positioned by the southernmost wall away from the road in hopes that nobody would find and destroy it. As for the castle itself there are a few things I recall that will hopefully help. First of all it's positioned on a steep hill making it impossible to get any kind of heavy equipment close enough to climb it's walls, even if you could though there's a moat of water separating the outer walls from the inner ones, the only way in is if both drawbridges are down as they make a bridge across the moat. Secondly the place has two baileys last I was there, the first one is where you can expect to find the barracks, granary, tavern, and the llike. The second one is highly guarded, only high ranking officials can even approach it without a seal of approval from one of the top brass, that's where Lothrin and his finest warriors will be. Unfortunately that's all I really know, even then you should take it with a grain of salt. "

 " Can I have a few seconds to take this in? " I pleaded hopefully as I attempted to recall Lux's info dump.

However my pleas seemed to have fallen on deaf ears as he continued mercilessly " You may be wondering your purpose in infiltrating the castle, it's simple really, we need to know everything they know, their numbers, their training process, their wealth, not to mention they've probably undergone some changes and it would be best to know what exactly we're up against. " Lux then turned attention to Graxia. " While he's gone the rest of you will try to find the other two heroes, If there is even a single hero willing to join our cause, we need to find them. "

 "Maybe, Musashi? " Graxia said not too sure of herself as she looked to me for confirmation only to see my face just as troubled as her own.

 " Another hero? That's good maybe you can help find him, I would go with, but me and Miyamoto have to stay here in case the organization attacks. "

The way he spoke proved to me that Lux still didn't trust Miyamoto enough to assign him a mission or even leave him in town without being with him to insure he keeps in check. In spite of the fact that Lux never spoke directly about this, it was obvious Miyamoto could sense his distrust.

 " What about me? I won't stand by anymore, I'm a demon lord I have powers rivaling that of a hero! " Makono pleaded with conviction in her voice.

 " And they have eight. Sorry but with the demon slayers on as high guard as they are you wouldn't last long. Besides our whole mission is to protect you. " Lux answered with such unshakable resolve that even Makono could sense that he would not be convinced otherwise.

 " One day. One day I'll save you all and you'll regret keeping me locked up! " Makono growled as she slammed her hands on the table sending cracks throughout it.

 " You know you've been leaving somebody out. " Miyamoto said smugly. " A certain little rabbit. "

 " She's not going, end of discussion. " Lux said matter of factly as he closed the map.

 " Say what you will but that little bunny has been training her fluffy little butt off, she's a capable warrior now. " Miyamoto pressed on.

 " All the more reason for her to stay. " Lux immediately continued his verbal onslaught before Miyamoto could react, this time directed at me. " Tokuma refill on whatever you need, keep in mind this is a deep infiltration, and you could be gone for years. "

 " Got it. " I replied briefly, halting myself before I butchered a salute.

I left the ballroom and was met with the warm sun and gente breeze. I'd only just realized that I hadn't been out since I woke up. The beautiful town cherry tree still stood tall, the walls had undergone some upgrades as with the guard but the town itself was still as peaceful as ever. The building I left was also positioned on top of a hill which provided a glorious vantage point over the town as I leaned over a railing completely spellbound by the glorious view before me.

 " Beautiful isn't it? " Luna said as she rested her head on my shoulder out of nowhere. " Now's when you say. Not as much as you. "

 " Your joking right? Nobody actually falls for cheeky stuff like that... Right? "

 " It would still be nice to hear. " Luna's cheerful demeanor then shifted to a serious one in the blink of an eye " I heard about your job today, it seems really dangerous, the demon slayers are no joke, you should've seen them at Lyrn. Just remember to come back safe." Her voice immediately returned back to normal " I need my lover. " 

Makono approached from the building behind us " So do I. " She said before blushing like a schoolgirl " Not the lover part! I meant come back safe! That's all! "

A decrepit smile crept upon Luna's face as devious thoughts no doubt ran through her head " Aww, so cute. What do you say Tokuma, is there room for a third? " She winked heavily in my direction, I couldn't resist the urge to embarrass Makono.

" Maybe, but your on booty duty. " I joked relentlessly.

The disgusted look on Makono's face brought a smile to mine " You pervs are just as bad as Graxia! " She replied, her face as red as a ripe tomato.

After I was done tormenting Makono I restocked on throwing knifes and supplied myself with several weeks of rations before returning to Lux.

 " Are you ready? " He asked. " It'll take about three hours of walking to arrive at the northern wall if you do it right and stay out of sight, don't forget to bring ample food and water. "

" I'm ready. " I assured " With one final question, how do I send in my reports? " I asked.

Lux chuckled. " You haven't checked your skill slate since you woke up have you? "

With a confused look I did just that.

