Chapter 3:
The Art of Falling in Love
The human sat on the sofa, his eyes filled with questions but he remained silent.
“Ah, this is why I dislike humans! They come here and end up speechless!” I shouted with annoyance effectively scaring the man.
“Now now don’t be like that. I’m sure he’s here for a reason,” Roshie said and looked at the human, “I’m Roshie Krista and you’re?”
The human looked up at her and stammered our,” I...I’m Lucas, Lucas Stone. I’ve come in search of magic. I’ll do whatever you want but please help me!” He begged.
“Magic, that powerful words coming from a human. What magic do you seek?” I asked.
“Eek!” He screamed in surprise.
“Don’t scare the poor boy, now how can we help you?” Roshie asked him.
He took to her kindness much better.
“I...I want to make someone fall in love!” He shouted covering his red face.
“You don’t say. Well you’ve come to the right place. I’m able to preform many kinds of romantic based magic. It’s my affinity, so tell me, who is it you seek love from?” I asked.
“Uh, well you see. It’s a long story,” he said twiddling his thumbs.
“Then you better start talking,” I ordered and he jumped again.
“Go on, she doesn’t mean any harm,” Roshie smiles.
“Ah, yeah. Well I guess I should start from the beginning. I come from a poor farming family, in fact we barely have any crop most of the time, but I’m fine with that. What we lacked in wealth my family made up in love. We were loved greatly and I was happy, but I guess you get older and things change.”
“I have a neighbor, we grew up together and her family was also in the same boat but we all had our principles and encouraged each other. But one day I grew up and began experiencing something more towards my childhood friend,”
“I see so that’s what you want,” Roshie said, “you want your childhood friend to fall in love with you right?”
I sighed and slapped the back of her head, “let the boy finish his story, but I think I know where you’re story really goes. You and your friend already love each other but you want her to have a better and happier life. Is that it?”
“Huh, how do you know that?” He asked shocked that he didn’t get to that.
“I specialize in love based magic. As a perk I understand people’s problems in love. Truth be told I don’t want to take on your request,” I sighed.
“Huh, but why? I just want her life to be better. We both grew up in poor families she should be with someone who can provide a better life for her, and not be with me.” He cried out.
“Cut the crap, you just want to feel good about some stupid deed that she isn’t even interested in. Why would money or Wealth please her? She’s never see that kind of thing with her own family so why with a future family. Besides why don’t you better yourself instead. Grow as two people who can change, you’re not like us, once our affinities are chosen it’s set in stone,” I explained.
“She’s right, I don’t believe love forced is the right way to go. Isn’t she happy with you already?” Roshie asked.
He thought for a moment, “I...just don’t want to see her suffer anymore.”
“Is she suffering?” I asked walking over to a small bowl and taking it to him. I poured a little bit of water in it and allowed his heart to seek out the person dearest to him.
A woman came up. Her long brown hair twisted into a braid. She was happily attending to her families livestock.
“I don’t believe she’s unhappy, so what does your heart want. Do you still wish to relinquish her love to someone else?” I asked.
He shook his head as tears rolled down his eyes.
“Then shall I help you pick out the perfect gift to give her. You owe her that much after wanting to change her heart,” I stated.
He looked up at me and agreed.
“My items do more then make people fall in love, I can grant you an item that can grant you eternal happiness with the person you love, or increase the rate of having children, everything romantic and relationship enhancing is at your feet.” I said with a smile.
He looked through my wares and picked out a ring with enchantment for a long, happy love.
“Good, now find a gate to return home. Sadly to say but I’m only good at romance based things. So you’d probably die if I made a gate for you,” I sighed.
“You have it rough, but I want to thank you. I was too ready to give up my love. I never thought about the other persons feelings,” he said with a sad smile.
“I don’t like granting love to someone who hasn’t earned it. You and her will be happy, just don’t ask something so stupid again, got it?” I asked pointing at him.
“I promise,” he said before running off.
“Good,” I sighed happily.
“You did a great job,” Roshie smiled.
I looked at her for a moment, “I know I called you here to help but what about your shop?” I asked.
She looked at me dumbfounded before realization clicked, “wahh, I forgot!” She ran off.
Well that’s my life in a nutshell. I grant people love in May forms, but I’m incapable of anything else. To me, this isn’t satisfying, but sometimes I can smile at the work I accomplish.