My level was now twenty-five and I had a few more spells. Mind magician, perceive thoughts, invisible message, and my very own mana manipulation.

" Invisible message then? " I concluded though it wasn't a hard guess. Invisible message was actually pretty straight forward, I would write a message in a invisible letter created with the spell then I would write in it using my index finger, once I close the letter though it is instantly teleported to a location of my choosing where only the recipient can see it.

Lux nodded affirmatively. " Don't skim over your other spells though. "

" How did you even know I got them though? "

" It's a pretty common spell actually, it's called scan spell, almost every hero has it. " Lux said, 

" Almost. " I said begrudgingly.

Lux lead me to a dark room illuminated only by a magic circle. " If I could give you a single warning about teleportation it would be to close your eyes. The sudden change of your surroundings will make you throw up, most likely collapse, and possibly seize. Anyways keep your eyes shut. "

I closed my eyes until suddenly I could smell and feel the ambiance of a forest again along with the faint heat of a fire. " Um. Can I open my eyes? "

" Sure. " An unfamiliar male  voice said.

As I opened my eyes I was surrounded by a camp of unfamiliar adventurers in the middle of the night, it was getting late when I finished shopping though.

" Who are you? " One said with his beautifully polished and maintained bastard sword at my throat, he stood with a firm posture immediately I homed in on the features that would help me recognized him, his messy burgundy hair, his chocolate brown eyes, his maintained physique, even his raggedy adventuring clothes.

I looked at my surroundings and noticed he was in a party of adventurous, with him was a shy shapely girl with emerald green eyes and shoulder length midnight black hair, she clutched a crude wizards staff close to her body which made since considering how skimpy she dressed wearing half a skirt and a tube top. His other party member stood at medium range with his bow drawn back and an arrow nocked with it, he blew his long well groomed jade hair from his violet eyes waiting for me to make move as his stared me down, he was dressed in the barest since of the word wearing just baggy pants and sandals, he wasn't even muscular or anything, as a matter of fact he was quite petite.

Finally I saw something useful, a small pamphlet for joining the demon slayers.

" Are you joining the demon slayers? " I asked, the guy pushed his blade deeper into my throat. 

" I'm asking the questions. "

" Okay okay. " I said raising my hands in submission while thinking of a fake name. " My name is Eldin Cross. I'm originally from Lyrn, I registered as an adventurer but once I saw the demon slayers I finally realized something. The threat is real, the demon lord himself was in Lyrn, that's when I decided that enough was enough, the demons are getting too close to home we have to stop them. " I lied on the spot showing my dog tags to prove my case, a little bit of illusions might have been used for my name, title, and anything else discriminating.

The adventurers sheathed their weapons as the one who pointed a blade at me offered his hand. " Okay weirdo who fell from the sky, we seem to have similar believes so you can come with us. My name is Gurak, the pretty one is Nyx named after the goddess of course, whatever your problem she has the spell to solve it. " The shy girl gave a courtesy bow but didn't say a word. " And the naked guy, is Laif, he can shoot the hat off a fly from two-hundred yards away, also he's an elf that's why he's naked. "

" Shut up Gurak! You don't understand. " The elf complained.

" All elves are exhibitionist? " Gurak joked.

" Where are all the females? " I added.

In all directions I was getting daggers stared at me for a moment I was worried my cover was blown.

Then Gurak burst out laughing. " Your a funny guy Cross. "

 " Jerkwad, you won't see me making fun of humans habit of getting horrendously obese. " Laif argued fuming.

" I'm not obese. " Nyx said innocently.

" Wha! Of course not, your an exception! " Laif exclaimed hastily as he waved his hands dismissively.

" We should probably rest, we've still got ten hours to walk tomorrow. " I nearly spat out my drink at Gurak's comment, once I reunited with talk we would need to have a nice take about the between three hours, and ten! " Did the heavens at least proved sustenance for you Cross?  "

It took me awhile to realize he was talking to me, not to mention escape from my dread over how long I'd have to walk tomorrow. " Oh yeah the gods thought of that. " I joked.

" You alright? Is something on your mind? " Gurak said with a troubled look as he caressed his sheathed blade's handle.

Feeling like he was closing in I immediately thought of a excuse. " It's just I normally go by Eldin so it took me awhile to realize you were talking to me. "

Gurak returned to his normal disposition as he slapped my shoulder with considerable force. " You mind taking first watch? Not everyone can just fall from the sky, we had to walk and now I'm exhausted. "

I nodded affirmatively. " I don't see why not. "

It seemed naive of him to assign a stranger to watch over them at first, but while keeping watch I noticed that Gurak wasn't actually asleep, he was watching me with a close eye, he wanted me to believe they were vulnerable to test me. Needless to say I passed.

I sent a message to Lux using my new spell and once my shift was over I ended my first day as Eldin Cross.
